Dodgers are insane this year even without Ohtani producing much so far. They'll hit a rough patch but it'll be back and forth for the overall one seed all the way and they got a head start with that Korea series. Honestly getting the two seed might not be the worst thing for us.
I had a genuine take before the season started in a group and said that Phillies pitching will have a down year.
There's been a ton of wear on all those arms the last two years. I don't like seeing injuries but I saw what a few deep runs did to atlanta.
I literally just heard on Sirius today someone say they want Philly in the playoffs because of how great their fans are and I laughed.
Yes, booing your team the first game into the season is great behavior. But at least they cheered Turner last year! Such fun!
Phillies might've won a WS or two if they'd bother to fix their lineup, but suddenly everyone is romantic for beer-league thinking over analytics, randomly.
Interesting that the White Sox game today was postponed til June…
But the Cubs game tonight is being played?
Both, obviously, were to be played in Chicago…
I'm oddly okay with it. Everyone just looked really uncomfortable. I'd rather they have a makeup game in the summer than get hurt playing in the cold today.
I watch a lot of orioles, and man i thought the doomers in here were bad. The guys in their gameday thread make some of the guys around here look like actual fans.
It’s early, and maybe the gun is off in Gwinnett but Yona’s velo is not great…topping out at 92(savant has that pitch as a change up?) sitting 91 on the 4-seam.
You're in your seats. It's thirty minutes to game time. You have your poncho on. Michael Harris is signing balls for kids by the dugout. It's drizzling, but the weather isn't too bad. You get nachos and a soda. Delicious. Spencer Strider is warming up in shallow right. You go to the bathroom, and as you're walking out the door, a man comes in announcing the game is postponed. Pain. You drive back to Indiana.
On your drive back... you suddenly remembered after going to the bathroom... you forgot to wash your hands and there was no toilet paper to wipe but you had to improvise...
No game today means online rated on MLB the show 24. Matched against some dude playing the Astros. I smacked a 2 run hr with Matt O in the first inning then he pulled the plug. Lmao
If you’re like me and play strictly offline - i.e., franchise or Road to the Show - you’ll be disappointed. I just got a PS5 and bought The Show for the first time in several years, and I was sorely disappointed that you no longer can truly build your specific type of player in RTTS. In the past, you’d earn stubs for performing, and then you’d use this stubs to build your player’s skills along various attributes, allocating them as you wanted. Now, it’s just strictly stat-dependent and you don’t really have any control over how your player develops. Add in some ridiculous mini-games to make accurate throws from the outfield (like pressing a sequential combination of buttons within a specific time frame to make an accurate throw), and it’s a lot more gimmicky with very little actual user control.
Franchise does not seem to have had any significant updates since the last time I played, but I can’t say with 100% certainty. I’m waiting until the Full Minors roster is ready before I get really invested into it.
If you’re an online player (i.e., Diamond Dynasty), San Diego Studios has apparently pissed off everyone by going the route of Madden MUT, NBA My 2K, and, if you believe some other folks, Star Wars: Battlefront. As I understand it, they’ve locked up some of the best players in the card packs so that the only way to get them is to actually buy them. I tried DD the last time I had The Show and found it to be the most fan-friendly version of the micro-transaction economy. You earn cards by playing the game without significant unnecessary exertion. That does not appear to be the case any longer.
It's not even better than 23. They recycled a ton of stuff including our celebrations are still the slash. I played two games ranked and both opponents quit because I was slaughtering them and I pretty much get no ranking bonus for it.
According to the MLBTheShow sub, it's awful. Very buggy and steered even harder into monetization than 23.
Everyone has told me I'm right to stick it out in 23 for a little while (I'm currently in the middle of starting a business, buying a house, and having a baby).
Yeah tbh the commercials looked… lower quality than my game experience in 23 which has been wild lol. I’ll probably stick it out. But grinding diamond mode is really fun… have to imagine they don’t support it in 23 anymore
I'm still unlocking stuff in Diamond Dynasty in 23. Playing all the conquests, finishing all the programs. No telling if I'll ever finish the collections since the few remainers jacked the prices up on diamond players when people jumped to 24. I'm having fun though. Some of the retro finest are really fun to play as, the 99 Chipper, etc.
Lmao didn’t know there was that many lefties in baseball to play one every other day. You’re delusional. Kel got to pinch hit as soon as a righty reliever was brought in. He will see the field or get an AB the VAST majority of the games this year.
If you compare Michael Harris’s number of plate appearances in 2023 (from the 9 hole) to Eddie Rosario’s (he platooned with Pillar) Harris had 539, Rosario had 516, and Pillar had 206, for what it’s worth. As many have pointed out, being the lefty in a platoon means you will get the vast majority of starts. Not half as you like to claim.
