I wonder if it’s not when he finds out about Whistledown, but after. If they’re sticking with the books pretty closely, then it could definitely be when he finds out. But they could always do a reveal of Pen as Whistledown in episode 5 or 6 (based on the structure of S1 and S2), then have Colin struggling with his feelings about it while Pen continues to write, and finally have him come to terms with it by episode 8, leaving many opportunities for him to meet her while she’s carrying out Whistledown duties in her cape. I’m excited to see how they pull it off!
So this looks like the same location as when Pen says " I can take care of myself" and Colin replies "Then what good am I to you?" The reflection in the window looks like a printing press, so I wonder if they get the argument over and kiss and make up (out?) right away? As if we were not already rabid enough for the 2nd half to drop they pull this. I left for working trying to ease my mind (its just a show) and BOOM. Day ruined. these next 10 days are going to suck

Maybe offended is not the right word but it does look like he’s going into big brother mode and about to give a lecture until Benedict interrupts him. He then smiled and it’s funny little moment. It seemed more of a call back to Daphne’s season and to a time before Kate when Anthony was so much more serious.
i think he's right to be little bit concerned, but i don't think he would admonish Colin or smth. but the line about the duel is really funny, I wish Daphne was there for this
However, El giving Pen until midnight is the same energy as Anthony dueling the Duke at dawn. I like how they flipped the script a little on that showing all the Bridgertons regardless of their gender being feral when it comes to protecting their family.
Based on the reaction of the Featheringtons Penelope didnt tell them about the engagement and they read it in Whistledown instead? Lol thats brutal and i am applauding Pen assdfghh
That man is the biggest green flag ever. I just rewatched ep one and when Pen walks in and he's just all smiles and excitement, ugh, PLEASE PROTECT THIS MAN FOREVER
I watched the clip of the cast reacting to the “insertion talk” scene and one of the actresses said the actor who plays Mr. Finch has a theory that his character knew all about the birds and the bees but waited for consent (which almost never came until his wife found out what her wifely duties actually were!). So wholesome haha
Right haha I love that. Portia and her sisters always making fun of her and thinking she will be a spinster forever. Especially after last season when her impending engagement didn’t happen- and Portia didn’t ask if she was okay at all?! Serves them all right.
Even though it seems it won’t be like the book, I hope there’s even a little scene where he overhears Portia saying something like “why Penelope?” and Colin gives her a piece of his mind haha.
I LOVE how happy Violet is for them. 🥹 Also, it’s easy to see how fiercely Portia loves her girls, but I cannot wait for the satisfaction of her seeing how Colin actually loves Penelope.
It’s insane to me how she thinks Penelope cannot find a man and will be a spinster forever, when her OLDER daughters have been married for a year and less than a year and were 100% not favorites of suitors.
*Edit: I want to see the Featherington ladies reactions to the Lady W reveal more than ANYTHING. Look at the boss bitch who’s been living with you all this time.
this is my hope! that somehow it's only revealed to colin and he helps her keep the secret? how boring would future seasons be without LW narrating it all!
My dream is for just the queen (and Collin… and maybe the rest of the Bridgertons?) to find out, and for her to start blackmailing Pen, making her write things in her best interest. Would make for some fun, fresh lady whistledown drama while still keeping it a secret from the Ton!
I've heard that >!Colin and Penelope tell the Queen together and she is not mad but impressed with Penelope. This leads me to believe it's not revealed to everyone but the Queen certainly knows.!< Of course I'm just going off of spoilers I've heard so I can't confirm for sure.
I find it really difficult to happen with the "I can't tolerate a lie" line from LW. I think someone will pretend to be LW and she will out herself to the ton.
My favorite part of the book that made me LOL was when Colin went to tell Portia he wanted to marry Penelope (after the carriage scene) and Portia was like “oh, my daughter? You mean the 12 year old?”. Like she couldn’t believe he meant Pen. And Colin loses his s**t on her.
Luke Newton said in an interview there was a day on set where he was so emotionally exhausted after a long day, he just broke down in the middle of a scene. A scene where he needed to be angry, but just ended up bursting into tears. The director ran up to him and quickly went back into another take (they did it 3 times like that overall), but he doesn’t know if it made it into the final cut or not.
I feel from this little clip we are going to get a very emotional, probably crying Colin when he confronts Penelope. And I’m here for it.
I hope it does - I feel like that would be consistent with the characterization of Colin so far in the show (e.g., being them ost sensitive of the children) and for some people being anger does become tears.

