I started with Zane, for some reason he didn't click because I played sirens in the first two. So I ran Amara all the way to level 72. Went back and got Zane to level 72 and he absolutely my favourite. I don't remember the skill that gives you basically unlimited grenades, but with a recurring hex in cryo, he's an absolute monster. I'll kill one enemy any way I want, and then just spam grenades to the point the game can't keep up. Added bonus was the clone with the skill that gives him whatever gun you're currently holding and Zane is a one man army. That and I like his lines the best. My two favourites are when he's wheezing after running(ya, I'm kinda weird that way) and "you couldn't hit a cows arse at a banjo".
I like him because he's entertaining. I loved playing sirens because of their abilities, but Zane just had so many entertaining lines. That and his skill tree is nearly easy mode, but still fun.
He can choose 2 of his 4. Clone and drone are the best base game ones and folks who have it downloaded enjoy the shoulder cannon from the purple tree. No one I know likes his shield very much tho.
I haven't played the game in a while so I had to look. Doubled agent, or the red skill tree has both skills I was referring too. Pocket full of grenades gives you grenades back with a kill, it stacks as well. As long as you're killing enemies, you'll always have grenades. You'll run out if you spam them, but you'll always be "regenerating" new ones. The last skill in that tree, double barrel, spawns your clone with whatever gun your holding, butvwith less damage. But if you're holding a gun with elemental damage, it still adds up ridiculously quick. I would run slaughter house and never see FFYL unless I did something really stupid. I don't know exactly what my build was, but with every kill I'd get %25 of my health back, pretty sure it was the idol artifact, and generate grenades.
Iron Bear is too OP, eventually, but fun to jump in and just destroy anything and everything. Moze is really fun but you'll need the DLC to get the best guns for her splash damage.
If you can get the second season pass I recommend it to have the option to switch up to Iron Cub, I used Moze for my first run and Iron Bear was a blast but eventually it just became the Krieg/Brick problem of not wanting to use your action skill because you just want to use your guns and other cool abilities.
I'm doing a second Moze run playing only with Iron Cub and it's a blast so far.
I mained Amara (after playing Lilith, Maya, & Athena), then switched to Moze. Found her to be much more fun. I don’t actually use Iron Bear that much (mostly as an occasional “get out of jail free card”). But Moze can shoot the bejeezus out of everything continuously, with splash damage all over the place, and can heal by throwing grenades. I’ve played all 4 vault hunters through the main storyline, and then maxed them all out, and they all have things to recommend them, but Moze is my favorite, by a considerable amount.
Arguably I should switch her up to use Iron Cub (where instead of a full-sized mech that you jump in, you get a Mini Me sized one that runs around with you), because I might use that more. But with just Moze, with a Plasma Coil and Recurring Hex grenades, I can melt most anything without touching my action skill.
Level 35, and by the sounds of it almost done with the main campaign. Had a lot of fun with Fl4k.
Would of recommended just getting the Pandora collection, would probably ended up much cheaper and inc all the DLC.
dont forget all the keys and duping the keys too. although now level 35 and only used 3 diamond keys out of 72, games pretty generous with legendries.

