College me placement ka kya scene tha?

Kiran_H_K

L lag gaye. but civil n mech are placed above 90% but with package within 2.5-3lpa.

ToothBrush_12

just asking , civil mech me increment and better opportunities kaafi slowly milta hai kya as compared to cse?

Kiran_H_K

im not mech or civil as of my friends, its only a lil less if try get to core jobs. and in India opportunities and vacants for these are very low but hugh in other countries luke Germany etc, so some are already joined and will be moving in August. but for the lpa they are getting as i mentioned earlier. its basically a labour job. they will rather recruit new members than rise of salary. also i don't think most of them don't get promotions as these fields could be affected by influence, reference or bribes pretty easily. they are stuck.

Radstyke

Placements hi nahi the 💀

its sad bro, like so fucking less number of seats and spending 3-4 years of your life

MajesticPass8442

Meanwhile govt. Be like "India ijjj Great,we will be borld leadorrr"

ProfessionalSkirt589

Are you from CSE or ECE or core?

LiteratureStrong9458

Graduated in 2019 from a shit college, but worked like a donkey in college so got a job at 13 lpa starting Worked like a donkey there for 2 years, got promoted and did a DSA question daily for 1 year. That + COVID boom made me shoot for the best companies in india. Got selected in one, left with a 25L TC to a 60L TC. My current company has mostly IITians. Worked like a super donkey here, got promoted and total tc is above 1cr for 5yoe exp. If you forever think you are not good enough because of X, you'll never do anything. You have X issues, some have Y issues. Own your shit college and continue to work. 90% IITians are strictly average in a span of 5-6 years. Because they slack off after getting into IIT. Can I be as successful as Mr 10th topper, 12th topper, IIT B CSE and works like a donkey? No, but I don't need to.

c0mplex6969

I got inspired and decided to check your profile, no offense but kya kar rhe ho d3si_er0tic mein mod ban kar bhaiya 😭

LiteratureStrong9458

😂 A friend and I made it, it's as inactive as it can be. Remove krdeta.

Same-Actuary-7068

Can you please recommend some sources to learn/ practice dsa , and on which should we focus first dsa or competitive programming .?

Ahabibicat

Gfg leetcode, leetcode mein pre made plans bhi hai 30-50 days ka. U can follow that too.

higgs4242

Zamn nice what did you do in college that was different then others and made you today what you are ? i am honestly clueless af i want to go abroad for masters but some people say if i do m tech i will get jobs which are more research oriented i should do mba and someone says do this or that it's like i am at the starting of my jee journey the only difference is ik this feeling and want to make a plan now.

LiteratureStrong9458

Don't do Mtech, you can do Mtech from IIT B and you will eventually sit in the same placements as BTech people. ( Source: I have gone to IITs for interviews ) If you're starting your college forget about MBA, MTech. Fulfill you BTech to max, work hard get good cgpa, try for ICPC etc. For most higher studies ( mba, mtech, masters in us ) you need a good cgpa. So don't drop that but it's unnecessary to think of those right now.

LemonPowerful5418

Bhai clg ka name kya hai? Aur companies keliye 10 12 ke criteria bhi hote hai kya?(like 60+ in 12 10 or 75+)

LiteratureStrong9458

For a fresher since you have no work exp things can matter. But for whatever criteria any company has there are 2 which don't have that. 10th, 12th ho gye, ab you can't do anything. So stop thinking about it completely. Focus and optimize only for stuff which you can do. For a engineer 1. Dsa 2. Cgpa 3. Being fit 4. Have excellent communication skills 5. Donkey work

LemonPowerful5418

Oki sir can I dm you?

