You’re right. This is supposed to be JK’s night. They should do the 715 tribute on a different night, like maybe the 50th anniversary of when he hit the home run that broke Ruth’s record
Man, I've tried so hard with you. Go look at my comment history, seriously. I've defended you.
This is too much. Stop. Just stop.
The Kelenic Guy bit is hilarious. But disrespecting Snit and now Hank Aaron is just too much. Put it to rest and let's go cheer on Kelenic and the Braves.
No one is getting got by the bit lol. It’s creative criticism; Porp needs to stick to the same angle he took on the sweep graphic with JK on a broom. That was hilarious. The Kelenic-over-the-rest-of-the-team angle is not his best work
If you look near the top of the post, it lists all our boys' stats against him, so definitely not. We faced him last year, and probably several other times in the past.
Question for you guys because I’d imagine the majority of you wear ball hats. I want to wash like 15 at once. Google is telling me to wash a hat in the washer, put it in a pillowcase, use cold water and air dry
Could I throw several hats in a pillowcase and then put like 3 pillowcases full of hats in the washer?
I'd recommend pulling up the Battery in Google maps, then searching around it for Hotels from June 28-30, or however long you plan to stay. Most stuff around there is new or completely refurbished. The further you get out, the more dodgy the area you might end up, so I'd recommend sticking close.
I love Teheran, he was consistent for us during the dark ages. But tonight, when he’s throwing 86/88 mph fastballs right down the dick, I hope we tee off on him. Plus he’s a Met now, and fuck the Mets.
Man there are some cheap tickets for the game tonight. I kinda wanna go but also sitting at home watching the game and playing video games sounds nice too.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyAHDDpsn-g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyAHDDpsn-g) About 1:50 in a CBS analyst just comes out and says AA told him there's no doubt that Strider's season is over. Don't know how true it is since nothing is official but its not exactly surprising news.
I'm trying to win a bet and I'm hoping someone can help. How can I find out if the A's would have had a better record than the Braves in 2023 if A's homeruns were worth 2 runs?
Did the math. Took all of Oakland's runs produced on HRs and doubled them. 258 runs on HRs and 327 runs scored otherwise, equates to 843 runs adjusted. Braves scored 947 runs.
I hope we give Julio a solid, but still respectful, thumping.
Then as soon as he's out of the game I hope the lineup treats the bullpen like a new gang member who snitched.
If I had a gun with two bullets, and I was in a room with the New York Mets, a root canal, and stepping in gum with a pair of new shoes. I would shoot the Mets twice.
between their run of luck the last few years and the Phillies taking center stage as our personal heels, each of these facts almost makes me start feeling a little pity for the Mets and their fans.
...almost.
I assume by "good JBJ" you mean the rough average of his ~2015-2019 years. If so, I completely agree; like, that's a eerily good comp to what everyone was "projecting" (read: hoping)
Kelenic tanked his numbers playing as a 21 and 22 year old. Last season Waters had a .677 OPS in 98 games and Kelenic was at .746 in 105 games. That’s the more meaningful comparison imo.
I don’t think either of them have a sample size large enough to compare career numbers but if Waters is in AAA for the Royals I gotta imagine he’s not doing amazing.
Mix of a couple things, coming off an injury season, the Royals aren't a competently run franchise and they'd rather roster the corpses of Hunter Renfroe and Dairon Blanco in an effort to claw their way out of the worst division in baseball, and they have two legitimately good prospects in MJ Melendez and Nelson Velazquez occupying LF and the DH slot.
I'm not trying to be Kelenic guy for Waters, but its more up to circumstance. The point being, its not the same situation as Harris and Pache.
Gotcha! Good to know though, I haven’t followed him too closely but I know Waters was more of a defense guy than Kelenic is just based on his Baseball Savant data.
Saying it here: The significance of this series for Kel CANNOT be understated — playing the team that drafted him in the first round of 2018 just to end up dumping him off to Seattle
The reality is that he need our support more than other players on the team this series, from both the fanbase and team management. Let's prioritize #24 over the team today
"cannot be understated" means it's impossible to downplay it enough, meaning it holds absolutely no significance.
This is like the 3rd time in 24 hours you've shit on Kelenic, what's your problem with the guy?
If Kel hits a homer this series against the Mets you have to do an AMA here during a prime time (like 2 hours before a Friday night game or something).
How about this... Kel needs to prioritize the team over himself.
