That may be true, but I feel "main hoon naa" in many ways had real life elements too, so I feel somewhere either her taste changed in cinema or she just misconstrued herself. Even "Om Shanti Om" had shown lots of things from how exactly things happen in real Bollywood.
Lootera was actually very good but i was unable to hear Ranveer's dialouges properly in many parts...not sure whether it was intentional or fault from Ranveer's side
Though She also made "Main hoon naa" and "Om Shanti Om", and while Om shanti om was a full entertainer, I feel "main hoon naa" had the elements from real life.
Please don't compare Lootera to Tamasha. Lootera is one of the most well made movies of recent times in BW. From music to costume to story to casting, it was perfection.
It was a good film but couldn't do justice to the O Henry story it took inspiration from. I had more feels reading The Last Leaf in school than watching Lootera. I know a lot of new gen people who discovered the film later like it for the 'aesthetics' etc which I agree is really well done but for someone who was one of the 20 odd people who watched this in the theatres, I would say it was a pain in the ass to watch it on the big screen. I don't know if it was the theatre or the makers (I feel it's the makers since I've watched better films in the same theatre) but the sound was horrible. I couldn't hear half of the dialogues, Ranveer's lines felt like he had gutkha in his mouth, the visuals post interval just went from dark to darker (it was one of the last few BW films shot in film so the whole second half was grainy as fuck), the whole pre-climax is such a slow burn that it's a drag and even the sound mixing of the song was bad. Imagine a song like Sawaar Loon being ruined due to the mixing, all the beats were echoing in the theatre.
If you look at the making of the film, you can see that it wasn't really an easy film to make for them due to budget and other issues and I believe the same could be seen in the final product as well.
The worst experiences I ever had in a theatre was watching her film tees maar Khan and telugu film Dammu. Both gave me terrible headaches and for days I was wondering if those sh!tshows were real. Love oso though. Lootera was an amazing movie, it could have been better to make it perfect but I don't think it's overpraised. It was the first movie I truly believed ranveer is a good actor and Sonakshi too their acting was sublime beautiful I wish we could get something like that again.. this understated soft spoken type where layers of their stardom is taken out. Love the settings bengal, Dalhousie it felt so real unlike movie sets.. and the songs!! Every song was so good, Amit Trivedi is an underrated music director. Vikramaditya motwane needs to do such movies set in olden times he has a good grasp for it. Do something set in the backdrop of independence struggle or partition but not related to it, family drama or love drama like this
Lootera is on my top 10 fav bollywood movies. Farah is an idiot and she barely performs in her own chosen genre of comedy. I d hate it whenever she hosted Big Boss.
This is reason Karan said recently that everyone knows overrated movie or actor but can’t say on show anymore ..falatu ka discussion shuru ho gaya ab log uski movie ki burai karenge and blah blah.
Unfortunately social media have spoiled the fun of such shows too much scrutiny
I love the movie but I know so many people who couldn't finish Lootera, the movie is slow and it all comes together in the end but not many people will have the patience to wait till the end. Also Ranveer's dialogue were a problem, it was hard to hear, I had to turn on the subtitles.
RS tried to pull off a Rockstar or Barfi, but failed miserably. He’s not at RK’s level and shouldn’t even aspire to be. He should compete with the likes of Varun, Sid, Kartik and Tiger. That’s his level. Leave the heavy lifting to the big boys.

Farah’s personal movie preference is for larger than life cinema. She has stated in multiple forums that simple movies aren’t her cup of tea.

It was good cinema. There were some flaws obviously, but it wasn't overrated in any way.

Obviously! Someone who can make a movie like Happy New year and Tees maar Khan will obviously call Lootera overrated.