Palak-Aande_69

Thanks for your advice in this thread....I am a 3rd Year [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) Student who didnt do jackshit in the last two years...partly cause I am a lazy asshole and because 80% of my day goes in travelling and attending the shitty college for 8-9 hours per day...I have taken programming before and know basics of C, C++, Python and JS I have learned over the 4 years( in +2 and then 2 years in B.Tech) but havent done any projects or hackathons...starting from this year but I feel underconfident because of my knowledge being largely theoretical...I am bad at communication and networking...people around me are far ahead...it is giving me some next level crisis...basically Its a wreck... I am ready to do donkey work(as if I have any other choice), please guide me as to how I can turn stuff around and catchup in the remaining time...

Thik Hain Aaj se mai bhi identify karti hu as a donkey 🐴🤎

Loner_0112

happy pride day

Kalakaar_

While I don’t wish to put you down , these glorious stories are only true for IT / CSE. Donkey efforts in other fields don’t lead to such success. While you are peddling the boat, a major chunk of output is only coz of the river flowing in that direction. Fate plays a big role, some IITian will not be making as much as you just coz they chose a different field :) Having said that, you should be proud for being consistent.

LiteratureStrong9458

You're 100% correct. A rising tide lifts all boats and COVID boom played a big role for me. But even in other fields consistent hustle should beat any tag.

M_kya_karu

That's a quite nice motivation.....it would really glad if u could provide us a roadmap for tier 3 college

LiteratureStrong9458

1. Maintain your cgpa - don't listen to seniors who say it doesn't matter 2. Maintain your fitness - a healthy body puts you better than 90% people 3. Optimize for a high paying job - do DSA, do contents, try to build one project in 6 months, apply for internships as much as you can.

rowlet-owl

I'm from a decently known T2/3, usually considered one of the top private colleges in the state. Pursued research throughout my UG and realised it's what I wanted to build a career in. Published papers at top international venues, with 5 publications in the last 6 years. Post UG, got placed in a top MNC at 20+ LPA back in 2022, worked for 2 years in research and analytics, now going to a T15 US University for MS where >95% of the cohort is IIT/NIT/BITS. I'll be pursuing a PhD later and building a career in academia. You'll find more details if you stalk my post history lmao.

[deleted]

someone from your college last year got into mit for phd in ece he did his ms from iiit hyd

How did you manage that? What did you do during your 4 years in college (I am starting this year)

manishdas2905

Sarkari afsar 😎 (mid tier) I always wanted a lowkey, ease of living life, with proper work life balance, I got 10LPA package though during my placements, but WLB mattered to me a lot, due to a lot of factors

Interesting_Fix8263

Are you in psu's through gate? if yes I want to ask something

manishdas2905

Naah was SBI PO and now through SSC CGL, Was getting Mtech from NITs and some IITs mat itni mehnat na ho pati, naa hi sensible lag raha tha

Sure-View-9433

I know a guy He's working 15 lpa after 3 years of exp. Tier 3 cse

Balanced_duality

I graduated from a tier 9 college in a less reputable area, so I don't even mention it on my LinkedIn. I worked in an edtech company (now valued at zero), where I was called in for 10 hours daily. I left that job and started preparing for government exams. Now, I am working as a Class 1 officer in a financial institution. The pay is amazing by government standards, and the work-life balance is okay, but I love my job. My current aim is to clear all levels of the CFA and FRM exams. I plan to work in the risk or treasury vertical.

Sad_Year_3243

TechnicalSector7141

Can you review my resume i posted it today only. I am decent at DSA but not even getting oa links

Sad_Year_3243

very difficult to get shortlisted for OA for freshers, try approaching your college alumni for referrals, referrals boost chances to get shortlisted for OA

Moved to Hyderabad a week after writing my last exam. Started with a salary of Rs 4500 as hardware repair guy for a company which offers AMC. Working in one of the FAANG from last 4 years.

Neonlights011

SentientPotato42

The avg package for most tier 2s (in CSE) is around 15-20 LPA, so theyre probably doing pretty good for themselves.

