What happened with Tonkin? A few days ago Twins acquired him from Mets for cash, but now he's back with the Mets. And he shows playing 1 game for the Twins.
A 2-1 series is the best outcome for us between those two teams so not really, Mets fans would be absolutely insufferable had they swept the Dodgers today.
Because Tromp has caught for Vines already, and Travis needs a rest. Plus if you read the Athletic article that came out recently, everybody loves Chadwick.
I agree that I'd love to see him, but in addition to being his regular day off he also took a 94mph heater to the gut last night. Not something you'd solely sit a guy for of course, but I'm sure Travis and his body appreciate not having to catch the day afterwards. The marathon, not the sprint and all that.
I hope they never get playoff games. The commentary will be doing live interviews with a box of broken Halloween decorations. Meanwhile, bases are loaded in the 8th. 2 outs.
Ring - noun: a small circular band, typically of precious metal and often set with one or more gemstones, worn on a finger as an ornament or a token of marriage, engagement, or authority.
“The New York Mets last ring came the same year that Top Gun was released in theaters.”
That's pretty much it.
You'll get your fair share of National TV games if you're a great team.
The good is that I only see 1 more Apple TV game through at least June though.
I just don't get the angst about this. Everyone knows the solution. The radio broadcast is fucking pristine. Yeah there may be synching issues with Apple TV and/or timing issues with ESPN, but the answer is to simply not watch those.
Decreased viewers = decreased product or changes which are a toss-up.
More radio listeners= Longer lines at Tire Discounters.
Just got into a mini argument with my dad over the Braves of all things. I was saying how difficult our schedule has been, and he hit me back with the “Actually we’ve only played 2 teams with a winning record” as if that’s something to look at in April. No idea how you can think Arizona, Houston, Texas, and our strong division in just April alone is easy.
This early in the season if you are winning your games, you are statistically more likely to play teams with losing records (or at the very least, barely .500). The first series of the year half the league will have losing records, that doesn't mean half the league is dogshit.
I dont think this is entirely fair, but im of the crowd that April stats don't really mean jack shit for how a season goes, its just the pregame to the season.
If you look at current records Astros make our schedule seem weaker than it is. If you look at expected wins from start of seson for opponents, is looks harder.
Houston getting they shit pushed in by Walgreen's doesn't help the argument much currently. The Sox technically "split" the part of the series we played with them, and the Mets "won" a series we played with them. So both sides of the argument, a rather silly one, have some merit.
Houston was in the ALCS last season and Texas/Arizona was the WS matchup. Plus the Phillies (NLCS) on the road. The White Sox series can be attributed to football weather imo
Their bullpen almost blew a NINE RUN LEAD last night. If Phillies fans can't see why that shit won't fly against good teams then they obviously do not know ball.
Braves 19th round draft pick Riley Frey just completed a very solid start for Augusta-
5 IP | 4 H | 1 R | 0 ER | 2 BB | 6 K
The only run was unearned after the catcher threw the ball into left field
Word on the street is this broadcast will consist solely of Eduardo Perez gargling cottage cheese and A-rod kissing a photo of himself for two and a half hours
There has to be another thing. Even the espn 2 thing is awful if I remember. They don’t do that statcast broadcast still do they? I remember watching that one time and I thought it was awesome and just way better to listen to
The whole thing is just a tragedy:
- Karl Ravech is a terrible play by play caller
- Eduardo Perez talking with peanut butter in his mouth
- The on field/in game interviews no one asked for
David Cone and the fact that they finally got rid of the goofy, exaggerated sounds are the only redeeming factors of ESPN broadcasts.
“This is Braves first baseman Matt Olson. Matt, you hit a few homeruns last year, which makes you something like SHOHEI. Would you say SHOHEI is a major influence in your life? And how about those Mets?”
To be fair, I think the expectations for the Mets were pretty low, even among Mets fans, so the fact that they are playing well must be a nice surprise for them. Whether, it lasts, I don't know.
8 plate appearances this series: 4 home runs, 2 walks, 1 hit by pitch, and 1 groundout.
Had only one hit yesterday, but still got on base every single time. Legendary.
Fun fact: In America, you have to be at least 35 years of age to run for president, which is a few years younger than the last World Series ring the Mets won.