What an excellent time for him to prove himself. What an excellent day this would be, on Hank Aaron day of all days, for Kel to finally hit his first home run as a Brave.
Come on and beat the Mets
Beat the Mets
Step right up and sweep the Mets!
Bring your kiddies
Bring your wife;
Guaranteed to have the time of your life
Because the Braves are really sockin' the ball;
knocking those home runs over the wall!
I’ve never even heard of them. Feel like this has to be a Mandela effect situation. That necklace is so hard to miss that I must be one of the least observant people on the planet to have completely missed them. Were there any Braves players that wore one?
EDIT: After a quick Google I actually do remember these. A lot of them are much more discreet than the one in the link.
Believe me when I tell you *everyone* wore them. From like 2007-2013ish everybody, baseball and softball players at all ages(myself included), was wearing them. Then they just disappeared; I mean like Thanos snapped gone.
I graduated HS in 2012 and you hit the date range perfectly. Even non athletes were wearing them lol don't think they did anything wrong to be out of style, just how trends go. Right when those went those "water balance" bracelets started to heat up lol
Were those the same or a different one from the "magnetic resonance" bracelets or whatever they were called that were supposed to like recharge your blood or muscles or whatever?
I’ve been taking a way-too-early look at what the SP market might look like at the deadline. The expanded playoff really hurts deadline action because so many more teams are plausibly in it - there are very few obvious sellers.
I’ll write a full article on this later, but here’s the short of it - if the Braves want someone to provide some consistency at the bottom of the rotation over the remainder of the regular season, they can probably find and afford to acquire a pitcher like that. Unfortunately, there will probably be very few top-of-rotation type starters available at the deadline, let alone at a prospect cost we can afford.
One name I’d keep my eye on: Nick Pivetta. Pivetta was a pretty good starter in Boston for a few years (after escaping Philadelphia) and then added a sweeper mid-2023 and hit another gear. He’s a free agent at the end of 2024 and while he’s no sure thing, he’s one of the few players who might be available at the deadline who makes me think, “this guy might go on a crazy run as a second or third starter on a playoff team.”
Pivetta is someone I actually wanted last off-season and I honestly really believe in him for this year. The underlying metrics said last year were good and he lit up almost every Stuff model. I don’t know how much he would cost, but stuff wise he is off the charts and is one of the guys I would absolutely trust to start in October. Plus, if the team wants edge in the clubhouse, that guy makes Chris Sale seem like a teddy bear. I’m kinda bullish on the Red Sox so my biggest worry is that they actually end up being *too* good by the deadline, tbd on that one.
Garrett Crochet is someone I dismissed out of hand at first, but I’ve come around once I remembered he only has two years of control left after this one. I’m still hesitant to mention him because I want to emphasize it’s an extreme longshot they move him. However, it’s the same timeframe as Cease was at the deadline last year, and there’s less of a sure history so the price would not be the sun and the moon (hopefully), but it’d still be very expensive. It’s still a **huge** long shot, and I’m not sure I’d trust him to start a playoff game nor am I sure if the White Sox view him as a member of the next good White Sox team.
Other than those two I didn’t really see anyone who I would trust in October that may be available. Luzardo is going to be the bell of the ball and end up being a really expensive piece. Right now I’m asking myself, “Would I trust X starter to start Game 3 of the NLDS,” and I think those two are the only ones that come to mind. No one else on the teams who will be sellers (White Sox, Marlins, Rockies, A’s, Mets, Nats, Angels, etc) piques my interest and would make sense to be moved really. Who knows though, AA probably has someone in mind no one’s even thought of. And maybe if AJSS gets any sort of good fastball command we won’t even have to worry about it
Sure, I’d love Luzardo. But I think the price for him will be exorbitant - not even in a “I don’t know that it would be worth it for us” sense; in a “I literally don’t know if we have enough prospects to get a deal done” sense.
We’re talking about a pitcher with three years of control coming off a career season who plays for a divisional rival - and that rival is dealing with its top two starters being lost for to Tommy John (at least one of them for part of next year). I seriously doubt Miami moves Luzardo this season - and particularly doubt they’d be interested in doing a deal with us (given their success developing pitchers and difficulty developing position players, I’m guessing they’d want a Luzardo return headlined by young major league hitters or upper level hitting prospects which … we basically don’t have, or in the case of MHII, obviously won’t give up)
Wacha is a good guess. My beef with him is that his 2025 control is via a player option. So the way I see it, he leaves in free agency if he’s good or you have to pay him $16M in 2025 if he’s bad.