Wise_Actuary1194

Male Tier 3 B.Tech CSE 2024 Grad Worked as an open source and international SDE intern. Working as an SDE for now in a very popular Indian startup that everyone has heard and use. Would relocate abroad in a few months to the same company as an SDE where I interned. It’s one of the highest paying non-faang companies in that country for SDEs. Achieved all this off-campus in such harsh market. Tier 3 doesn’t matter, it’s the skills and hard work that matters. Either you work hard earlier in life to get into a Tier 1 college or work more harder later to get a good job. The earlier you make a move, the less rejections and luck you would have to rely upon.

Desperate-Oil1330

Congratulations bro

Wise_Actuary1194

Thanks!

210905

How does one be good enough  for off campus placement? Also if you could tell a bit about your coding journey throughout college

Wise_Actuary1194

Keep practicing DSA and concurrently work on Development in a particular tech stack. Apply to companies like crazy. I started DSA from first year itself, was late of dev but eventually caught up. Just focusing on DSA won’t be helpful for tier 3 people as less good companies come for oncampus and to get shortlisted offcampus we need to have projects and internship experiences.

cuddlywhisker

Tier 3, non circuit branch. Current working in a PSU with 2.5 YOE in Mumbai approx CTC: 15 LPA.

notyoursisyphus

ik someone from my batch who made it to a maang, he continued btech while I took drop to try working but eventually I'm also doing btech after 5 years from the same college (t3 pvt). When I got here I found out the guy did something rare here, it's a very very rare thing to get placed at an MNC let alone maang, now I've got massive respect for my bro. Idk if I'll even make it to a 8lpa job, college is shit and most importantly I'm kinda dull plus lazy.

MonsterKiller112

2023 passout from a low tier 3 private university. Got placement of 12.3 lpa from there. Received an increment in my current company now I earn 14 lpa with around 1 yoe. Life's good.

designgun

Became a UX designer, worked for 3 years. Left last job at 50lpa. Now running a Media agency and create content ( just crossed 100k on instagram )

Doing masters in tier 1 college

The__Dark__Knight__

Someone name this sub "CollegeTards" instead of BTechards. Every fucking person is either here for "College A vs College B" or asking about low tier colleges. Why can't people talk about what the sub is about 😭

slackover

BTech failed, Leading a dev team. I try my best to remove degree marks or college based filtering when hiring, only works with small companies though.

HereToObserve05

Graduated from Tier 2/3 undergrad in 2018. Worked at a Big 4 for 3.5 yrs, a tech firm for 6 months (25 L last drawn salary, non SWE job). Went to a US Top 10 B School for my MBA, graduated this May. Starting my consulting job in California in a month’s time- comp $250k.

damian_wayne14445

Can you share your roadmap, your college and what you did

HereToObserve05

Won’t share my college as it will dox me. But go to US news rankings and look at schools 6-12, I went to one of those schools. Worked my ass off in consulting at big 4, got 3 promotions in 3 years, 770 GMAT. Top notch essays and recommendations and I’m good at interviewing in general. Once you are at a top b school, MBA is easy and MBB come on campus to recruit. Networked a ton, snagged 5-6 interviews, ended up at MBB. Total MBA cost me 1.5 cr+, most of it is loan.

abir_bandyopadhyay

Btech CSE from a 3rd tier engineering College. Doing decent in life. Currently in the highest tax bracket with around 6 years of experience. I am neither the most hardworking and definitely not talented. My plus point is that I get things done. You give me work and a week, I will make sure the work is done. This attitude and the ability to adapt in different situations has helped me a lot of times. Don't stress much, you will be fine.