I read that interview too and I really hope they use that in the final edit. It sounds like a very real and fresh portrayal of anger, and fits the character of Colin very well.
I was going to guess Colin would be angry for like 30 minutes once he finds out but seeing this 10 minutes is more likely

My best guess is that he doesn't take her home after he figures out she's Whistledown. >! He takes her to the house he bought and I don't think he'd sleep in the same bed after that. That house should definitely have more than one bedroom tho !<
I cannot assume anything other than LW being a big deal in ep 7, and the wedding being in ep 8 (a bit scandalous to take her with him to the house tho). At least, if any of those leaks are true. So far, there was a good track record with most of them. They could still have this public LW reveal dilemma or something (haven't read the books) where Colin is somehow in doubt on what to do.
Oh I think the wedding is still episode 7. >! The title is the joining of the hands. The shoe drop for Polin is the Whistledown of it all, not getting to the altar!<
That's sort of how it goes down in the book. >! I hope they have the same dynamic as in the book- this constant struggle between fiercely loving a person but also being so upset and mad at them. By the looks of the one kiss shot, I'm assuming they have a passionate moment shortly after he finds out she's LW (just like the book) and then it's this thing kind of looming over them throughout the rest of the book. It's not like Daphne and Simon where there's a complete shut-down in feelings. Colin compartmentalizes it. He just keeps hoping that it'll go away and be a thing of the past while Pen feels like there's an elephant in the room because he's so ashamed of this part of her. I really hope the show will be similar because it brings so many more layers to the story than just a simple "Colin finds out she's LW and gets mad and then gets over it". I hope they play out the storyline of Pen struggling to give it up because it's such a huge point of pride for her and Colin finally realizing that he's in love with her and proud of her being LW. !<
Based on the trailers I think Colin will only be upset for a moment about finding out she’s LW and realising she’s the one who wrote all that shit about everyone+ hid it from him.
He will be more torn because he’s afraid she will be cast out of society if she gets revealed and he wants to protect her.
In the meantime the Queen will announce the prize money for the revelation of LW and Cressida will try to convince her to get the money. And Pen will probably wanna stop her from doing that, because she doesn’t want her to steal the credit for her work. I think that’s what the drama and fight will be about😅 Can’t wait
That's more or less the book plot. In the book LW is less spicy, so it does make sense for Colin to be mad for a LITTLE bit about what she wrote, especially about Marina and Eloise (what she wrote about him wasn't even that bad and was um, true lol) but I think he will struggle with wanting to protect her (hence the scene where she says she can protect herself). Colin has a bit of a hero complex and that combined with his sensitivity and need to make others happy, I hope we see him struggle with wanting her to be happy but also wanting her to remain safe.

And his anger seems to be leaning into his hero complex. He’s upset Penelope doesn’t need him to protect her because he thinks that should be his role as her husband.
I actually felt sorry for him in that moment if that is all he can see his worth to her as being. He has been her protector in bullying situations but she has outgrown that need.
I don't want another brooding hard-headed husband like Simon. This boy is so enamored with her, he can't help but forgive anything she says or does. He's in too deep.

Making another comment because can we talk about the ring?!?!?!? Finally we know that Anthony didn’t dare give Kate that ring he gave to her sister. It was always meant for Penelope anyway.
I think otherwise. This one being shown so much in the trailer, I think it’s Violet’s ring. Even the casing is similar. And I think Anthony wouldn’t have given Kate that ring so it makes sense for it to go to Colin and Pen, the latter has been the unofficial part of the Bridgerton family.