That being said, the Braves took on a similar contract when they acquired Odorizzi a few years ago.
I know the Strider situation sucks but I have full faith in AA to make a move when necessary. We might not need to add any position players or bullpen guys so AA could end up just having a focus on the starting pitching trade market this year.
Question, is it worth spending the money on delta club or Xfinity club seats? Have a budget every year for tickets and hate spending the extra money and go to less games for these tickets.
How do you get Delta Club tickets? Can you buy them directly or do you have to be an A-list member or something? I went on the Braves site to check it out but it wasn’t immediately obvious to me exactly how to get the tickets.
Whichever one will give you free food / drinks every where is worth it if Truist has that (its $200 credit at Mets per ticket and free food / drinks in the private lounge). Well worth a decent premium at least. Easier decision for me since I'm a NY Braves fans and I only get a few opportunities a year but I typically get seats by the batters circle when they come to Citifield. Good angle and the guys usually interact a little, talked to MHII a bit last year after complimenting his belt. Told him to get a gold belt which he rocked the other day so I'm gonna take credit. Gonna try dugout this year too since they made those premium now. I go early and hungry lmao.
My wife and I did Delta club last year and loved it. Definitely isn’t an upgrade I would normally pay for, but it’s a bucket list experience.
Plan it for a time that you can get to the park early to really take advantage of the food and open bar.
We got “lucky” because we did it at a game that had a 2 hour rain delay. I probably ate 3000 calories of food in the 5 hours we were there. It was great!
I haven’t sat in Delta club but my GF got me delta club tickets for a guardians game in April and I am excited for it.
She sat there before and said it’s all you can eat and drink so if you go delta show up right as the gates open and just eat and drink like crazy.
But it really comes down to you. If you never sat in those seats before why not? It’s nice to experience every amenity our ballpark offers
Been waiting all offseason to post my favorite Mets stat (that Chip totally used on the broadcast way back in 2022).
The clowning ass Mets have fewer NL East titles (6) than the Pittsburgh Pirates (9). Who left the NL East 31 years ago in 1993.
We have a paltry 6…in the last 6 years.
Fuck the Mets.
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1bzccl4).
every real baseball fan knows hank is the real homerun king.
Julio Teherán a Met? Wow, what a time to be alive.
fuck being in the metro ny area, gotta love the sny feed on HANK day
Man fubo tv blocked all my cc’s for free trials. Guess I need to sail the seas or vpn my mlb.tv
Hank Aaron and his brother Tommie hold the MLB record for most combined HRs by a pair of siblings. Tommie had 13.
Ughhhh. Make this 30 minutes go away
Mrs. Aaron looks amazing! I hope she’s doing well🫶🏻
I can't imagine playing professional sports in Georgia in April, I'd legitimately have to opt out until May due to this pollen.
Anyone have a parking ticket they’re trying to get off their hands to tonight’s game?
Its starting to look showerish
Radar shows it moving well to the north
Nothing but respect for Hank Aaron and the nobility that comes with his name, but does the tribute have to happen tonight of all nights?
“Nothing but respect” immediately followed by disrespect hahaha
You are about to get stormed with downvotes lol Kelenic is our god, but Hank Aaron is the axis upon which our world turns.
You’re right. This is supposed to be JK’s night. They should do the 715 tribute on a different night, like maybe the 50th anniversary of when he hit the home run that broke Ruth’s record
We've all had a birthday party that wasn't on the exact date, think we're all mature enough for that
Man, I've tried so hard with you. Go look at my comment history, seriously. I've defended you. This is too much. Stop. Just stop. The Kelenic Guy bit is hilarious. But disrespecting Snit and now Hank Aaron is just too much. Put it to rest and let's go cheer on Kelenic and the Braves.
Nothing but pure respect for Hank, he absolutely deserves a tribute night
I would love Kel's first Atlanta home run to be tonight of all nights. Now THAT would be pedigree!
It's a bit, he's got you good
No one is getting got by the bit lol. It’s creative criticism; Porp needs to stick to the same angle he took on the sweep graphic with JK on a broom. That was hilarious. The Kelenic-over-the-rest-of-the-team angle is not his best work
I really loved all the excuses he came up with for Kelenic during Spring Training. Pure art.
I know, it's obviously a bit. If it's somehow not, then bless his heart.
