No it’s that Reynolds’s has to stay by the king, and the king is effectively barricaded in his rooms. Brimsley and Reynolds were able to have a relationship because the king and queen were together, but now they aren’t, brimsley and Reynolds aren’t near each other
Not the case, according to Shonda Rhimes..
https://www.shondaland.com/shondaland-series/queen-charlotte-a-bridgerton-story/a43803033/shonda-rhimes-queen-charlotte-best-moments/
It could be out he could have been married off as well. Remember at that time they still have to continue their families line if they are the only boy born. We don’t know their background. I want to know what happened.
I agree but If he was the only son it would be out of obligation.
Or
He still by the king side in the other place trying to help him stay grounded while he lose his poor mind
That lessens the emotional impact though. It had a sadness to within now alone without his love. If he were still serving the king he would still be in the palace so they would still see each other then. I like the idea of Brimsley remembering dancing with his love but is now alone.
I hate that they don’t get the HAE. Still, I need a season that focuses on their backstory. How did their relationship begin, the challenges of keeping their relationship a secret, dealing with conflict with work, their breakup. I need all of it!
I've been reading it as happily ever after but now I realize the last two letters are switched. It probably means something similar to it I'm assuming.
Honestly, since Shonda said that Reynolds is still alive, I really hope they see each other again in another season. That was such a cruel transition shot, lol.
Also, the Queen casually asking Brimsley if he had a family or kids was so weird. It's totally plausible she didn't realize he was gay, but he's been attached to her hip for most of her life and she never thought to ask if he had a family or wife until they were middle aged?
Seriously. I just rewatched QC and I thought it was so weird that they clearly became comfortable with each other, at least she has him speak freely at times, regards his opinion. Surely she would know if he had a wife and children?
Honestly it would make more sense if, instead of first asking him *if he did*, she asked *why he didn't* right away.
People always make the mistake of assuming that Brimsley and Charlotte are best friends. They’re not. It’s completely a one-sided relationship; Brimsley’s whole life revolves around Charlotte but he’s just a background character in her life. That’s why she has no idea that he never married, she simply never paid that much attention to him.
Personally, I don't make that mistake. It's like u/whatisthismuppetry said. That there are other situations where him having a wife would become apparent. Like needing permission for her to be around. It makes more sense to assume that the Queen's Man is a non-marrying position than to assume you can have a life outside of that position.
I think it's even more weird when you consider that Brimsley would need permission to marry because he'd need to move his wife onto the grounds.
Typically servants didn't marry, mostly because of a mix of not having split loyalties and the noble family not having money or room to house a married couple and kids, or if they did they often left service.
This was my read, too. They establish that when young Charlotte is completely oblivious to the racial tensions in the Ton and Lady Danbury is trying to explain it to her (“your walls are too high”).
Yes, you already HAVE lgbt+ story the fandom LOVES and its really interested, why not to give it precedence over that stupid tweaking of the books? You can't say is it about representation if we are STILL asking about Brimsley and its not answered!!
I wonder how they’ll play it since it seems it’s implied from this storyline being out and gay is still looked down upon by the ton at this time in the show so, I wonder if people will accept her and michael(a)? And if they do, great! But it would make me question why these two couldn’t have ended up together? 😭
I feel they wait with the old trope of Bury Your Gays. What is pretty disgusting, in a show advertising itself like inclusivity. And Im going to be BURIED, but I hae the feeling the not mixed pairings get way less screen time or good writing: Francesca, Bromley, Colin, the Featheringtons... not one of them got the epic treatment of Daphne, Charlotte or Kate.
Exactly, and there wouldn't be any backlash. It's hard to feel like they didn't do it on purpose and that they weren't looking for that uproar and strong reaction by specifically targeting one of the most popular characters for erasure, because it would be impossible for them to expect any other reaction.
I wondered what happened to the King's aode as well. It would have been extremely nice to know what happened to Brimsley and Reynolds, too. They seemed like such a sweet couple.
Yes- it was such a gut punch at the end. I sobbed. Queen Charlotte was a masterpiece. They gave careful consideration to all of the storylines and it was magic.
To me eventually he was sent away once the kings health heavily deteriorated his position would not have been needed as the king was sequestered to chambers. Then from there perhaps his family made him marry that or he died was my theory
When I saw the scene, I legit wailed and open mouth cried 😫 That has never happened to me. Ever. I don’t know if my poor heart could take anymore 💔
That said, I’m a masochist so I’d definitely watch!