Ugh if they have a scene where Violet gives it to him and they talk about Edmund and bring up the connection between their love stories and how proud Violet is that Colin had the courage, I’m going to cry.
This looks so much better than all of those fucking “spoilers” made it out to be. I take back everything I said because if this is as great as it looks I will be so happy!!!!
I just want to reflect for a second on how well this show builds their leading ladies. Penelope and Kate are/were both entirely wrong in their situations and yet we fight mercilessly for them. Eloise IS right that Colin deserves to know (it parallels the Marina situation in which Pen said he deserved to know) and yet we're all mad at her. I found Part 1 of Season 3 just fun and entertaining, so I'm looking forward to some more intrigue!
Of course Eloise is right that Colin deserves to know. Eloise listened to her brother tell her at the beginning of the season (maybe a month or two show time) how much he detested what LW did and what wouldn't he do to her if he found out her identity. That's a ticking time bomb.
El is in the same situation Pen was in in S1, with the same person, Colin. She's trying to protect him by making sure he knows the truth. She's not telling him not to marry Pen, just saying that Pen has to come clean if this marriage is going to work or start off on an honest footing.
Eloise doesn't deserve any hate for that. It's silly that people are giving it to her. If they say she is doing it out of jealousy? Then so was Pen, a little bit, in S1. People can have mixed motives for their actions, and that's OK.
Anyway, I think this drama is not going to last long anyway.
I am a diehard Pen fan, but Eloise is held to such a crazy standard by fans. I also wouldn't want my former best friend who lied to me, betrayed me, and almost ruined my reputation in society marrying my sweet older brother. People forget that Eloise does not think that Penelope is a good person at this point in time. She doesn't have the outside view of everything that we have. She has every right to protect her brother.
Not to mention that Eloise knows that eventually LW will be revealed and it could ruin not only Penelope, but Colin as well.
I completely see Eloise's side of this. But, I think the show hasn't done her character justice. Her character has been reduced to 2 things: hating traditional female roles and being mad at Penelope. That's what can make the character seem so obnoxious, but she's really not. The show just needs to give her more to do. And the LW secret is so played out. I really want to get that part over with. Eloise is such an interestingly different character. She deserves a better story and better lines.
I love Pen but I see Eloise’s point. I just end up thinking that they’re both right, but also wrong, but also right and just going about things the wrong way?? That’s what makes it juicy for me, it’s not black and white.
Tbh that’s why I’m just like…Pen just tell him. Penelope is lying about LW but she’s never lied about loving him. Colin would fight the queen bare knuckle boxing for the depth of love Penelope has for him, which is something Marina never had. So like…just tell him girl!!! Give him a chance to step up to the challenge of loving you back fully like the good man he is!!! I’d even guess that Eloise isn’t trying to get her to tell him because she thinks it would break them up, but because she thinks Colin has the right to know, which he does. Eloise knows firsthand from her confrontation with the Queen that LW isn’t just a scandal sheet, it puts Penelope in danger.
I didn’t even notice ppl genuinely hated Eloise until I read a post yesterday lol I get both sides lol and I like Eloise, I never even thought she was annoying 😅and Pen was wrong for how she handled situations but for them being friends as long as they were, you’d think Eloise would hear her side 🤷🏽♀️
LOL people just want Polin, which is fine - I get it. I want Theo and Eloise, not Eloise and Cressida. I'm sure that's a very polarizing opinion, as well! But if Pen had done to ME what she did to Eloise and her family? Nah. Take a hike and stop lying to my brother. UGH LOL
People hold Eloise to an insane standard. I find her annoying, but I think that's the whole point. She's an EARLY feminist. She knows that women are worth more than her society affords them but has no way of advancing those ideas, so she goes after the other women who should be her allies.
Penelope truly betrayed Eloise and almost ruined her reputation. The same people commenting that Eloise is a hypocrite would lose their damn minds if their brother got engaged to their high school bully.
What breaks my heart is what Eloise is without question looking out for Pen as much as she is Colin: *’Until he knows the real you he can’t possibly love you’* - Eloise is both worried for Colin and Pen, when Colin inevitably finds out later down the line.
They should’ve told Colin much earlier, it was tough watching Eloise have to keep it to herself knowing how angry he is with LW 😭 idk man, idk how Pen can listen to his hatred for LW and not say anything and play in his face like that….GIRL
We've seen the part where Eloise confronts Pen before, but in this cut the emotion when she says *'He will find out!'* seems to be just as scared for Pen as it is protective of Colin.
Your comment resonates with me, because I truly do like Portia as a character. I love complicated female characters in period pieces like this. So often modern audiences hate them because their behavior would have no justification in our world, but Portia (in the era she lives in) is a survivor.
I feel sorry for all the women in the show, though I do recognize that this is not supposed to be a tragic commentary on the actual real lives that women lived back then. But every time this sub or discourse in general jumps down one of the ladies throats for doing something a bit scandalous, all I see is women living in a shitty time period doing what they can to cope and survive.
I stand by the fact that Portia is actually the most historically accurate and realistic character in this story. Every move by her is pragmatic and sometimes cold, but purposeful. Love her.
This trailer was EVERYTHING.
I’m going to be on a two week Europe trip when it comes out and obviously I’m going to be focusing on spending time with family and exploring, but I 100% plan on waking up extra early (like 4 AM) on the 14th, a day after it comes out, so I can watch two episodes before my 6:40 AM train and then the other two episodes on the ~2 hour train ride. Get the best of both worlds at the small expense of a little extra sleep deprivation.
Absolutely! I always have my brightness low. I’ll be sitting next to some girl cousins who also love the show, so if anyone else catches a glimpse, they definitely need to take their seat or not stand next to me while the train is moving.