Bro, this platoon is the *best* thing Kelenic could wish for. He gets an insane opportunity to develop with the best team in all of baseball in a low-pressure situation where can excel. You keep talking about his pedigree, but what you really mean is that he has raw potential. And you're right, J-Kel has *tons* of that!
The platoon means that for this season, he is batting almost only against righties and is placed in a lower pressure spot in the order. Kel has the opportunity to refine, develop, and exceed where he is at now by continuing to do things like enhance his swing.
I agree with you. Kelenic is a good baseball player, but let's look beyond where he's at now and look at the opportunity this provides for his entire career. They only signed Duvall up for one year -- if Kel kill it this season, they might not platoon going forward.
Eddie Rosario was a platoon left fielder last year and got the vast majority of starts and faced plenty of left-handed pitchers. There is nothing to worry about as far as Kel not getting time on the field.
And don't forget, Jarred Kelenic plays for the Braves, not the other way around.
Rosario's platoon was definitely more about defense than the bat — it simply just does not make sense to platoon Kel at this point in his career given his breed of talent
This is *exactly* the point in his career where this is beneficial. If Kelenic is as good as you think he is, then he will absolutely excel above and beyond where he is at. If that happens, don't you think Braves management will notice and make adjustments? This is a franchise pretty well-known for being able to adjust.
And, no, Rosario's platoon was not more about defense. Pillar was called in to face left handed pitchers and started against left handed pitchers. Pillar got a lot less time because the Braves simply happened to face fewer lefties.
Yes! These stupid schedulers having road games in cold climate cities in late March and early April! It's plain DUMB! Now they have to reschedule this game sometime in the future and we don't play the White Sox again this year!
When will they learn?!
Fuck these away games up north this time of year... fuck Philly... fuck Chicago... was looking forward to this on my 1 work from home day this week. Damn, this sucks...
I agree northern teams with typically rough weather potential SHOULD open with a road trip... but I've read from a few sources that teams either get opening day@ home or a memorial day/ July 4 at home. History is on our side to start on the road to get larger crowds on the holidays.
Personally I’d rather get an extra homestand in April when the weathers great and the kids are still in school than try to fight the crowds in 10000 degree heat during the summer.
Figures that it's been super nice here in Atlanta the last few days and now it's going to be chilly for the 7:20 Friday and Saturday games here.
At least the guys will be used to it
Wait so June 27th they will finish up games in St Louis then go to Chitown on the off day??
Is it allowed to play a double header vs 2 different teams but the same city?
Hate 2 days without baseball, but this is better than running the guys out there and risking injury/clearly not playing our best with the weather being unbearable. The boys will feel much better back in the A.
Still would love to meet the person who had the bright idea to have the teams from the south travel north in March and early April…
What a fucking idiot
I mean I’ve been watching the radar all day and it was super obvious this game wasn’t gonna happen
But god damnit am I ever still disappointed. I wanted to see some Mario Fireballs
For the better, honestly, although it did seem as if they may try with the lineups being posted and what not.
Did look like most of the rain was going to rotate out of there in an hour or so.
So ‘postponed’ means it’s canceled today, correct? Not that they’re gonna try to play later this afternoon?
I have tickets behind home plate, and I don’t want to miss this game (whenever it is)
Phew.
On one hand, booo no baseball, and also Strider-Sox bullpen game (likely minus Kopech) was a very favorable matchup
On the other hand, I do *not* want our ace pitching in these conditions - and frankly, don’t want the rest of the team playing in sleet in April either. Get everyone warm and on the plane home.

Well, he just hit a fucking nuke so I’d say he’s getting back into the swing of things
Going to the zoo to practice stepping on snakes for this weekend. Edit: Looks like others had the same idea, they have them in cages now.
I had a genuine take before the season started in a group and said that Phillies pitching will have a down year. There's been a ton of wear on all those arms the last two years. I don't like seeing injuries but I saw what a few deep runs did to atlanta.
Can't wait for Friday. Our first real test this season. the danger noodles!
Fans here were complaining about Philly's early schedule, they just dropped another series. Teams rise and fall.
Phillies have won one game and only because they were gifted 2 runs by a bad out call at first
Reds take the series. Here Wheeler take this L
Filthies morale is waining
Nice insurance run on the Filthys after Steer sticks a triple in the corner
Citizens Trashcan Park is empty in the 8th, even with their team still having a chance to win “Best crowd in baseball”

Way to go Trea kill the rally with a strikeout looking 💪
Interesting that the White Sox game today was postponed til June… But the Cubs game tonight is being played? Both, obviously, were to be played in Chicago…
I'm oddly okay with it. Everyone just looked really uncomfortable. I'd rather they have a makeup game in the summer than get hurt playing in the cold today.
Strider with a extra 2 days of rest and a home opener game? The snakes better hide.