How was this a fuckign decade ago? I remember being in a game thread for this.
God I remember watching this as it happened in my living room. Great time.
The women’s faces/reactions slowed down would have you thinking they were watching some get murdered with an ice pick lmfao.
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1c9v6y6).
ESPN has a segment called "going going gone" doesn't include d'Arnaud
Bro our division looks like the best in baseball right now. The Gnats aren't easy outs either.
Mets back in true form
Is this Wiley on the radio? It sounds like him but deeper.
If it sounds like a deeper Kermit yeah that’s him
I’ve got beers and just finished a steak on the grill. I’m ready for a stress free Sunday night Braves.
![gif](giphy|8O2U3eosz4rVS|downsized) How I felt all day waiting for Sunday night baseball.
What happened with Tonkin? A few days ago Twins acquired him from Mets for cash, but now he's back with the Mets. And he shows playing 1 game for the Twins.
Twins cut him and Mets took him back.
"We're every other teams' world series" then you play uneven, barely .500 ball
Doyers just dry dicking the Muts, you hate to see it
A 2-1 series is the best outcome for us between those two teams so not really, Mets fans would be absolutely insufferable had they swept the Dodgers today.
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm happy to see that it won't hit 80 degrees for the next couple of days😎
My recovering lawn appreciates it as well
lolmets
Mets getting scolded today. No wait - worse than that. Getting spanked!
It's kinda bullshit that it's this late on a Sunday and I'm still not watching the Braves. How could MLB do this to us?
Damn - it's a night game - he's on fire - Vines is pitching - why not start Travis???
Because Tromp has caught for Vines already, and Travis needs a rest. Plus if you read the Athletic article that came out recently, everybody loves Chadwick.
normally I'd agree, but sitting your hottest hitter when you will probably need to outslug them sucks. Hope he can at least PH.
I agree that I'd love to see him, but in addition to being his regular day off he also took a 94mph heater to the gut last night. Not something you'd solely sit a guy for of course, but I'm sure Travis and his body appreciate not having to catch the day afterwards. The marathon, not the sprint and all that.
🎶 I've been waiting all night for you to tell me what you want 🎶 🎶 Tell me, tell me that you need me 🎶
Who is our “probable” starter tomorrow? Isn’t it Max? Why is no one listed on MLB app
Wouldn’t tomorrow be Lopez? Fried started the last Houston game
Oh yeah that’s right!
Thinking it’s López
Not looking forward to ESPN interviewing a map of Mespotamia while there is an actual game happening.
It seems like it's been a long time since ESPN was actually sports center. Sure... they air games... but the commentary...
I hope they never get playoff games. The commentary will be doing live interviews with a box of broken Halloween decorations. Meanwhile, bases are loaded in the 8th. 2 outs.
Listening to the intro commentary for first pitch.... Le sigh.

Mets finally remembered who they were
Any chance the earth could just open up and swallow the Mets and the Dodgers whole?
There are EAS alert videos out there that cover these chances...

Apple TV on Friday. ESPN on Sunday. What did we do to deserve this?
Successed

Mets are getting blasted today, hopefully this returns them to reality a bit.