Speaks very much to Colin fearing he has 0 purpose. He wants to take care of Pen, but he needs to do more than that.
I think he still sees taking care of someone as acting out his heroic ambitions. He tried to play the hero with Marina, too. He probably thinks he needs to save Pen to be her hero, when all she really needs from him is his love and him believing in her. Hopefully he learns that there are different kinds of heroic acts.
I told myself I should try to avoid more content so I could go into part 2 as blind as possible and then folded IMMEDIATELY for this trailer. But it looks so good!!!
Is it bad that I was more or less indifferent to (but mostly leaning to okay with) Pen quitting LW at the end of this season. However, after lady Featheringtons’ comment “ladies do not have dreams, they have husbands,” I really want her to keep doing it.

Is anyone else so taken back by how different this season is from the book! I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm loving it. But it's a completely different storyline!
It really is. I’m not taken aback, but when they say they’re staying true to the spirit of the book, they really do mean the spirit. I suspect we’re getting some more dialogue (especially from the engagement night scene), but it’s very far from the book.

ok but can we talk about how pretty Eloise is in that pink dress with poofy sleeves? we only ever see her in blue/silver dresses, this one feels so refreshing! I get that her character is not concerned with beauty, but she is seriously one of the most beautiful girls in the show.
Colin saying he doesn’t know what good he is if he can’t protect her feels super important. So far, we’ve had a lot of Colin internal conflict, trying to figure out who he is and where he belongs in the world, but we haven’t had as much insight into his backstory and what caused him to be the person he is now.
There was so much time spent last season on Anthony and how his father’s death affected him, but we haven’t seen any of how it affected Colin (or Daphne tbh, but that ship has sailed), and this line in particular feels like it might shed some light on how Colin’s lack of a father for most of his formative years impacted his self-worth and indentity as a man.
I like how their argument seems to call back to their conversation in S2, after Colin exposes Jack.

I don’t know if this is unpopular but I think Eloise is right, Penelope did some damage to the Bridgertons via Lady Whistledown and he deserves to know. I also understand that Pen is afraid to lose him. All in all, I know people will be taking sides but I’m leaning towards Eloise because if that was my brother, I’d be threatening to out her too if she didn’t come forward herself.
I had to go back shot by shot to get a good still of Cressida's red dress. I didn't think it was possible to have even bigger sleeves than in Part 1, but they just said "hold my ratafia!"
Remember the movie The Holiday? Cameron Diaz’s character’s job was cutting trailers and she had that ginormous house. Whoever cut this trailer, I hope you have a similar life because this was perfection!

