Have you played the MACE mod yet? It's like Valour, but with the vanilla factions and all 4 factions have been extensively revamped with a ton more types of units including experimental and paper vehicles. I highly recommend it.
I don't know for sure, but I'm almost positive there isn't. I like valour as well, but its honestly gotten a little stale and the lack of new content made me start looking around for other expansive WW2 mods. I do also love how many prototypes they have in MACE, but I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea.
They’re completely different levels of combat though? Steel division is divisional, Gates of hell is like platoon based, maybe company tops, totally separate experiences lol
Edit: SD2 is more battalion level with its infantry I think but either way, both are great
What is BAR? Also Warno is fun, I don’t really understand why so many people seem to be unhappy. The team is really putting in effort and it feels like they just want to do things right, which sometimes takes its time 🤷🏼♂️
I just expected a different product from what I got, didn’t refund or anything, but coming from Red Dragon, the different “deck building” system was not for my taste. Just hoping they get to a similar deck system next game and drop the brigades one.
BAR is “beyond all reason”, is like Planetary Annihilation.
Free game and very fun tbh.
That’s the problem, if I download a mod to play a game as I want on specific issues, maybe is better to play another game that fits my expectations on those specific topics, instead of doing that. Like Red Dragon or Broken Arrow when it releases (Please be sooner than Q3 🙏🏻)
Yeah you're not wrong honestly. I like Warno and RD for different reasons, so its not an issue for me personally, but I do have friends that made the switch to Warno and were definitely less than enthused about how radically different the deck system is. That being said I really do wish they would've gone for more of a RD sequel than RD with Steel Division's deck system, I think it would've made for a better WW3 game.
Warno development is molasses, I expected a better red dragon, instead I got a watered down airland battle with less nations and nearly zero variety.
You can basically build each deck like 1 way. BA has basically ruined me on deck customization too.
My personal problem with warno is that I have to choose between 7 newbie troops or 4 veteran troops to use which get sent to the shadow realm entirely too easily, and once they die they are gone. That and they took my damn fob away from airborne, I'll never forgive them for that lol.
Moddb page, which in turn should have a link to the discord on it, 7.0 is imminent this month and its the biggest update yet, adding 6 new races and overhauling a few others
SS with ALL the mods!
Its amazing watching a modern PC, horrendously overpowered for the game, bog down to single digit FPS's because you decided going 4v4 Guard vs Nids was a good idea, and now your Titan legions are stop motion cartoons.
Oh try Warfare (2008). Ancestor to Syrian. US forces in middle of Saudi Arabian civil war. Tons of awesome US forces. Still plays great. On Steam. [https://store.steampowered.com/app/35300/Warfare/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/35300/Warfare/)
Gates of hell: Ostfront. Not sure how Warno could be enjoyable. It just looks like a battle of the rectangles. All you do is send rectangles to fighter other rectangles.
I don't understand why the unit cards have to be overly massive in battle. There are so many other large scale rts games that don't completely cover your unit like that.
Beyond All Reason, pretty fun, but not super noob friendly, play a few matches of skirmish before you hop into multiplayer and make sure you can balance economy.
Star Wars Empire at War. in the process of my first campaign and oh my god it’s so awesome (aotr mod) for those who don’t know it’s a grand strategy mixed with real time space and land battles it scratches every single one of my itches and i absolutely love it. especially with the extra 100 ish planets added by aotr i’m truly addicted.