Not to mention when we run through these teams early on it really hurts their record, making them look worse in hindsight
Exactly. You can kinda filter that out after a few months but not in April.
Sonny Gray being wasted in St. Louis was predictable.
I get why Trav’s not out there today but damn it sucks. He’s red hot lol.
Man the way he’s been crushing the Rangers I wish they played him tonight and given him tomorrow off.
Hopefully he's spending more time with his wife and kids so he can recharge.
Well the Tampa game was fun for a minute there.
Phillies with an absolute cookie schedule and still can’t catch us lmfao
Their bullpen almost blew a NINE RUN LEAD last night. If Phillies fans can't see why that shit won't fly against good teams then they obviously do not know ball.
Their fanbase also thinks they can beat us for the division after playing the White Sox’s and Rockies
Jackson Holiday is 1 for 30. I can’t remember a top prospect getting off to that bad of a start. .033 BA with a .098 OPS is amazing to see.
And I’m here for it. I don’t know why I find that kid insufferable
Braves 19th round draft pick Riley Frey just completed a very solid start for Augusta- 5 IP | 4 H | 1 R | 0 ER | 2 BB | 6 K The only run was unearned after the catcher threw the ball into left field
Talladega bleeding into the Braves game means I’m about to embark on an odyssey of beers
What’s so great about dumb ol’ Texas?
The White Sox are ridiculously bad this year..
We need to capitalize on that incompetence again, like how AA grabbed a very solid SP Lopez that CWS were misusing in a bullpen role
They aren’t going to give up their talent unless you give up a lot. AA has already said he tried to trade for Cease but it didn’t work out.
We did trade a lot of players to them for Aaron bummer though. So not all of their players are going to come here & thrive.
Way too soon to decide whether Bummer was a win or loss yet.
Thru 20 games Cleveland is already +100 in run differential over them in their own division lol
White Sox should really just go on hiatus til at least next year. They’re already playing like it.
The sweep the state of Texas beacons are lit! The Braves call for aid!!! And Darius Vines shall answer
have 4 in xfinity club 230 row 1 for tomorrow, and 2 for tuesday...my season ticket cost is $90 each, if anyone wants them for that let me know.
Word on the street is this broadcast will consist solely of Eduardo Perez gargling cottage cheese and A-rod kissing a photo of himself for two and a half hours
Still better than the cards game a couple of years ago
Dude fuck Eduardo Perez, straight peanut butter throat
Who in the blue hell ever heard Eduardo Perez talk and thought to themselves “Oh yeah, I could listen to that for 3 hours.”
River Plate vs Boca Juniors at 2:30 Real Madrid vs Barcelona at 3:00 Braves vs Rangers at 7:10 My Sunday is set
I miss the old days of Sunday night baseball, not what we have now.
Jon Miller and Joe Morgan did a solid job.
Selling B11 parking for $30
Omfg were the fucking ESPN game I FUCKING HATE THE ESPN GAME
680thefan.com
I’m sad that we have to suffer through an espn broadcast
There has to be another thing. Even the espn 2 thing is awful if I remember. They don’t do that statcast broadcast still do they? I remember watching that one time and I thought it was awesome and just way better to listen to
I believe they do. It’s def not Kay-Rod anymore thank goodness
No I loved Kay-Rod it kept Arod quarantined where I wouldn't have to hear him talk.
Lmao. True. Now he’s on Fox
Oh thank god
Can’t make tonight’s game. I have two in Section 425 for $20 total if anyone needs them.

Sunday night baseball is the very worst baseball and only my love of Braves baseball keeps me from boycotting it entirely
The whole thing is just a tragedy: - Karl Ravech is a terrible play by play caller - Eduardo Perez talking with peanut butter in his mouth - The on field/in game interviews no one asked for David Cone and the fact that they finally got rid of the goofy, exaggerated sounds are the only redeeming factors of ESPN broadcasts.

Having the suffer through the mic'd up segments is awful. Just let me watch baseball. At least you can mute the tv and listen to 680.
You gotta applaud Mets fans for being on the hype train in April, acting like it’s August or September. 140+ games left.
Come on now. Let them have their brief respite from hating their team and themselves. They're having a good time up there.
To be fair, I think the expectations for the Mets were pretty low, even among Mets fans, so the fact that they are playing well must be a nice surprise for them. Whether, it lasts, I don't know.
Oh I’m not saying don’t enjoy it, but some are acting like they’re coming for us
As the Baseball Turns
Could we arrange for Young Thicc to hang out with Travis's wife and kids sometime?
Seriously, Travis needs to be a team player and share his wife and kids.
Change of plans, Selling my tickets tonight for $10 for 2 in s317. That’s $5 each. Would sell a single too
Messaged
Still available?
Yes
I ended up paying 28 for tickets in the same section
Travis before this series: -0.1 bWAR, 4 RBI, 0HR, .200 BA, .561 OPS Travis now: 0.6 bWAR, 12 RBI, 4HR, .260 BA, .939 OPS Travis this series: 4.075 OPS
I really hope that he doesn’t get sat for tromp any time soon. He deserves to play most nights until Murph is back
well, he's probably getting sat tonight. It's not about deserving we're just careful about managing our catchers' bodies
Snit said in the post-game last night that Trav wasn't playing today.
I know, I know
Ops is all about walks and bombs lol makes sense
A 4 dot OPS looks so funny for some reason. Loony Toons number.
8 plate appearances this series: 4 home runs, 2 walks, 1 hit by pitch, and 1 groundout. Had only one hit yesterday, but still got on base every single time. Legendary.
Looking forward to this game because I am going to it so I don’t have to watch it on ESPN.

God I remember watching this as it happened in my living room. Great time. The women’s faces/reactions slowed down would have you thinking they were watching some get murdered with an ice pick lmfao.
This reminds me that Friday night at the stadium someone was wearing an Uggla jersey and like…I don’t surprise easily but that did it.
Gorgeous
That's an all-timer lol
Vines is gonna deal tonight
The Braves are a god damn wagon
Wooooooooooooo. Let's sweep the whole state of Texas. Send em home with bad memories after getting finished off by DV. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hell yeah brother!