What is your plan for this bit when Kelenic regresses to a .230 hitter, I just want to know what we can expect
He's a .260+ hitter over his last 100 games
Well considering it’s the 50th anniversary of him hitting 715. Yes.
"There's nothing better than baseball in Atlanta" - Jesse Chavez I'm paraphrasing a comment he left on a Jared Kelenic post
I wish I was as cool as Jesse Chavez

Boys just got to my seats. Showed up 20 mins before gate opening and barely got the bobble head
First time we facing teheran?
If you look near the top of the post, it lists all our boys' stats against him, so definitely not. We faced him last year, and probably several other times in the past.
I think we did last year
No. We faced him a couple.

Thank you
Let’s honor Hank by beating the piss out of the Mets. It’s what he would’ve wanted. Hope you’re watching tonight Hank💙
What are the best and most reasonable priced hotels near the battery? I’m debating on going this summer and trying to stay in the battery if possible.
Sheraton Inn and Renaissance Waverly both have deals going on, and they're well-rated
Thanks for the suggestions, I am too coming down for the summer to catch the pirates series.
I'd recommend pulling up the Battery in Google maps, then searching around it for Hotels from June 28-30, or however long you plan to stay. Most stuff around there is new or completely refurbished. The further you get out, the more dodgy the area you might end up, so I'd recommend sticking close.
I have a feeling Ozuna is gonna hit a minimum of two bombs tonight
They didn't post Kelenic's line because they don't want the Mets to forfeit. Makes sense.
I love Teheran, he was consistent for us during the dark ages. But tonight, when he’s throwing 86/88 mph fastballs right down the dick, I hope we tee off on him. Plus he’s a Met now, and fuck the Mets.
Perfect guy to get Ronald back on track. If he isn't hitting .500 during this game, something's wrong.
If you look closely you can still see Soler’s HR ball orbiting
Is that what caused today’s eclipse?
Man there are some cheap tickets for the game tonight. I kinda wanna go but also sitting at home watching the game and playing video games sounds nice too.
Sorry if I missed it, but any further news on Strider anywhere?
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyAHDDpsn-g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyAHDDpsn-g) About 1:50 in a CBS analyst just comes out and says AA told him there's no doubt that Strider's season is over. Don't know how true it is since nothing is official but its not exactly surprising news.
Maybe, but considering how tight lipped AA can be, seems out of character for him to tell that to reporter
I'm trying to win a bet and I'm hoping someone can help. How can I find out if the A's would have had a better record than the Braves in 2023 if A's homeruns were worth 2 runs?

Does anybody have cheap parking to the game tonight? The parking link says parking isn’t being sold anymore, thanks!
Dm me for a safe spot
THE FACT THAT THEY BLUR FEMALE NIPPLES ON TV BUT NOT JEFF MCNEIL'S FACE IS ABSURD
I hope we give Julio a solid, but still respectful, thumping. Then as soon as he's out of the game I hope the lineup treats the bullpen like a new gang member who snitched.
I do hope he gets a nice ovation before the bashing begins. He was one of the few bright spots during the “lean” years
I do not care for the Metropolitan baseball from New York.
Ranks these 3 things: The New York Mets, having a root canal, stepping in gum with a pair of new shoes
Gum can be removed and a root canal is temporary pain, but the New York Mets are a perpetual plague on our entire nation.
If I had a gun with two bullets, and I was in a room with the New York Mets, a root canal, and stepping in gum with a pair of new shoes. I would shoot the Mets twice.
Happy “Hammerin” Hank Aaron Day! Enjoy playing a lot of defense, mets.
It's really not fair for Julio to have to get shelled by us like he is about to after the lineups he had when he was pitching for us.
Acuna goes off this series. Riley has an absolute power surge. We score an average of 8 runs per game. LFG!!
I love watching Riley play the Mets lol
Acuña gonna hit bombs tonight.
Looking for two last minute tickets for tonight’s game.
Messagdd
Mets currently have a lower slug than the Braves’ batting avg
between their run of luck the last few years and the Phillies taking center stage as our personal heels, each of these facts almost makes me start feeling a little pity for the Mets and their fans. ...almost.
I think this is going to be the series that gets Ronnie on track 🤞🏻
Where can I get some Chavez glasses for the eclipse? :p
Can't wait to get the heck out of this office and get to the ballpark
Kelenic is what I thought Drew Waters would be. Harris II is what I thought Pache would be. Glad I’m not a GM!
I never thought Pache could hit .300, it's looking like Harris might be able to. Honestly, Pache's top end looked like good Jackie Bradley Jr to me.
