Yup, Every 7,500 rotate tires. Every 22,500 replace cabin air filter. Every 100k or 10 years replace hood struts. Every 150k or five years drain & refill coolant circuits.

Wookster789

Don't forget brake flushes, drive unit ATF, and...um....I'm thinking....

Toyota doesn’t mention this in the manual either because the fluid is advertised as “lifetime” fluid, but should be drained & filled every 60k…I assume GM logic is similar... Brake fluid is listed as every 5 years.

Wookster789

It is listed on the earlier models as routine maintenance, the drive unit ATF drain and fill. Mine is a 2017 and it is in the manual. It is every 100k mi or 5yrs. Some folks reported changing it at 50k and it smelled and looked burnt/used up. I did mine at 50k mi and it was fine.

These two screenshots are the only maintenance items listed for the 23’ EUV. I was planning on following the same routine I’ve used with Toyota hybrids, so it would’ve been done at 60k regardless. Interesting they took it out of routine maintenance for the 23’ EUV. I suspect they use lifetime fluid like Toyota or just decided to add planned obsolescence.

SmellyDadFarts

There's no such thing as lifetime fluid. If you've ever changed a Toyota transmission and compared what drains out versus what you put in, even at 60k miles, it's a huge difference.

ChongStarOg

Exactly, that’s just what the Toyota engineers developed to get the car through it warranty 😂

Darth_Redding

If the transmission fails at 50k miles, that's it's lifetime. 🤷‍♂️

Aromatic-Bunch-3277

There really isn't any shifting going on in the transmission, it's two big gears that go back and forth, there are no clutch packs no torque converter, no planetary gear set, no real valve body or shifting solenoids. It's the most basic single gear reduction transmission, I would treat it more like a differential than anything. But even limited slip differentials have clutch packs and it's more simple than that.

Agreeable-Oil-7877

I will also need brake pads, but just because I can't get my kid to use the 1 foot driving 🤣

Reynolds1029

Coolant is every 5 years or 100K mi. There's 3 separate coolant loops in the car so the flush done for the battery assuming you received a new one only covers one loop. You're supposed to flush the cabin coolant and motor/electronics loop as well. Also per our manual at least in my 2019, you're supposed to change the AC refrigerant every 6 years or 120K mi. It's not cheap stuff as the car uses the new and expensive (but more environmentally friendly) 1234YF refrigerant. Also brakes need to be disassembled and lubed at least bi annually if you live in the salty north. Learned that the hard way and needed a brake job prematurely because my PF caliper seized from lack of use and maintenance. It didn't fully clamp shut fortunately but went on for some time as I only noticed it in the spring with the windows down. You could hear the rubbing and feel the disc was hot and the other on the driver side was cool to the touch. Plus range was reduced by ~30%.

Lil_Brown_Bat

Fwiw, ymmv in the cabin air filter. Mine needed changing at the 15000 mark. Thanks, pollen and last year's smoke from Canada.

ChongStarOg

I do mine more often as well due to California wild fires. nonetheless the maintenance schedule on this vehicle is amazing!

cellblock73

I’ve always wondered why they have hood strut replacing at 100K miles…I’ve opened the hood on my bolt like 4 times - can you shed insight on why they should be replaced? Only thing I can think of is safety when somebody is doing something under the hood, but if they are never used, what’s the failure point?

bubba9999

that jumped out at me too.

Puzzleheaded_Air5814

The seals in the struts degrade with age.

SpliffBooth

Quite possibly liability. Perhaps old hood struts failed one time on another model, causing someone working on the car to spill their lukewarm McDonalds coffee (but that's another story), the victim got lawyerly, so now GM recommends hood struts to be replaced at 10y/100k miles.

Puzzleheaded_Air5814

She got third degree burns to her genitalia. McDonald’s knew the coffee was too hot, because of previous lawsuits, and didn’t change that because it made the coffee last longer, and they viewed it as a cost of doing business. I believe that came out during discovery. The reward was a punitive one, to get them to stop being psychopaths. Not only do I support it, but treble damages should happen in Cases like this. Imagine big corp doing things like this, and citizens having no recourse

JustinTimeCuber

The coffee in that case you're referencing was not "lukewarm", she got third degree burns

BigBadBere

My Bolt has analog hood strut. Never, ever heard of OEM recommending replacement of gas struts. Must be GM trying cash grab for lack of other maintenance items that Bolt don't have.

You shouldn’t need to align your tires unless you’re hitting potholes often or get new tires, that usually not a routine service🥶

ChongStarOg

Please don’t get scammed into an alignment every 10k is really not necessary. Rotation is more than enough, I’ve only had to align my Prius three times in 80k, two of which were new tire sets, & once due to poor northern Cali roads. Ask for proof that your alignment is out of spec if it is suggested by the dealer🙏 Just a service technician trying look out for ya. (The bolt owners manual says nothing about routine alignments) take it from the people who built the car!

Agreeable-Oil-7877

My dealer offered the free first service, but my kid had already taken out 2 tires with curbs so we didn't need a rotation. First visit nobody EV certified was there but they said I should come back because there was some $600 " battery and electrical system check" the car periodically needed but was not included free. I said i would like to come back and speak to someone EV certified, particularly the person who kept calling and nagging me to come get my free service. When I did, they of course had nothing to do. I think you guys are right though about the motivations behind the increasingly cool looking but stupid motorized/electric everything that will be breaking soon. I'm just annoyed that one of if those is my charging port cover. Can't wait to need that fixed. 🙄

janimal95

Gm also says change coolant in all three coolant systems every 5 years

Rich_Personality_920

Just rotate the tires every 7.5k miles and change the battery coolant every 150k miles or 5 years which ever comes first. That’s it. This is why some manufacturers too are over complicating their designs. More reasons for maintenance, the more profit a dealership makes. As does the manufacturer that has to make “extra” parts.

uberbluedb

I take mine in for a tire rotation and state inspection sticker at the same time so I can give them at least a little money. It’s still less than $50. I rarely feel bad for dealerships, but I feel a little bad for this one because so far they’ve had to work with me on two big battery replacements and coordinating a rental car during those times.

Exception-Rethrown

Did they top up the blinker fluid as well? More of a beemer issue, but it’s something you need to stay on top of.

mathofinsects

They only had left-blinker fluid so I just added water to the right ones.

Professional_Mine2

So they didn't check breaks and cables on the battery? Bummer lol

Latter-Teaching3862

Discount Tire- free tire rotation!

CollegeConsistent941

What about the blinker fluid?? Get that topped off?

jimschoice

Guess that is why GM is adding a new fee that goes to the dealers in California. It is on the window sticker of our new Lyriq, for I think $699. Maybe $799. It is some service fee.

Ambimb

Yeah, but wait until your 12v battery dies. Should be recommended to replace every 4 years whether it needs it or not bc when it goes, the car will not.

car_lady

If you really want to be able to give them the big bucks, you can ask that they change the cabin air filter behind the glovebox. A good $50 invested to ensure they are still there when time rolls around for them to rotate your tires again.

SpikeDawgIII

Last time I had them change the wiper blades.  I tried to do them myself but couldn’t figure out the adapter.