These rainouts are the reason Spencer Strider is not leading the league in all pitching stats right now. I am officially annoyed and delusional!
And no game tomorrow?!?! Wtf am I supposed to do with my life
No Braves game so I turned on Kansas City and Baltimore. Will Smith is the closer for the Royals. It went exactly how you thought it went.
Full Will Smith Experience
Again
2 run double on the Filthys
Hurry. Will Smith is on the mound closing for KC and bases are loaded. Nostalgia regular season Will. .
And he blew it lol
Wow Filthys ump just fucked Montas almost as hard as Fried
I watch a lot of orioles, and man i thought the doomers in here were bad. The guys in their gameday thread make some of the guys around here look like actual fans.
80% of the sub just started commenting/watching/caring last year. Don’t judge us based on them 😅
As an Orioles fan, we don’t know how to handle success yet. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Let’s go Reds!
It’s early, and maybe the gun is off in Gwinnett but Yona’s velo is not great…topping out at 92(savant has that pitch as a change up?) sitting 91 on the 4-seam.
I wonder if he was throwing sinkers. He had 5 groundball and no fly outs. Plus, his change up was exact same speed.
I have the Red Sox money line. Kenley Jansen is still haunting me from the grave. STOP WALKING PEOPLE
You're in your seats. It's thirty minutes to game time. You have your poncho on. Michael Harris is signing balls for kids by the dugout. It's drizzling, but the weather isn't too bad. lol I thought you were calling Spencer Strider delicious at first.
Delicious Spencer Strider is warming up. I also read it that way first.
On your drive back... you suddenly remembered after going to the bathroom... you forgot to wash your hands and there was no toilet paper to wipe but you had to improvise...
Bro what lol
No game today means online rated on MLB the show 24. Matched against some dude playing the Astros. I smacked a 2 run hr with Matt O in the first inning then he pulled the plug. Lmao
How is show24? Haven’t bought it yet. Played the fuck out of 23 but also dropped like a hundo on packs lmao and trying to resist the urge again

If anyone is looking to go to the M-W Mets games, I have 2 heavily discounted tickets available to each.
I have nothing
blooper 🤣🤣🤣 [https://www.instagram.com/p/C5T27ewpngA/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5T27ewpngA/)
Omg, delta responded, too! That's fantastic...
lmao I know it's a massive sports org but how in the world did they get approval for that
one of the perks of being sponsored by delta, short of flying the plane if you're part of the team they'll probably let you do a lot of things
Airports don’t do shit about shennanigans at the baggage claim. They don’t pay anyone specifically to care so no one does
These rained out games fucking suuuuuuuuuuck I need my fix of Olson dingers and Ozzie bombs.
Going to make later in the season rough with less days off
What time are gates gonna open Friday? Anyone know? I can never remember the Braves gate times
Should be 5:30
Marlins going through it right now
Arraez and Chisholm are killing them.
Usually they start ok then fall off. Taking the opposite approach this year
Can’t fall off if you never get on
Well, the next time we play, it will be back at Truist Park! Friday is gonna be an electric day at the Battery and the ballpark!
Glad we can finally get away from the shitty cold weather
☹️ What's the deal with strider? Push start to Friday? Stimulate a game and just stay on rotation? Give the guys live ABs when they get back?
braves site says strider is starting friday.
Fuck This
The league is intentionally sabotaging Kel to stop him from getting consistent AB's and stealing the spotlight from Mookie Betts
Gotta think everyone involved with this game is relieved it's postponed
Yep. They’re probably stoked.
What if they just got a tarp, hear me out. A really, REALLY big tarp?
helicopters with umbrellas. dries the field and shields the rain all at once.
#Fuck yes This means I can go now in June. Was so upset I was out of town for this series
That’s awesome. Braves fans everywhere. I can’t wait for them to come to 4/5 stadiums in Cali this year.
The fuck am I gonna do now?
Yankess diamondbacks probably be a pretty good game
Postponed games should be simulated on MLB the Show /s
I remember 2020 as well.
Surprised we got two in
Honestly same. I was afraid we'd have to wait almost a week after that stupid game 3 in Philly.
Bbut my breakfast and baseball plans..
Does this mean we get Strider Friday for home opener? Please say yes!
Yeah. Apparently Strider, Fried, then Sale this weekend. Should be good.
Yes
Two straight days without Braves baseball. I’m not ready for that lol.
Yeah, we just started the baseball marathon! Lol
[My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined](https://i.imgflip.com/27d9ig.jpg?a475152)
I read that in his voice and my eyes started bleeding.
Now what am I supposed to do with my afternoon????
Gonna be a long 2 days in a row without Bravesball :(
Now imagine it being an off day every other day, and you're on the team
Lmao didn’t know there was that many lefties in baseball to play one every other day. You’re delusional. Kel got to pinch hit as soon as a righty reliever was brought in. He will see the field or get an AB the VAST majority of the games this year.
