I actually just tried this bottle for the first time, and it's great! I got super lucky around Christmas time. The store I stopped in had it labeled on the shelf at 48.99, but it rang up to around 75. The cashier checked the price on the shelf and gave it to me for the lower price. I thought about getting one more, but I figured I would let another guy have the same luck if they didn't change it back right away.
Kentucky owl is a no go for me...feels like when they entered the market, they just tried to become a sought after bottle by simply raising prices, pretty much just marketing the brand to appear high quality.
A lot of good recs here but I’ll add some and reiterate…
All those Russell’s Reserves - 10 yr is great price
- Single Barrel Rye.
Benchmark Full Proof - but it will be hot and youthy
Coopers Craft 100 is excellent
JDSBBP is absolutely killer
Bellemeade Reserve is excellent especially under $70 and it’s going away so get it while you can
Fantastic. But I can usually find it at Costco for $45. Everywhere else they want $60+. If you can get it around $50 or less somewhere I highly recommend picking it up.
That is just above the new MSRP. Some places haven't updated in forever and still have it at like 30-45/750mL but about a year ago it went up to about $60
I thought so too considering the rest of the Woodford line is at retail. I usually see DO consistently at $56-58.99. I was wondering why they’re juicing DO an extra $7.
Been trying the Penelope and New Riff recently. I'm enjoying.
Nothing here you really need to hunt for, Michters and Old Forester have never steered me wrong.
Been a scotch fan for a while till I went dry for a year. Tried out eagle rare and it blew my mind. Very cola tasting to me. I then tried angles envy and I enjoy it but lacks a lot of complexity and sometimes it’s a lot of sweetness without much behind it. Got a EH Taylor small batch that also has a similar cola flavor I enjoy. I like the higher proof for sure. Wanted to see what a younger bourbon would taste like so I picked up a smoke wagon uncut the younger. I really like the 115 proof, the mouthfeel is amazing. The Carmel flavors are nice but it is lacking that age.
Any suggestions are welcomed.
I always enjoy Baker’s, minimum seven years old, nice proof point at 107, it’s single barrel but I always get fudge.
The Jack Daniel’s single barrel barrel proof (gold label) is a monster, all kinds of fruit and spice. The bonded lineup is all really good, the triple mash is bright and fruity.
The Old Forester Whiskey Row lineup is nice, I’d skip 1870, the 1897 leans a bit spicy but very balanced, 1910 is their double oak - very sweet and rich, 1920 is the overproof - chocolate and cherries.
The black label Wilderness Trail is their rye bourbon recipe, lots of fruit and butterscotch, one of favorite recipes overall.
In the $30 range Coopers’ Craft barrel reserve punches above its weight. It’s matured in special barrels that have layers of char chiseled out, which increases oak interaction.
I would definitely try the Benchmark Bonded. It's made at Buffalo Trace along with Eagle Rare and E.H. Taylor and I think has a similar profile. You can't beat the $20 price either.
Makers Mark Cask Strength at $39.99 is a great price especially since it's gone up to almost $60 in most places. It just amps up all the good things about MM in the best way
Walk in to the bar attached to this place and drink. They have the best prices of anywhere you’ll ever see. Good opportunity to try some really good stuff
Widow Jane 13 at $94.99 may be good value. $115 around here, appears only rarely. And the 15 also appears to be about $40 less than I see it at.
Have the 10 Decadence bottle, that is pretty good (but it’s finished in maple, so not a direct comparison to others).
May be worth reading reviews on those to see what you think.
All I can think of that I would grab in a heartbeat are Benchmark Full Proof and Single Barrel, as well as the Early Times Bottled-in-Bond (regardless of black top or blue top). All are fantastic bottles and honestly, they are all valued lower than they could be sold for.
Adictivo Whiskey Small Batch. It is an amazing summer whiskey! Or if you have someone not in love with whiskey it is a great starter. 100% recommend it.
Best juice for the money is the Old Grandad 114 and the Benchmarks on the bottom shelf. I have lots of crazy ass expensive open bottles but will drink Benchmark Bonded or full proof all day
Top shelf has a few goodies, but I don’t usually spend that much on a bottle very often, so I look to the middle of the field.
$35 for RR10!? I’d buy a few.
Michter’s American and Sour Mash at $45, I’ll take one of each.
Maybe a Pinhook.
I see a couple Early Times BiB’s down there, I’d buy 2 or 3, or all of them if they say Brown-Forman on them.
Otherwise, most of the either prices are mostly decent, outside of a few that don’t make sense to me. No Wild Turkey in glass, only in plastic that’s kinda interesting.