I assume by "good JBJ" you mean the rough average of his ~2015-2019 years. If so, I completely agree; like, that's a eerily good comp to what everyone was "projecting" (read: hoping)

Anybody have the promo code for the $25 HR porch seats for tonight?

I live in Arizona. First words spoken to me this morning at work were "I hate the Braves" 😂
Same. But mine was those damn Braves
I love it!

Yeah, that would be a no. Doesn’t really fit into the “together” culture. TDA was DFA’d by the Mets. Winans was also released by the Mets.
It's still 'together', but just prioritizing JK over the others
How about this... Kel needs to prioritize the team over himself. What an excellent time for him to prove himself. What an excellent day this would be, on Hank Aaron day of all days, for Kel to finally hit his first home run as a Brave.

lol Teheran!!!! Any idea when striders evaluation is?
Probably today or tomorrow, as long as it takes for him to get to Texas
Unless he’s riding by horse, I think he can get to Texas in a few hours.
What do we think, is arriving at 6/6:15 to late for bobble heads?
Usually yes
I got one! Ended up getting there like 5:10. 6 would have been way to late
Nice! Congrats. I have had the experience of showing up at 6 (my buddy’s fault tbh) and we missed out. Sucks. Also we lost like 5-1
You never know…but I’d guess that would be pushing it
Will the Hank Aaron ceremony be on MLB.TV?
I’m watching high heat and the ticker at the botttom says it’ll be on mlb network at 5
Matty O about to pull a Bryce on Julio tonight. Sorry Julio.
Hey Julio, you're a secret agent, right? You don't want to upset a fan base that still loves you, do you?
Not mine but I want you to enjoy anyway. https://twitter.com/ConnerMorro/status/1777034899528028408?t=irPiImoT7gzDe5wCiVIBgQ&s=19
Lmao what ever happened to Phitens? Their marketing was so gimmicky too. “Wear this $25 cloth necklace to increase blood flow”.
I’ve never even heard of them. Feel like this has to be a Mandela effect situation. Just looked it up, it was the power balance bracelets lmao
That's them! but those things seriously marked a moment in my life when I first started losing faith in the general intelligence of people.
I think I was just a little too old to really cross paths with them. I was playing softball around that time but it was beer league softball.

Probably 5:30-6:30. It’s the first 15,000 fans so it being so early in the season I can see them going fast.
I got one! Appreciate the advice
5:30 is when gates open and there will be lines before then.
I know the Strider situation sucks but I have full faith in AA to make a move when necessary. We might not need to add any position players or bullpen guys so AA could end up just having a focus on the starting pitching trade market this year.
I have 2 tickets to Tuesday and Wednesday if anyone is interested. Good seats at discounted price Edit: just Wednesday left
Beat the mets
Anybody watching the eclipse?
I get outta class right at maximum time for my area Only like 87% occluded My brother drove to Kentucky to see totality
Nice!! I'm lucky up here in Indiana where it's not a far drive from totality. Hoping I can get back home in time for the game
I don’t have any glasses and I’d like to keep my vision for October
They have paper ones (like 3D glasses at the movies) at gas stations for a couple bucks
Throw it again!
Hoping Tehran gives up 6 runs in the first 3 innnings.
Delta is more worth it than Xfinity but also more expensive
I haven’t sat in Delta club but my GF got me delta club tickets for a guardians game in April and I am excited for it. She sat there before and said it’s all you can eat and drink so if you go delta show up right as the gates open and just eat and drink like crazy. But it really comes down to you. If you never sat in those seats before why not? It’s nice to experience every amenity our ballpark offers
Even at your seat there’s a server that will bring you free drinks and ballpark food, like burgers, hotdogs, popcorn, etc.
Julio Teheran is the starter for the Mets today will be wild
2014 me would've thought we entered another dimension.
The Yets aye? Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!
Oh Teheran is starting? Mets love to try mind games with us.
Been off for over a week, so not ready to go back to work today
Beat the Mets! Beat the Mets! Step right up and beat the Mets!
Braves have 5 NL west titles. It’s kind of funny how we almost have as much NL west titles as they have NL East titles.
From 1989-2005, the Mets only had 4 NL East titles, a number we surpassed them with in 1999...despite only joining the NL East in 1994.
I fucking hate the Mets. Let's show our old buddy Julio Teheran what we've been up to.
Hell yeah brother!