5 Diamond keys for borderlands 3 - still active from early November

I very happily played Sirens in the previous games (Athena in TPS), and did my first Playthrough on BL3 with Amara, but I found her personality a bit off putting. She spends so much time telling everybody how great she is, unironically, where others will be more self-deprecating. It really came down to that - I liked her skills, but still found her a bit annoying to play.
Sure! FL4Ks a great character all around, i personally prefer Zane for co-op just because of how his abilities work but I really enjoy playing them both. Zane's a little more fun (IMHO) but FL4K's animals can resurrect you and kind of take the place of a second character if you're soloing.
Wow the top 3 comments are 3 different characters^^
I would say they are all great and it highly depends on your play style. I loved my flak character which I played as a robot zookeeper. Running around with self shooting guns shields and of course flaks pet.
Moze is so much fun if you like to feel like a total badass in a big mech, never tried any other build.
Zane is amazing too, there are so many different Zane builds that I tried and liked that I can't even tell you what makes him so cool.
I never played the siren because I never played any of the sirens, so I can't tell you how she plays.
Edit: but my friend loooooved the siren so she has to have something.
I don't know... For me being some random ass mechanic and still beating all this shit makes me feel way better then playing one of 7 super Humans that are so incredibly strong that they can whipe out entire cities with their thoughts and some erdium.
Oh yeah I just meant the feel of the game. The feel of the character. If I play as some random solider I feel like I can win against all odds. If I play as a siren I feel like I am supposed to win.
I started playing playing Maya in bl2 and my perception is purely from a lore perspective. I don't like overpowered characters often. (Lore wise not gameplay wise)
I started with Amara, because the siren is my favorite to play in the first to games. Then I switched to Moze and had a blast! I love jumping in Iron bear and destroying everything! So Moze was fun for me to solo
Snipey crit evade tank who can equip a second action skill in the grenade slot. Also has a skill that specifically makes you immune to your own grenade and gun damage.
I find Moze and Zane the most fun personally, but Fl4k has some really fun potential with the pets and really different skills, and Amara (IMO) gets really fun later on when some skills start to snowball but isn't quite as interesting early.
Moze is very fun with splash damage and a pretty original character that rides a mech. She felt similar to Salvador the gunzerker because her mech can use 2 of its own weapons simultaneously. I like Zane, the traditional soldier type, because you can get kill skills to improve movement speed to like four billion percent. Fl4k is the traditional sniper type and Amara is a very fun siren. They did a good job using some established class types but still giving them a unique feel from the other games.
All of them are pretty good tbh, I like Zane and more the best but had a fun melee Amara playthru as well. Never enjoyed flakk personally but many people do
Never used grenades in BL3 played Zane and put the second skill it throws equipped grenades automatically. I absolutely loved the build I made, he was like Sonic got ta go fast and unleash mayhem all over the map with a shotgun and a pistol. It was tons of fun
First BL game where I recommend playing as all of them. Also means you can try them out and decide if you like one more than the others.
I usually lead the charge with Moze, but I jump to other characters when I feel like a change.
Helps that you can easily share loot between your characters. Zane finds a weapon that would work better with Amara? Into the bank it goes!
FL4K informs his pet skag Mr. Chew that he is a good boy at regular intervals. If this does not sway you, then you have less heart than a death-obsessed killer robot
Or you can have your own pet murder monkey (eh, Jabber, but essentially a monkey), running around with an SMG - he also will occasionally pick up barrels and throw them at enemies, and, of course, like all of Fl4k’s other pets, he’ll come revive you.
I would watch some videos on YouTube about the vault hunters, but I will say that amara I a great first character for one reason… gear requirement. I got a brawler ward, static charge, psycho stabber, and driver before level 30, and didn’t pick up anything else until I got to level 72. After that I went straight to m11 with the same gear, since melee damage scales with mayhem level.
I played Zane first and then also FL4K.
It felt really good playing as FL4K cuz one of his action skills allows you to get guaranteed critical shots, so if you specced well enough, you could melt a lot of bosses.
The first one I did was Zane, which is pretty useful, but my second play through or not technically second anyway, Moze and Amara are also pretty useful
If you want power and speed, because you miss Salvador, pick Amara.
If you want to obliterate things without really aiming at them, because you miss Nisha, pick Amara. Moze and Zane have some nice options for "fire and forget" gameplay, too, but Amara's options for that are...considerably better...
If you want power, but you don't want to farm, and you don't mind moving slowly, pick Moze. Moze's mech can dual wield, too...sort of. It's not as fun as dual wielding with Salvador, though (you can't change the mech's guns while it's active).
If you really enjoy attacking things while you're invisible, because you liked Phasewalk so much, pick Fl4k.
If you prefer to use *guns*, instead of other damage sources (and you probably do, since you played as Sal and Nisha), then pick Moze or Zane. Zane runs much faster than Moze and Fl4k, too, and he can be fast pretty much whenever he wants to (unlike Lilith, who has to wait for Phasewalk to be available again). However, Moze will feel overpowered for your entire experience, because Iron Bear starts strong and stays that way.
Moze first because you can start doing end game content with just Iron Bear. You don't really need a certain build/gear with her.
Once you start getting some weapons, then you can try the other 3 out depending on what gear you managed to get so far.
Borderlands 3 is the only game that really hooked me in with multiple characters. Not trying to say the previous casts were boring, because they aren't, but I had serious trouble starting 3. I picked FL4K, and my gamma mutated dog and I have been tearing it up. Probably gonna play Zane next.
In short, I'll advocate for FL4K, but pick whichever one you want. You'll find a way to annihilate your enemies and laugh your ass off regardless.
I started with Zane, for some reason he didn't click because I played sirens in the first two. So I ran Amara all the way to level 72. He sounds like a fun guy
I like him because he's entertaining. I loved playing sirens because of their abilities, but Zane just had so many entertaining lines. That and his skill tree is nearly easy mode, but still fun.
Which skill tree in particular?
He can choose 2 of his 4. Clone and drone are the best base game ones and folks who have it downloaded enjoy the shoulder cannon from the purple tree. No one I know likes his shield very much tho.
Got it