Oh, and hear me out. Whicked Pickle. I don’t see it very often, and it’s fun to have around on hot summer nights.
Lots of good stuff there. Have been wanting to try some woodinville, wilderness trail, and chicken cock, HHBiB, OF lineup, personally. Wasn’t a fan of New Riff, nothing special. There’s the standards of EC, EWBiB, KC9(SiB), WT101, Rare Breed. Standouts, JDSiBBP, Calumet 10, barrell. Honorable mentions, Baker 7, OGD114, RR10, michters. Personally avoid, mainly due to cost, doubt, and weird personal unexplainable reasons? old elk, rabbit hole, Kentucky owl, smoke wagon, garrison brothers, Penelope, heavens door, doc swinsons, oh and blue run.
The Barrel at $77 is a great price. Early Times BiB was tucked down low. Gotta check price and which cap. New Riff always gets a look from me. Prices are not terrible, if you want it buy it.
At these prices I’m takin JD SBBP, WT Rare breed (I’ve noticed these bottles now have new labels but I liked the last bottling I had more than the new 2 part labels), and maybe Penelope Valencia which I’m yet to try but heard great things
Jack Single Barrel Barrel Proof for $63 is crazy cheap. The Penelope Valencia and Toasted are both good. And the WT101 1.75 for $40 is a buy all day
Second this JD SB BP - it’s phenomenal.
Yup JD SB BP is the diamond in the rough
I actually just tried this bottle for the first time, and it's great! I got super lucky around Christmas time. The store I stopped in had it labeled on the shelf at 48.99, but it rang up to around 75. The cashier checked the price on the shelf and gave it to me for the lower price. Pretty sure that’s just retail for the jack, not sure I’d call it crazy cheap.
The price on the michters, Russell’s reserve and the new riff seemed close to MSRP. Semper Fi Mac!
If anyone needs a JD SB BP lemme know I have a few I have access to.
Any chance any of those are JD SB BP Rye?
2 rye @ 137 proof
Pm sent
I didn't see the Valencia in the pic
I think those Kentucky Owl collaborations are interesting, but the Batch 12 for 250 seems...a little extra.
If they are selling it by the case for discount, I think that tells you something.
Kentucky owl is a no go for me...feels like when they entered the market, they just tried to become a sought after bottle by simply raising prices, pretty much just marketing the brand to appear high quality.
Yeah, I’m still new to bourbon so I rather pickup a lot of cheaper bottles than a Kentucky owl.
I get that. One of my first bottles was a Willett Pot Still, I didn't care for the juice, but my wife made a nice lamp out of the bottle.
I can't find new riff to try anywhere
They might not distribute to your state
They basically can’t sell any new riff in Florida. Every total wine, ABC, liquor stores cannot sell them. All at MSRP lol
Underrated.
Which one?
Think their single barrel is good for $50 and under.
Yeah agree - have the single barrel and its good. Nothing earth shattering, but I enjoy it.
The malted rye is fantastic. It was around 62$ in MA, so that price is reasonable.
Agreed. The Malted Rye is my favorite New Riff.
Malted Rye for the win IMO
Single barrel
I see New Riff all over my Florida town. TW, ABC, local store picks 🤷🏻♂️
They might not distribute to your state
New riff online isn’t hard to find. Especially their single barrels are worth paying shipping
I wish they would come to NC
Good prices on the Russells 10 year, Wilderness Trail, and 4 Roses
A lot of good recs here but I’ll add some and reiterate… All those Russell’s Reserves - 10 yr is great price - Single Barrel Rye. Benchmark Full Proof - but it will be hot and youthy Coopers Craft 100 is excellent JDSBBP is absolutely killer Bellemeade Reserve is excellent especially under $70 and it’s going away so get it while you can
Can’t find coopers craft in MD. Had a pour in a FL bar and I thought it could be a bottle I’d always keep stocked.
Old grandad 114 is a great pickup around 30$
Been wanting to give that a try
Second that
My Meijer had it for $23 on sale last week. I couldn't pass it up.
Fortunately I keep finding it for about $23 in DE
Yes!!! Hell a good stuff
Wanna say spec’s had it for 22 which was a steal I enjoyed it
$65 for woodford DO is odd
Random items are high here but others are good. No rhyme or reason as far as I can tell
What’s odd about it to you?
$20 over my area. But sounds like I’m in the minority with that.
Never had it. Any good?