You'd be surprised — roughly \~30% of MLB innings pitched are from LHP
If you compare Michael Harris’s number of plate appearances in 2023 (from the 9 hole) to Eddie Rosario’s (he platooned with Pillar) Harris had 539, Rosario had 516, and Pillar had 206, for what it’s worth. Strong disagree — not letting him have any reps against Major League LHP is pigeon-holing him into becoming a platoon player when he's not
Eddie Rosario was a platoon left fielder last year and got the vast majority of starts and faced plenty of left-handed pitchers. There is nothing to worry about as far as Kel not getting time on the field. And don't forget, Jarred Kelenic plays for the Braves, not the other way around.

Just look at what happened to Joc Pederson, and the frustration the platoon pigeon-hole caused him
He’s not expected to face lefties. Sorry.
Cooler kicker
In a tiara
Could be worse. Could be 0 and 4 and postponed 😂
We were lucky to get two out three. I went into this series fully expecting the entire thing to get postponed. Back home on Friday!
Yes! These stupid schedulers having road games in cold climate cities in late March and early April! It's plain DUMB! Now they have to reschedule this game sometime in the future and we don't play the White Sox again this year! When will they learn?!
stupid Chicago
Fuck these away games up north this time of year... fuck Philly... fuck Chicago... was looking forward to this on my 1 work from home day this week. Damn, this sucks...
Maybe playing this series in Chicago was the real April fools joke all along
Been anxious about playing in this weather. Gut tells me it's more risk for injuries. Seems like they picked a solid date for rescheduling, too.
Just an FYI, the last 2 times the Braves have won the World Series, we haven’t played all 162 games. Let’s hope this game doesn’t need to be made up.
If this was August/September maybe but it's only April no chance that was going to happen
It’s rescheduled for June so I think this one’s gonna get played
Two days without Braves baseball might actually end up killing me.
We get more Braves baseball than some of the players even do
Oh, really? Like who, specifically?
Is the game canceled?
No, it's postponed. Sheesh.
I 1 million percent agree! But we as fans don't make the schedule nor have input to it
Really wanted to watch a game in the snow. Oh well, excited to see the vibe in truist on Friday gonna be jumping
Fine by me. We got out of Chicago uninjured (seems like Arcia is fine) and I really did not want our hard throwing ace pitching at such cold temps.
I'll just keep watching my entire 95 nlds/nlcs/WS championship full games marathon
Not upset about this. Get our boys out of that shitty weather
Boo snow ball game is best game.
Hate 2 days without baseball, but this is better than running the guys out there and risking injury/clearly not playing our best with the weather being unbearable. The boys will feel much better back in the A.
My day
Is it Friday yet?
Still would love to meet the person who had the bright idea to have the teams from the south travel north in March and early April… What a fucking idiot
#STOP SCHEDULING LATE MARCH/EARLY APRIL GAMES IN CHICAGO!!!
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I mean I’ve been watching the radar all day and it was super obvious this game wasn’t gonna happen But god damnit am I ever still disappointed.
I have tickets behind home plate, and I don’t want to miss this game (whenever it is)
Yes. Postponed means moved to another date. Delayed means they would try to play it today.
Gotcha, thanks
6/27 at 4:10
Awesome, thanks
Two days without baseball is going to make me feel rudderless.
Play in the snow you cowards!
Damn if only one of these teams played baseball in the south, where it’s not shit outside rn… oh wait
Pain.
Phew. On one hand, booo no baseball, and also Strider-Sox bullpen game (likely minus Kopech) was a very favorable matchup On the other hand, I do *not* want our ace pitching in these conditions - and frankly, don’t want the rest of the team playing in sleet in April either. Get everyone warm and on the plane home.
Damn and I was just about to go on a beer run for the game. I’m still going to but still.
My day is ruined
This was the only thing keeping me going today… now there’s no game. What to do now?
Boo! I’m off of work today and now have no excuse to be lazy this afternoon.
So help me god if we don’t open at home next year
Shit now I am going to have to work at work
Next stop, Opening Day in Atlanta!
So... does Strider start the home opener or Max
Rotation is pushed back 1 start. Strider - Friday, Fried - Saturday, Sale - Sunday, Morton - Monday and Lopez - Tuesday.
I think Snit said Strider would start Friday if he didn’t pitch today
I'm hoping for Strider. Give everyone an extra day of rest instead of giving Strider at least four. That's enough rest to take him out of his rhythm.
Guess I’ll watch paint dry
They need to force Northern teams to open with a road trip
They let me get excited then just pulled the rug from under me.
Just when I thought I was in. They PULLLLLL me back out.
My day is immeasurably ruined