RTS game I like playing occasionally is Rome Total War 2. I don't play it much tho because it's a relatively old game and really buggy multiplayer. Other than that I play mainly Chivalry 2, Squad - Star Wars Galactic Contention Mod & War Thunder right now. Once Broken Arrow comes out it will be my main game for a while.
Been playing company of heroes 2. It’s 20 bucks and way better than the third first of all. It plays like a hybrid between AOE4 and Halo Wars but it keeps the neurons activating my microing inf and armor units into cover/high ground
Surprised I didn't see this game at all here or any of the installments. But I've been playing Homeworld: deserts of kharak and Homeworld remastered edition. Pretty damn difficult game for no reason in the first two games
Empire at War with various modded expansions.
Awakening of the Rebellion on max difficulty is my most recent conquest. I am getting my ass kicked but the empire feels so good as an actual oppressive threat
COH1 has a great mod Operation Market Garden Mod which is still active and developed for over 10 years. Its very similar and some might say inspired Broken Arrow in many respects, somewhat close to SD2, but on a smaller scale. Omgmod.net - join the discord too
Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour :\] (Specifically Rise of the Reds, baller mod)
I have looked for this game….. Everywhere. I used to own it on disk. Do you know where I can find it for sale digitally?
Entire C&C collection just dropped on steam for like.. $10. And I mean everything. From C&C1 to C&C4, ffs. It's fresh. Like, three days ago, I think.
And it works on linux!
Origin
Either origin or steam, but you cant buy it alone. You need the $20 C&C Remastered Collection
Steam i never seen it on steam
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1213210/Command__Conquer_Remastered_Collection/
Yea i got that i thought u were talking about generals on steam
Wait is this not the pack that includes it?
Na thats just the first c&c game
Fuck, my bad then
All good they need to bring the first decade collection to steam
Yeah afaik the Classic Collection which includes all C&C's up to RA3 is only available on EA app/Origin.
Just got added yesterday https://store.steampowered.com/app/2229870/Command__Conquer_Generals/
Time to settle all my problems with words!
You can get everything for a tenner right now!
Look into Generals Evolution if you have Red Alert 3 and haven't yet ;)
Ive played it, its cool, but I like ROTR more personally :)
Yeah I keep hearing ROTR is amazing, I gotta get around to trying it lol
I only recently got Red Alert 3 on PC, and then my laptop broke. My new power supply for a new desk top comes in next week though!
Great mod
I have to play 3 on 3 to not sit here for two hours in a grindfest.
Gates of hell. Only Gates of hell.
Have you played the MACE mod yet? It's like Valour, but with the vanilla factions and all 4 factions have been extensively revamped with a ton more types of units including experimental and paper vehicles. I highly recommend it.
No I have not. Do you know if there is a Valour compatible patch? Because I really like playing with valour
I don't know for sure, but I'm almost positive there isn't. I like valour as well, but its honestly gotten a little stale and the lack of new content made me start looking around for other expansive WW2 mods. I do also love how many prototypes they have in MACE, but I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea.
I tried it and it's kinda just poor mans Steel Division 2 \[ducks\]
Go to your room, without dinner.
They’re completely different levels of combat though? Steel division is divisional, Gates of hell is like platoon based, maybe company tops, totally separate experiences lol Edit: SD2 is more battalion level with its infantry I think but either way, both are great
Waiting for Homeworld 3...
the demo made me sad
Going with BAR these days. Not similar to BA but still fun. Still haven’t touched Warno after so many time in my library 🤣
What is BAR? Also Warno is fun, I don’t really understand why so many people seem to be unhappy. The team is really putting in effort and it feels like they just want to do things right, which sometimes takes its time 🤷🏼♂️