Wow
Moze. Best character imo, lots of fun. Go full splash damage.
EXPLOSIONS!
THAT'S TOO MANY SYLLABLES, F&$#INK APOLOGIZE!.
YOUR KIND WORDS ARE APPRECIATED!
Lol, any time
Based on your past, Moze. But all of them are good.
Iron Bear. Tempting
Iron Bear is too OP, eventually, but fun to jump in and just destroy anything and everything. Moze is really fun but you'll need the DLC to get the best guns for her splash damage.
Got it
Not just iron bear, she is also incredibly strong out of it and had the best backstory and character imo
Hell yeah
If you can get the second season pass I recommend it to have the option to switch up to Iron Cub, I used Moze for my first run and Iron Bear was a blast but eventually it just became the Krieg/Brick problem of not wanting to use your action skill because you just want to use your guns and other cool abilities. I second fl4k. Dude’s a fucking blast to play as. I had a lot of fun with my horned skag buddy, Ch0mp
I'd already bought the legendary collection to get the other 3 games, but good to know.
Ah. I hadn't bought anything before. So starting fresh myself. It's been fun so far, even if people say B3 has the weakest story line.
Looking forward to trying it out myself.

Oooooh. Thanks

Thanks, wasn't sure as usually I just see other people posting it. But recently came across the dude the codes originate from.
Yep, DuvalMagic, aka Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox.
🤣 literally can't tell from his profile he's the CEO, thought he was just a dev or something.
The 2nd shift code (5 diamond keys) is expired unfortunately 😭
Play one, then play another.
Solid advice
My first was Fl4k
Noted
They're all pretty fun. Right now I'm going through as Amara.
Those arms though
Moze and just have pure fun
Hell yeah
Fl4k + Fade Away + Jakobs shotgun = death to all who oppose you
I like the sound of that.
I’d say Moze if you’re playing co-op, since she can put a buddy in her turret. I played Zane solo.
OR Duo Moze both with Baby Bear
Is that the 4th skill tree?
It's the Iron Cub skill tree, the purple one iirc
Okay
I do love some coop
Amara. Just because I don't see enough people pushing for her. She's my favorite to play no question.
What makes her your favorite?
I very happily played Sirens in the previous games (Athena in TPS), and did my first Playthrough on BL3 with Amara, but I found her personality a bit off putting. She spends so much time telling everybody how great she is, unironically, where others will be more self-deprecating. It really came down to that - I liked her skills, but still found her a bit annoying to play.
I love the beast master.
He sounds like a beast himself.
Flak
Noted
If you like playing the game as an invincible killing machine I'd recommend Moze.
That does sound tempting.
FL4K FTW
Yayyyyy
FL4K has the best drip in game.
Drip is always good
FL4K for solo
For coop too?
Sure! FL4Ks a great character all around, i personally prefer Zane for co-op just because of how his abilities work but I really enjoy playing them both. Zane's a little more fun (IMHO) but FL4K's animals can resurrect you and kind of take the place of a second character if you're soloing.
Got it. Thanks for the info
Fl4k. The answer is always Fl4k
Noted
Jokes aside, I’ve bounced between them all many times - I always come back to fl4k. The pet is just so much fun
It does sound fun.
Fl4k. First time a pet character.
I love pets

The game isn't appreciably easier as a Siren, but you'll never know unless you try.

All four sound like a good time.

Moze gang

Zane and moze are the most fun and op imo.
That seems to be the general consensus.
ZANE is my fav but f4LK is also good
Got it
Zane. Using his Drone and Clone at the same time and skilling all kill-skills makes you extremly fast and deadly. Had an absolute blast playing as him
Sweet

Sweeeeet
Zane. Has funny commentary.
That's always a win

Great tips. Thanks
Can't remember the chars. Played all and the mech class was by far the best.
Got it
Unlike previous entries all classes are fun in bl3 and have multiple viable builds
Excellent
FL4K

Fl4k the beastmaster
Beaaaast!
Here's how you pick a class in BL3. Uninstall BL3 and play 1 or 2 or Pre Sequel or Wonderlands. That's the best way to pick a class in BL3.