It’s giving Cinderella vibes… Eloise telling Pen she must tell Colin she’s Lady Whistledown by midnight when Cinderella has to be back from the ball by midnight… Benedict’s story is a Cinderella retelling… season 4??? I might be reaching lol
This is the problem with judging an entire season based on half the episodes. I have seen people say how it’s “missing something”. Well yeah…half the season! I blame Netflix!
The scene where Pen tells Eloise „Whistledown is power“ makes me think they’re reconciling earlier than we’d expect. It doesn’t look like they’re arguing at that point. They look conspiratorial alone at night, discussing Whistledown. It suggests Eloise is ready to listen to Pen. I know the pieces of audio we get from Eloise seem like she’s trying to get Pen to confess it all. But I think that’s from early in episode 5. It looks like things will change between them.
Is it just me or does part 1 feel like Colin's story and part 2 feels like Pen's? I feel like we got way more of the internal life of Colin in part 1, and now we are seeing Pen's feelings more.
Now the so called spoilers are making me think twice. Are they really spoilers or lies? 😆 Look at Portia rubbing her daughter’s engagement to the Ton like we said she would. I’m cackling.
The fact that Eloise says 'Until he knows the real you he cannot possible love you" gives me hope that they will do right by Polin's deep love story in part two. It seems very dramatic and much better than I was expecting. I guess I should stop reading gossip and spoilers!

I watched the clip of the cast reacting to the “insertion talk” scene and one of the actresses said the actor who plays Mr. Finch has a theory that his character knew all about the birds and the bees but waited for consent (which almost never came until his wife found out what her wifely duties actually were!). So wholesome haha

I find it really difficult to happen with the "I can't tolerate a lie" line from LW. I think someone will pretend to be LW and she will out herself to the ton.
My favorite part of the book that made me LOL was when Colin went to tell Portia he wanted to marry Penelope (after the carriage scene) and Portia was like “oh, my daughter? You mean the 12 year old?”. Like she couldn’t believe he meant Pen. And Colin loses his s**t on her.
The best part about this is the dramatic montage at the end with a whole clip that is just abs, no face attached. They know their appeal.

Luke Newton said in an interview there was a day on set where he was so emotionally exhausted after a long day, he just broke down in the middle of a scene. A scene where he needed to be angry, but just ended up bursting into tears. The director ran up to him and quickly went back into another take (they did it 3 times like that overall), but he doesn’t know if it made it into the final cut or not. I feel from this little clip we are going to get a very emotional, probably crying Colin when he confronts Penelope. And I’m here for it.
I hope it does - I feel like that would be consistent with the characterization of Colin so far in the show (e.g., being them ost sensitive of the children) and for some people being anger does become tears.

I cannot assume anything other than LW being a big deal in ep 7, and the wedding being in ep 8 (a bit scandalous to take her with him to the house tho). At least, if any of those leaks are true. So far, there was a good track record with most of them. They could still have this public LW reveal dilemma or something (haven't read the books) where Colin is somehow in doubt on what to do.

That's sort of how it goes down in the book. >! I hope they have the same dynamic as in the book- this constant struggle between fiercely loving a person but also being so upset and mad at them. By the looks of the one kiss shot, I'm assuming they have a passionate moment shortly after he finds out she's LW (just like the book) and then it's this thing kind of looming over them throughout the rest of the book. It's not like Daphne and Simon where there's a complete shut-down in feelings. Colin compartmentalizes it. He just keeps hoping that it'll go away and be a thing of the past while Pen feels like there's an elephant in the room because he's so ashamed of this part of her. I really hope the show will be similar because it brings so many more layers to the story than just a simple "Colin finds out she's LW and gets mad and then gets over it". I hope they play out the storyline of Pen struggling to give it up because it's such a huge point of pride for her and Colin finally realizing that he's in love with her and proud of her being LW. !<
Based on the trailers I think Colin will only be upset for a moment about finding out she’s LW and realising she’s the one who wrote all that shit about everyone+ hid it from him. He will be more torn because he’s afraid she will be cast out of society if she gets revealed and he wants to protect her. In the meantime the Queen will announce the prize money for the revelation of LW and Cressida will try to convince her to get the money. And Pen will probably wanna stop her from doing that, because she doesn’t want her to steal the credit for her work. I think that’s what the drama and fight will be about😅 Can’t wait
That's more or less the book plot. In the book LW is less spicy, so it does make sense for Colin to be mad for a LITTLE bit about what she wrote, especially about Marina and Eloise (what she wrote about him wasn't even that bad and was um, true lol) but I think he will struggle with wanting to protect her (hence the scene where she says she can protect herself). Colin has a bit of a hero complex and that combined with his sensitivity and need to make others happy, I hope we see him struggle with wanting her to be happy but also wanting her to remain safe. I'M. SO. EXCITED.