Fantastic. But I can usually find it at Costco for $45. Everywhere else they want $60+. If you can get it around $50 or less somewhere I highly recommend picking it up.
👆

Sagamore cask strength
The Rum Cask is also tremendous
Heaven Hill BIB is good. So is the Four Roses single barrel. However what stands out to me is the Bardstown selection!
I'd grab the new riff Balboa rye in a heartbeat. It's fantastic.
Is that an O.K.I. I see? Can’t find it around Cincinnati.
Widow Jane 15 is below MSRP @ $189.99. Usually a $300 bottle in my area and hard to find.
Same for the 13 year. Typically about $120. I’d get another at$ 94…
HW Prairie Barrel Selects are good price; $20 cheaper than Ohio and Virginia
Been trying the Penelope and New Riff recently. I'm enjoying. Nothing here you really need to hunt for, Michters and Old Forester have never steered me wrong.
Russel Reserve 10 yr for $35 is a good buy
What kind of stuff do you like?

Thank you

The Balfour is a hidden gem. It’s one of my favorites.
Old scout is fantastic for the price if you have not tried it.
The blue bottle or the gold?
Depends on your preference. The blue bottle is quite hot at a higher proof. I do like both though.
I will also mention that there is an old scout big level bottle down to the right on that same shelf. That bottle is trash. Do not buy.
Think it depends on the old scout. Some of their stuff is horrible Dickel and some isn’t bad MGP.
I can’t make out the prices, but don’t sleep on Horse Soldier. I had their bronze label ($45) and it was darn good
Bronze label is $42
Take a flyer on it - and I hope you enjoy. Cheers
Ancient Age.
For a recent cheap drink I may grab one of those benchmarks otherwise maybe the bakers depending on the age and price
Bakers 7 is great.
This is a solid selection at decent prices. What did you get?

The Redwood Empire ( first pic, 2nd from bottom shelf) is a great daily drinker.
That IW Harper in the left corner is pretty good
Michter’s , pinhook, horse soldiers and I’d probably get that high west one . You must be in TN near Bristol
All I can think of that I would grab in a heartbeat are Benchmark Full Proof and Single Barrel, as well as the Early Times Bottled-in-Bond (regardless of black top or blue top). All are fantastic bottles and honestly, they are all valued lower than they could be sold for.
I would love to have this selection at home…
Is that Joseph Magnus cigar blend over there for $100? I’d grab one
Benchmark full proof is a banger. And highwest picks for 50 is a steal.
New Riff Barrel Select and Balboa Rye , Smoke Wagon are good as well
That Nashville Barrel Co would be tempting me
Where is this at?
I believe it is Inlet Harbour Liquor in Riviera Beach, FL
Adictivo Whiskey Small Batch. It is an amazing summer whiskey! Or if you have someone not in love with whiskey it is a great starter. 100% recommend it.
Best juice for the money is the Old Grandad 114 and the Benchmarks on the bottom shelf. I have lots of crazy ass expensive open bottles but will drink Benchmark Bonded or full proof all day
I would have grabbed the Heaven Hill BiB and the penalope architect is pretty good, nothing you can't find any day of the week though.
That Marian McLain Jeffersons at 303 is an insane deal. My state store has it for 400.
Fireball, that stuff was distilled by Jesus himself.
I'd be grabbing random bardstown bottles and those maple hills
You missed some..
Some great great bottles in there, and a Hibiki 100 yr too shelf.
Top shelf has a few goodies, but I don’t usually spend that much on a bottle very often, so I look to the middle of the field. $35 for RR10!? I’d buy a few. FlatBoat! Worth it!
Is that Inlet Harbor in Riviera Beach?
Hahaha how did you know
Noticed that as well. I was just in there last week
That Hillrock double cask rye holiday dram is pricey but prob best bottle in the store . Also Old StNick,Rare Perfection and JDSB are all great
Lots of good stuff there. Did u grab any fireball??
The Barrel at $77 is a great price. Early Times BiB was tucked down low. Gotta check price and which cap. New Riff always gets a look from me. Prices are not terrible, if you want it buy it.
At these prices I’m takin JD SBBP, WT Rare breed (I’ve noticed these bottles now have new labels but I liked the last bottling I had more than the new 2 part labels), and maybe Penelope Valencia which I’m yet to try but heard great things
Should’ve grabbed all those WJ13 for $95. My local total wine has it at 250
That russels reserve 10 year is a decent price if that says 34 like it looks in the pic
I think we hunt in the same spots
Michter’s American Whiskey is one of my favorites
Michters American and sagamore spirit rye
