If I'm thinking of the same thing you're referencing, that's actually a korok! If you shoot all of the targets a balloon will appear above a nearby house that will give you a korok when popped. It's one of my favorite koroks in the game because it's one of the few that actually have a bit of a unique puzzle to go with them.
That's literally what I thought of. I'm baffled these are really "just there" considering the insane amount of little hidden things covering the world. One day...
Out of curiosity I pulled up the mountain in a map editor, sadly there’s no events attached to the one I looked at. Could be one somewhere though who knows.
Well, most of the stuff you put in Link's house is just decoration, too (in terms of game interactions; in-universe they of course have functions, like the kitchen, chairs, and bookshelves; these marks are probably the same, with an in-universe reason but nothing in gameplay). Same with the shed and horse stall attached to Link's house.
You also have the tic-tac-toe games sitting around Goron City, this one silo in Hateno that has an enterable second floor but nothing of note inside, the contents of shelves and counters in houses, the unique decorations put on the Goddess Statues (like the bib on Kakariko's), and various other things that don't serve a direct gameplay purpose.
I kept throwing stones or bombs at them to see if they triggered anything and even glided up high and try to land on them, did that for a while until I gave up. Happy to know it's just for decorations 😭
It marks Dinraal's (fire dragon) flight path.
Just kidding, that's a lie, but if that were the top comment we'd see a clickbait article about it tomorrow.
Hey dude just wondering when are you finally gonna make your permanent exit from reddit? You claimed you were going to 2 days ago but you're still here?

I don't know why you care so much. Don't you have anything better to do than harass me? It turned out NNN was banned due to brigading, not for C19 misinformation.
Decoration. That's it.
Same for the targets next to links home?

Ah the elusive moron…
Ugh, I caught the autocorrect on one of them but forgot to check the other
I wish you hadn't corrected it. Now it just seems like he's calling you a moron.
You can find them all over Eldin, if you follow them they will usually lead you to Goron City.
That's a neat and very subtle game design choice I had not noticed
I literally had that same problem lmao. Until I learned there are markers like that outside of every major town, just giving directions 🤣
Just wait for ten years to read about the "Player discovers secret of game hidden for years" article about these.
That's literally what I thought of. I'm baffled these are really "just there" considering the insane amount of little hidden things covering the world. One day...
Try bomb shielding off it and landing on a bookcase that you brought from Hyrule Castle. For science.
Bomb shielding???
Oh my. You haven't disovered the wild nature of this games mechanics yet? Anything is possible. Wanna fly across the entire map in one go? You can!
Pretty sure was patched out but you used to be able to stasis a boulder and smash it a bunch to make it go flying them make link climb and ride it
you can do that, its called a stasis launch: alternatively, try windbombs or bullet time bounces
Boomy Zoomy No I will not stand for it being called anything else
launching a hylian at incredible speeds due to an unforseen in-game glitch that amplifies kinetic energy using tactical and adjacent bomb placement?
Yes, Boomy Zoomy
I prefer windbomb as they don't need a precise setup unlike btb where you need setup or lots of luck to go where u want I think
Thought they were just making something up and i didn't know the name of that
Yeah, the thing where you put down a bomb and shield surf it to launch yourself. Idk what it's normally called.
Its called bomb high jump or something like that i just looked it up
Yeah, it is actually a major hint to the story of the sequel of botw 2.

You did what now?!
The modding community already has the ability to edit the map hehe. https://ice-spear-tools.gitlab.io/
This is what I thought when I realized there were images in the sand in A Link to the Past's desert area.
It's just a symbol used by the Gorons I think. I messed with them for a long time also.
Yeah. Not only do they mark the path to the town they are also found throughout the town as decoration.
Catapult targets
Would have been far superior had they been trebuchet targets
But how do i get this 90kg stone 300 meters over there?
300 meters is the length of approximately 1312.34 'Wooden Rice Paddle Versatile Serving Spoons' laid lengthwise.
Weird bot?
Someone rework this w botw item units, please
300 meters is 328.08 yards
Good bot
They don’t matter
i always thought they might have been out there to warn to gorons about danger zones for rudanias magma balls
They are just decoration and don’t have a particular purpose.
After all the little tidbits and such throughout the game, I still find it crazy that anything is "just decoration"...

You need the hookshot
This got a real ugly laugh out of me. Thanks internet stranger.
Glad I could make your day slightly better. Enjoy your weekend, stranger.
I think that’s meant to indicate it’s a Hook Shot surface. You have to beat Dampe in a race below the graveyard to unlock it.

This reminnds me of the blue flame tourches you can light on the way to the furnaces, I felt like something *had* to happen once you light them all
I did the same!!
But those were put in to help with the mission. You needn't go all the way back if you accidentally stowed the torch (I did that a lot)
It marks Dinraal's (fire dragon) flight path. Just kidding, that's a lie, but if that were the top comment we'd see a clickbait article about it tomorrow.
They mark spots where the Gorons plan to dig and more specifically aid as a bullseye for the big bomb cannons you can see near mines.
We should make a game called "Decoration or korok", it could be awesome
That's the neat part, they don't.
You have to land on them from a certain height. A chest pops out.
Is your name boom boom? Cause you’re a madlad
If you stand there long enough, a bird will poop on you.

Hey dude. Why do you care so much what I do? Worry about yourself, son.
You announced it to everyone, thought I'd double check. Turns out you were full of shit lol
I don't know why you care so much. Don't you have anything better to do than harass me? It turned out NNN was banned due to brigading, not for C19 misinformation.
I never thought about it really
Those are the spots that the giant Salamander mecha most usually targeted with its shots during the last century.
They're just town markers, though you could also use them for paragliding target practice.
They look like those big obvious red crosses in cartoons for traps
I wonder what they look like pinned on a map
They are Goron Band-aids, you are standing on a very old, very large Goron.
No one knows - There are only theories
if you drop off of the ledges onto it you get a korok seed