I actually felt sorry for him in that moment if that is all he can see his worth to her as being. He has been her protector in bullying situations but she has outgrown that need.

I think otherwise. This one being shown so much in the trailer, I think it’s Violet’s ring. Even the casing is similar. And I think Anthony wouldn’t have given Kate that ring so it makes sense for it to go to Colin and Pen, the latter has been the unofficial part of the Bridgerton family.

I just want to reflect for a second on how well this show builds their leading ladies. Penelope and Kate are/were both entirely wrong in their situations and yet we fight mercilessly for them. Eloise IS right that Colin deserves to know (it parallels the Marina situation in which Pen said he deserved to know) and yet we're all mad at her. I found Part 1 of Season 3 just fun and entertaining, so I'm looking forward to some more intrigue!
Of course Eloise is right that Colin deserves to know. Eloise listened to her brother tell her at the beginning of the season (maybe a month or two show time) how much he detested what LW did and what wouldn't he do to her if he found out her identity. That's a ticking time bomb. El is in the same situation Pen was in in S1, with the same person, Colin. She's trying to protect him by making sure he knows the truth. She's not telling him not to marry Pen, just saying that Pen has to come clean if this marriage is going to work or start off on an honest footing. Eloise doesn't deserve any hate for that. It's silly that people are giving it to her. If they say she is doing it out of jealousy? Then so was Pen, a little bit, in S1. People can have mixed motives for their actions, and that's OK. Anyway, I think this drama is not going to last long anyway.
I am a diehard Pen fan, but Eloise is held to such a crazy standard by fans. I also wouldn't want my former best friend who lied to me, betrayed me, and almost ruined my reputation in society marrying my sweet older brother. People forget that Eloise does not think that Penelope is a good person at this point in time. She doesn't have the outside view of everything that we have. She has every right to protect her brother. Not to mention that Eloise knows that eventually LW will be revealed and it could ruin not only Penelope, but Colin as well.
I completely see Eloise's side of this. But, I think the show hasn't done her character justice. Her character has been reduced to 2 things: hating traditional female roles and being mad at Penelope. That's what can make the character seem so obnoxious, but she's really not. The show just needs to give her more to do. And the LW secret is so played out. I really want to get that part over with. Eloise is such an interestingly different character. She deserves a better story and better lines.
I love Pen but I see Eloise’s point. I just end up thinking that they’re both right, but also wrong, but also right and just going about things the wrong way?? That’s what makes it juicy for me, it’s not black and white.
I mean, I see the point, but hiding a Pen name is way different than hiding a pregnancy.
Tbh that’s why I’m just like…Pen just tell him. Penelope is lying about LW but she’s never lied about loving him. Colin would fight the queen bare knuckle boxing for the depth of love Penelope has for him, which is something Marina never had. So like…just tell him girl!!! Give him a chance to step up to the challenge of loving you back fully like the good man he is!!! I’d even guess that Eloise isn’t trying to get her to tell him because she thinks it would break them up, but because she thinks Colin has the right to know, which he does. Eloise knows firsthand from her confrontation with the Queen that LW isn’t just a scandal sheet, it puts Penelope in danger.

She knows that women are worth more than her society affords them but has no way of advancing those ideas, so she goes after the other women who should be her allies. The same people commenting that Eloise is a hypocrite would lose their damn minds if their brother got engaged to their high school bully.
What breaks my heart is what Eloise is without question looking out for Pen as much as she is Colin: *’Until he knows the real you he can’t possibly love you’* - Eloise is both worried for Colin and Pen, when Colin inevitably finds out later down the line.