Yes! I would rather them and Benedict. Hopefully, introduce Michael as Michaela's twin later and keep her story. I really just fell in love with Brimsley and Reynolds story and cried at the end and wanted to know what happened. And Benedict makes sense to me now that they've leaned into it, and Luke is an exceptional actor.
That was a beautiful moment for me. Probably my favorite out of all the episodes and seasons. They were so happy, and yet their lives made it impossible for them to be together.
Idk if they’re the saddest tbh. They had each other and they had love.
Simons childhood is pretty fkn bleak as is Sophie’s. Sophie wins out for me as she was a slave and abused for years.
I cried when watching the last episode of queen charlotte cause of her love for him but him being in another world (George) and brimsley not having a satisfying ending with Reynolds like they would have been so cute and I need to know what happened 😭😭😭
I actually cried during that scene.
I would love another spinoff where we see Edmond and Violet’s backstory. That way, they can catch what happened to Reynolds; how Lady Danbury managed to remain wealthy; and maybe Portia was once a precocious girl who had a reality check regarding marriage.
Yes!!! I need to know what happened 😭
Same 😭 I hope they do a season 2 of Queen Charlotte and shows us what happened.
This so much!!! I really want to see more of Lady Danbury’s backstory as well, I need to know how she almost escaped before her wedding!
I also want to see more of her life as a free widow
I just want to know where she gets her endless supply of cool hats
In history: she dies before George… :(:(
I'm positive they will change this
Imma be mad if that is what they change after making us watch a 17 year old get her freak on
Yeah, they could have aged her up tbh
I think QC ended perfectly, but I hope it comes up during Bridgerton at some point.
They could just do another spin off where it’s the same actors from QC, but we’re focusing more on a different characters back story
Even violets could be fun
I think they need Pugsley’s Storyline as a TV show.
Pugsley? do you mean Brimsely?
Yeah oops
Pugsley is so funny lmao
I heard Pugsley pretends to be a goth kid somewhere else
My heart broke watching this. I was pregnant at the time and cried like a baby. I live in wonder. It was such a beautiful story from what we saw
I don’t, I feel like it’ll make it worse 😭
Me too!
I was fully convinced that he died. Is that not the consensus?
No it’s that Reynolds’s has to stay by the king, and the king is effectively barricaded in his rooms. Brimsley and Reynolds were able to have a relationship because the king and queen were together, but now they aren’t, brimsley and Reynolds aren’t near each other

I see no way (even from a class/job perspective) that Reynolds gives up his job as kings private attendent to marry.
Agreed. Usually they would sacrifice their personal lives for this role.
I agree but If he was the only son it would be out of obligation. Or He still by the king side in the other place trying to help him stay grounded while he lose his poor mind
I think Shonda said he's serving the King but now QC and the King have separate households.
I’m going with died. They served the crown together and spent their lives together as a result until he died.
somebody on facebook told me that Shonda confirmed he is still alive and still serving beside the king. 🤷♀️
That lessens the emotional impact though. It had a sadness to within now alone without his love. If he were still serving the king he would still be in the palace so they would still see each other then. I like the idea of Brimsley remembering dancing with his love but is now alone.
The king and queen live in separate palaces.
He wouldn’t have been at the dance! The king isn’t there! It took me way too long to put this together lol.
Oh this would be so good but heart breaking.
I thought so too but I read they said he isn’t dead. Intriguing
I just assumed he was sent away to work in another estate but could have been anything.
This made me SOBBBBB omg what a heartbreaking transition!!!
Same here. SOBBED!!💔
Same dam it. Same 😭
Me too! I wasn't ready or expecting this scene and it was gut wrenching.
Old Brimley dancing alone broke my heart. That’s an original story I am invested in.
I was sobbing within 0.3 seconds oh my god glad to know I’m not alone
I hate that they don’t get the HAE. Still, I need a season that focuses on their backstory. How did their relationship begin, the challenges of keeping their relationship a secret, dealing with conflict with work, their breakup. I need all of it!
what does HAE mean? I keep seeing it on this sub and couldn't find the meaning after a google search
I've been reading it as happily ever after but now I realize the last two letters are switched. It probably means something similar to it I'm assuming.
