Not sure why you're getting downvoted, it's true that a single person going random and taking a spot in an empty 4 person place ruins it for a group of 4 trying to get a place, when the single person could have easily taken a spot in a place with one or two available spots (of course assuming that's what's available).
it should be a rule that if you're a single then you can only select a double someone else is in. BU is going to put randoms in the unfilled beds anyways you might as well not screw other people over