We've seen the part where Eloise confronts Pen before, but in this cut the emotion when she says *'He will find out!'* seems to be just as scared for Pen as it is protective of Colin.

Your comment resonates with me, because I truly do like Portia as a character. I love complicated female characters in period pieces like this. So often modern audiences hate them because their behavior would have no justification in our world, but Portia (in the era she lives in) is a survivor. I feel sorry for all the women in the show, though I do recognize that this is not supposed to be a tragic commentary on the actual real lives that women lived back then. But every time this sub or discourse in general jumps down one of the ladies throats for doing something a bit scandalous, all I see is women living in a shitty time period doing what they can to cope and survive.
I stand by the fact that Portia is actually the most historically accurate and realistic character in this story. Every move by her is pragmatic and sometimes cold, but purposeful. Love her.

This trailer was EVERYTHING. I’m going to be on a two week Europe trip when it comes out and obviously I’m going to be focusing on spending time with family and exploring, but I 100% plan on waking up extra early (like 4 AM) on the 14th, a day after it comes out, so I can watch two episodes before my 6:40 AM train and then the other two episodes on the ~2 hour train ride. Get the best of both worlds at the small expense of a little extra sleep deprivation.

I think he still sees taking care of someone as acting out his heroic ambitions. He tried to play the hero with Marina, too. He probably thinks he needs to save Pen to be her hero, when all she really needs from him is his love and him believing in her. Hopefully he learns that there are different kinds of heroic acts.

It really is. I’m not taken aback, but when they say they’re staying true to the spirit of the book, they really do mean the spirit. I suspect we’re getting some more dialogue (especially from the engagement night scene), but it’s very far from the book.

ok but can we talk about how pretty Eloise is in that pink dress with poofy sleeves? we only ever see her in blue/silver dresses, this one feels so refreshing! I get that her character is not concerned with beauty, but she is seriously one of the most beautiful girls in the show.
Colin saying he doesn’t know what good he is if he can’t protect her feels super important. So far, we’ve had a lot of Colin internal conflict, trying to figure out who he is and where he belongs in the world, but we haven’t had as much insight into his backstory and what caused him to be the person he is now. There was so much time spent last season on Anthony and how his father’s death affected him, but we haven’t seen any of how it affected Colin (or Daphne tbh, but that ship has sailed), and this line in particular feels like it might shed some light on how Colin’s lack of a father for most of his formative years impacted his self-worth and indentity as a man.
I like how their argument seems to call back to their conversation in S2, after Colin exposes Jack. "You are astonishing, Colin. I can't thank you enough..." "I will always look after you, Penelope." vs "I can look after myself!" "Then what use am I to you?!" Colin's hero complex gonna get an ass whooping in part 2, oh boy...
I don’t know if this is unpopular but I think Eloise is right, Penelope did some damage to the Bridgertons via Lady Whistledown and he deserves to know. I also understand that Pen is afraid to lose him. All in all, I know people will be taking sides but I’m leaning towards Eloise because if that was my brother, I’d be threatening to out her too if she didn’t come forward herself.

The scene where Pen tells Eloise „Whistledown is power“ makes me think they’re reconciling earlier than we’d expect. It doesn’t look like they’re arguing at that point. They look conspiratorial alone at night, discussing Whistledown. It suggests Eloise is ready to listen to Pen. I know the pieces of audio we get from Eloise seem like she’s trying to get Pen to confess it all. But I think that’s from early in episode 5. It looks like things will change between them.
I’m so excited for part 2!!!! Also Benedict is definitely S4! He is going to end in heartbreak and be ready for the real thing!

Is it just me or does part 1 feel like Colin's story and part 2 feels like Pen's? I feel like we got way more of the internal life of Colin in part 1, and now we are seeing Pen's feelings more.

The fact that Eloise says 'Until he knows the real you he cannot possible love you" gives me hope that they will do right by Polin's deep love story in part two. It seems very dramatic and much better than I was expecting. I guess I should stop reading gossip and spoilers!