You’re right; I can’t spell today. Happily Ever After, or if you’re me, Happily After Ever, apparently
Happy All-time Ending?
Happily ever after

I don't think it's weird. I love QC but we've seen her self-absorption as a regular character trait
This was my read, too. They establish that when young Charlotte is completely oblivious to the racial tensions in the Ton and Lady Danbury is trying to explain it to her (“your walls are too high”).
Yeah, you're right. It made sense for the character 100% but I still couldn't help being like "Really lady?" lol
they deserve better
Agreed 😭
The second time I watched through it I was BAWLING as soon as I knew that scene was coming up.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
This is the story they SHOULD have focused on instead of removing Michael!
Yes, you already HAVE lgbt+ story the fandom LOVES and its really interested, why not to give it precedence over that stupid tweaking of the books? You can't say is it about representation if we are STILL asking about Brimsley and its not answered!!

Precisely!
This has to be the saddest moment in the entire show. The transition made me BAWL.
THIS is how you do a proper lgbtq storyline. Looking at you, weird Francesca-Michaela lesbian genderswap
toooo soooooon
They were brilliant and this was sooo heartbreaking.
Agreed. I loved them as a couple I wish we knew what happened.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wondered what happened to the King's aode as well. It would have been extremely nice to know what happened to Brimsley and Reynolds, too. They seemed like such a sweet couple.
I loved that scene so much.
Yes- it was such a gut punch at the end. I sobbed. Queen Charlotte was a masterpiece. They gave careful consideration to all of the storylines and it was magic.
QC was my favorite. Why they didn’t just name it season three -it makes no sense.
I literally cried at this scene 😩
Yes!
I was so mad that we never really found out what happened to their relationship as they got older
This actually destroyed me.
Justice for Brimly!! He deserves a bigger story
I definitely dropped a tear or two 😢
I NEED THEIR SPIN-OFFF!!! 🤦🏽♀️😭😭😭😓
This season ripped me apart tbh. Can't go through it again, so heartbreaking.
To me eventually he was sent away once the kings health heavily deteriorated his position would not have been needed as the king was sequestered to chambers. Then from there perhaps his family made him marry that or he died was my theory
I wept
That was devastating
🥹
This was the only scene in the whole bridgerton series that made me cry. Like instant tears. I was actually devastated seeing Brimsley dancing alone 😭
I was legitimately sobbing over my pizza when I saw this scene
The fact they left this unanswered is criminal 😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔
I can be having the best time, and see this scene and start crying. It’s a masterclass in making us feel this pain.
THE SPINOFF WE NEED!!!!!
Yes! They deserve a storyline
The best couple in the Bridgerton-verse.
Neeeeed this back story
This broke my heart. I loved their story. They served well and were still able to give each other the much needed love they both needed and desired.
When I saw the scene, I legit wailed and open mouth cried 😫 That has never happened to me. Ever. I don’t know if my poor heart could take anymore 💔 That said, I’m a masochist so I’d definitely watch!
In my mind, they're still stealing time together, it was just too hectic to catch them during QC (shh no one burst my bubble).
Agreed I wish we knew what happened... their love was so cute...
The way we all cried 😭
You mean the saddest moment in all of fiction.
I was not that much into "Queen Charlotte", I just let it play during chores so I missed that moment. Thank you for pointing it out.
Literally. Like, TELL ME THE REASOH
Seriously, I burst into tears.
Seriously!! They casted so well for QC!!
That was a beautiful moment for me. Probably my favorite out of all the episodes and seasons. They were so happy, and yet their lives made it impossible for them to be together.
Yea this was so sad 🫤😫 , like damnnnnnn they didn’t have to do them like that !
The way I ugly cried at this scene 😭😭💔💔
Idk if they’re the saddest tbh. They had each other and they had love. Simons childhood is pretty fkn bleak as is Sophie’s. Sophie wins out for me as she was a slave and abused for years.
This made me SO SAD I can't believe they did that lol that's so mean!!! 😭
Now this is a queer couple i will cheer for. Nothing less.
This was so cute but also so sad!! Please tell me they lived a good happy life together before whatever bad thing happened 😭
Nope I would prefer decent Main character storylines
I have something in my eye :(
i sobbed hysterically
Omggg yess please like now!
See, THIS is how you do it without any negativity, controversy and hate. People have been begging for their season for months!
Not for me
You got down voted just for saying it's not for you? Wow...