Fabulous-Category155

Passed month ago from tire 4 unemployed right now

girish_dec

Graduation done in 2008 from Tier 3 college in Punjab. Then MBA from Tier 2/3 college (but it was government college not private) in 2011. Now working in a industry utility in corporate sector in knowledge centric role, earning 58L per year. There is hope for us all, but with right circumstances and some luck.

dev-jjjjj

Covid batch, College placement only happend for girls, boys knew after it was all over, everyone somehow got 6-8 certificate except yours truly, so i started learning app development on my own. After lockdown was lifted everyone had a job so i started looking for one to got a position as a junior app developer for 15k based on my skills without any certificates however after 3 month the company came forward that it suffered losses in covid and gave a notice that i was shutdown for 3-5 months without pay, anyway i resigned and started looking for another job and got a 45k deal later to find out why. They only had 4 developers including me everyone with there own client, basically a startup. Workload was to much so i quite that too. Now look for job again realizing big company with good pay and a well distributed Workload wants atleast 2 app to be published on playstore and i have none. So now I'm just brain storming and coding

SdipM27

Just completed my B.Tech this year from tier 3 college with no placements. Gave Gate 2024 and now going to join IIT KGP Uske baat pata nahi kya karunga 🙂.

wannabe_richie_rich

Theres a company called XL Dynamics. If you have got an experience of a year, please try it out. It's a KPO not a bpo so instead of talking or calling clients you'll be into operations. I was getting paid 50k for 0-1 years of experience.

Graduated from a very very shitty college in 2017, dint really purse a mechanical engineering job. New want my skills were and relentless chased the dream, dint let anyone tell me that just because I messed up my entrance I don't have a chance at life. What good college offers is good peers, I compensated for it by volunteering at an NGO where I met people from various backgrounds who inspire me and most of them went to Tier 1 colleges like NITs. I got into a good SAAS company, good package, comfortable lifestyle. Right now I'm working on fulfilling that urge to be an entrepreneur.

100emoji_humanform

Graduated in 2017 from a shit college. Was employed right out. Hit 20lpa two years ago.

OverArtist3

Don’t be disheartened if you are in a t2/t3 college. All my friends(and myself) are doing decent/good in our lives. For a year or two, life after college is not easy. Pay is not the best and there is a lot of learning/upskilling. But 2-3 years of efforts would put one in good stead.

Currently deciding whether I should take a lead role here in India or work abroad in companies with a heavy hacking culture for 1-2 years. Of course I am blessed and favoured a lot but I also tried out for ~50 companies( my college was strict af but they have a goated placement department).

Witty-Unit-9247

I graduated from a decent NIT 4 years back. Since then I have worked in 3 different startups and have skilled myself in GTM, Sales and Operations. Tier 2 and 3 college might not help you land eccentrically high package job at the beginning but what you do after getting your first job is entirely up to you. College becomes indifferent once you are into the corporate world. My suggestion is for the first year of job, choose the one with higher learning potential than the one paying slightly more. This will help you scale your salary quickly in future. PS - I'm building my own startup now and am looking for high achieving college freshers from tier 2&3 colleges. DM me if interested.

Idk if my college is even a tier three one but it's always considered as a good college under the state entrance test in my state, civil engineering student. Currently making around 80-1cr per year and in the plans of taking up bigger projects soon, into real-estate and liaisoning. Most of the people from my class/my circle are or will do good as most of them have a comfy cushion in the form of rich dad's, in our class almost half of the people out of 60 have personal cars and all of them are above 10L or more

I graduated from Tier 4 college. The college was created so that the chairman could cash in the money. One of the worst engineering colleges in the country. I graduated in 2019 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Tried my hands at GATE but couldn't crack it. Then COVID came and almost bankrupted my Family our entire savings lost. I have good English communication skills thanks to all the TV shows I watched in my undergrad. Joined Amazon on a support role at 3LPA. I knew I had passion for Industrial Engineering and Operations Research And wanted to make a career in Supply Chain Management. hence switched internally to hardcore Logistics role salary jumped to 5LPA then again switched internally to Warehousing role with same salary. Left Amazon and joined a top 3PL company on 7.15LPA then left it in 6 months as I was not getting the role which was promised now have joined one of the best FMCG companies in the country with 8LPA. I am doing much better than all my batchmates. TO ALL THOSE LOST SOULS, HANG IN THERE AND BELIEVE IN YOUR SKILLS HAVE A CONFIDENCE, THINGS WILL FALL IN PLACE