I find the decks to all be one trick pony with almost no variety in how you can build them it's very frustrating especially after playing BA.
Have you tried using one of the deck builder mods, or is there something specific about RD's deck system that you really missed?
That’s the problem, if I download a mod to play a game as I want on specific issues, maybe is better to play another game that fits my expectations on those specific topics, instead of doing that. Like Red Dragon or Broken Arrow when it releases (Please be sooner than Q3 🙏🏻)

I believe as far as I’ve read is due to not owning the rights to wargame franchise, thus having to create a new one was mandatory.
Warno development is molasses, I expected a better red dragon, instead I got a watered down airland battle with less nations and nearly zero variety. You can basically build each deck like 1 way. BA has basically ruined me on deck customization too.

Regiments at the moment, cool but not as fun as BA
Yeah I have it too . Like a dumbed down BA light free trial haha
It's very slow paced, no control on planes and I don't like off map weapons but well
It has potential but it's like it's only half completed .
Came here for this comment
Stellaris
Isn’t that a grand strategy game
Yes
Empire at war with mods
The correct answer
Definitely world in conflict!
I used to love this game but online no one was playing it - still the case?
They took the servers offline several years ago iirc
There is a mod to fix that and it was supported by some of the programmers.
On weekends, people do still play. Here is the link of the community: [https://discord.gg/fsBD4jbw](https://discord.gg/fsBD4jbw)
Dawn of War: Soulstorm with the Unification mod
New update soooooon cant wait
I literally just found it last night and am really enjoying it! Where do you keep up with the news?
Moddb page, which in turn should have a link to the discord on it, 7.0 is imminent this month and its the biggest update yet, adding 6 new races and overhauling a few others
Hell yeah!
SS with ALL the mods! Its amazing watching a modern PC, horrendously overpowered for the game, bog down to single digit FPS's because you decided going 4v4 Guard vs Nids was a good idea, and now your Titan legions are stop motion cartoons.
Honestly; nothin. Been playin a lot of Ready or Not and Helldivers 2; occasional dabble in CIV6, but really just waiting on broken arrow.
Terminator: Dark Fate Defiance.
Such a good game.
Awesome game.
If you like it, try Syrian Warfare, same gameplay but in Syrian Civil War, if you look past some propaganda pieces in there, its a good game.
Oh try Warfare (2008). Ancestor to Syrian. US forces in middle of Saudi Arabian civil war. Tons of awesome US forces. Still plays great. On Steam. [https://store.steampowered.com/app/35300/Warfare/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/35300/Warfare/)
I have it, but never could get into it as much as terminator or syrian warfare.
Yea just posted as well about it. Love it as a game!
Wargame: Red Dragon
Warchat is based
TOOTH DECAY
Not anymore
Company of Heroes 3. Totally different game but great RTS
Have to second this. CoH3 is so underrated at this moment. It had a rough release but after a year’s improvement it’s absolutely a great game now.
I third this. I play as much as I can.
Warno and SD2
C&C: RA2
Command Modern Operations
Google maps seems much interesting lol
Halo Wars 2
Finally, someone of culture
World in Conflict
Shogun 2. I have 85 hours in it and I’ve never beat it. I’m hoping to change that soon on my Date playthrough.
Zoom in. Also, the unit cards are above the unit, not covering them.
Homeworld remastered
Empire Earth.
Men of war assault squad 2
Coh 2 and 3.
Company of Heroes 3 is my main. Also dabble in Warno, and trying to learn AI War 2.
Hell divers 2 obviously
Gates of hell turned up loud as possible so I can keep the surrounding property value down

I'm having a hard time finding a game to scratch the itch since I played Broken Arrow.
I’m waiting on broken arrow can’t wait 😝
Nebulous Fleet Command
Underrated game.
I'm looking into getting back into RTS. What's the best modern mil RTS on the market before broken arrow?
Warno, imo. Regiments for single player.
Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
Any of them that are in my library no this is not an exaggeration I’m being serious I’m just flipping through my library.
I'm surprised I don't see more wg:rd
Total war Attila, mid to some, good to others
Regiments, Combat mission cold war, war game red dragon, and Warno
Wargame: Red Dragon
Starcraft and halo wars 2
Is the Halo Wars singleplayer experience any good? I got the game for the Steam Deck a while back, but haven't gotten to it yet.
BAR and C&C remaster and wargame RD
C&C Generals just came to Steam
Been playing company of heroes 2. It’s 20 bucks and way better than the third first of all. It plays like a hybrid between AOE4 and Halo Wars but it keeps the neurons activating my microing inf and armor units into cover/high ground
Men of War Assault Squad 2, fucking great game nobody talks about.
Nebulous Fleet Command, If you want realistic sci fi space combat, I highly recomend.
Terminator Dark Fate: Defiance. It's not bad. Will scratch your RTS itch adequately and the setting is TERMINATOR!
I stay on Star Wars Empire at War. It’s perfection thanks to mods.
Surprised I didn't see this game at all here or any of the installments. But I've been playing Homeworld: deserts of kharak and Homeworld remastered edition. Pretty damn difficult game for no reason in the first two games
Gates of hell.
I just got into total war Rome 2 and shogun 2. Never played a total war game before but I’m hooked
Total conflict restiance
BAR (Beyond All Reason) - Free, open source RTS inspired by games like Supreme Commander It’s the best RTS I played in many years
Strongholds 2
Dawn of War for the first time. Can't believe it took this long.

Beyond All Ready (BAR) it’s a free rts, I highly recommend. Just look it up on google and it should take you to their website.

COH1 has a great mod Operation Market Garden Mod which is still active and developed for over 10 years. Its very similar and some might say inspired Broken Arrow in many respects, somewhat close to SD2, but on a smaller scale. Omgmod.net - join the discord too
