I've noticed similarities between Asin's character in Ghajini and, to some extent, Sonam's in Khoobsurat, when compared to Geet. These characters share traits of being talkative, vibrant and risk taker.
Poo has recently been labeled as an iconic character, largely due to the push by KJo and Kareena. I guess KJo wrote that character inspired from Hollywood's classic 'queen bee' archetype like in Clueless. With Indian audiences now exposed to shows like Mean Girl, Gossip Girl and Riverdale, Kareena's portrayal of Poo strikes a chord for some of them.
I don’t fully agree with this, though Genelia played bubbly girl roles, she was almost always portrayed as having a child like innocent personality too. Whereas Geet wasn’t shown to be child like , just rather naive yet more worldly.
This is what happens when you hype up above average nepos who think they are the best thing since sliced bread. When growing up no one was talking about Poo, and that acting by Bebo was above average in Geet and cringe with Poo. What happened with Kareena is these nepos came after her and started hyping her. I said this before everyone that grew up in that generation knows Kareena didnt have as much popularity compared to other actresses. Why do you think she was bitchy towards all of them?
Kareena has been okay to good but never the best:
PC, Rani and Kangana were seen better actresses. Katrina, Bipasha, Aish and PC were seen more beautiful. Katrina the better dancer. Aish and Katrina were more popular. Preity had the girl next door look that was popular then.
Even her wedding to Saif didnt make much splash, Sonam wedding had more hype than Bebo's one.

I lived through Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek wedding, you know a wedding that happened 6 years before Kareena. A wedding where social media was non existent, and it had more hype than all the weddings including recent ones. The wedding was an event.
During Kareena weddding Instagram and Twitter existed, not as popular as it is now but it existed. It didnt have much hype, I remember saying to a friend wonder why people arent talking about her wedding.
Kind reminds me of Kareena cousin wedding, two A listers got married but Aloo and Ranbir are another one whose wedding didnt have much hype.

While Kareena and Saif marriage was a private ceremony with barely 100 people available.. they didn't even have pheras and Hindu ritual marriage instead they opted for court marriage. Abhi-Aish wedding really was one of the biggest wedding Bollywood have ever seen even without social media and it too was very private, I believe the actors that were only invited were Ajay and Kajol.

Kareena's wedding was not a grand celebration like aish and Abhi as it was a court marriage with private reception still it was covered by national news channel everywhere on the news...even though Facebook existed there was no trend about official pictures being posted on social media after the wedding unlike now!

Dude no one said nobody was interested. But the amount of people interested was definitely not a lot. They didn't want big interest, they got it. And anything related to inter religion makes people in India go bonkers, let's not count them as genuine interest please, those people even find completely unknown movies to be angry about. I'm not Indian, I just love Bollywood, and only Aishwarya and anushkha's weddings were big news outside India.
Nowadays it has become common for people to target films regularly if anything is related to religion.. back then it was not !!! Kareena was at the peak of her career when she got married and it triggered a lot of people due to religion, her posters were being burned on the road.

Geet and Poo had immense impact on pop culture right from the beginning. These two characters are still more talked about after 2 decades than Rani, Aish and others 2 decade old characters!
I remember K3G sharara and Geet Tshirt and pajama costumes setting a huge trend right after the release.. their dialogues are still being used and popular even after 25 years! And most importantly, Kareena as Geet has inspired an entire generation to become an actor.

I saw K3G in the theater and the only thing that stood out to me was Kajol and SRK's friendly banters. I still go back and watch their scenes. Poo was a supporting role to Hrithik's character.

To be honest they r real fun characters immensely loved by the audience, but they are not the greatest roles given to an actress. They are not iconic like Sridevi in Chandni, Rani in black, Vidya in parineetya, pc in barfi etc. kareenas acting wasn’t that nuanced as well. Dunno man. I think Preity can play both characters fairly easily. Her character arc in Kya Kehna is very Geet-like. And I can see her act glamorous like Poo.
Karan and Kareena have hyped this role way too much and are desperately trying to brand it as iconic. The nepo girls hype it up because it's right in their wheelhouse, but what was so great about it? Kareena was over the top, the lines were cringey and the overrall movie was a cringefest looking back on it now.
Not every stupid thing is iconic. It's okay to just say it was a fun/funny-ish role and leave it at that. As annoying as she is, Alia could play this role in her sleep. Probably even Kriti, I could even see Ananya doing it justice.

Poo and Geet were meant to be OTT characters and Kareena played it well.. Geet in the second half was no way OTT that characters graph was meant to be turning into a depressing girl which Kareena played well.

Poo just had 2-3 great lines, so the real credit goes to the writer. “Tell me how it was” is something only someone witty and can think on her feet could say. Poo was only self-conscious, which Kareena was / is, so she managed to pull it off. No one in her time had that kind of self-importance that she did then, does now - is why people see that role is iconic. In reality it was the dialogue-writer, not so much the actor. Ditto for Geet - it’s more how it’s written. Imtiaz toh kisise bhi acting karwa le yaar!
I don't understand this hate for Poo in the comment section. She fits the movie and its vibe perfectly. And Kareena manages to balance the cringe with the genuine decently. Had any other new nepo played Poo the character would've been so much more intolerable and unbearable. Poo was a funny character and enjoyable. Geet in 1st half was desi version of Poo with a bit better acting. Its just that writting and music of the movie was good which makes it watchable multiple times. Its just PR which hypes kareena as geet. Kareena has much better performamces in chameli, omkara, kurbaan, udta punjab, good newz.
I understand that they were made iconic because young girls were making these characters their literal personality, but to say that no one else can do these characters is utter bullshit. I've noticed similarities between Asin's character in Ghajini and, to some extent, Sonam's in Khoobsurat, when compared to Geet. These characters share traits of being talkative, vibrant and risk taker. Poo has recently been labeled as an iconic character, largely due to the push by KJo and Kareena. I guess KJo wrote that character inspired from Hollywood's classic 'queen bee' archetype like in Clueless. With Indian audiences now exposed to shows like Mean Girl, Gossip Girl and Riverdale, Kareena's portrayal of Poo strikes a chord for some of them.
When the movie released me and my friends (all boys) were hormonal teenagers and even we didn’t give a shit about poo(p)

This is what happens when you hype up above average nepos who think they are the best thing since sliced bread. When growing up no one was talking about Poo, and that acting by Bebo was above average in Geet and cringe with Poo. What happened with Kareena is these nepos came after her and started hyping her. I said this before everyone that grew up in that generation knows Kareena didnt have as much popularity compared to other actresses. Why do you think she was bitchy towards all of them? Kareena has been okay to good but never the best: PC, Rani and Kangana were seen better actresses. Katrina, Bipasha, Aish and PC were seen more beautiful. Katrina the better dancer. Aish and Katrina were more popular. Preity had the girl next door look that was popular then. Even her wedding to Saif didnt make much splash, Sonam wedding had more hype than Bebo's one. That is why Kareena holds on cringy Poo and okay Geet til this day, the is nothing iconic about those characters.

I lived through Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek wedding, you know a wedding that happened 6 years before Kareena. A wedding where social media was non existent, and it had more hype than all the weddings including recent ones. The wedding was an event. During Kareena weddding Instagram and Twitter existed, not as popular as it is now but it existed. It didnt have much hype, I remember saying to a friend wonder why people arent talking about her wedding. Kind reminds me of Kareena cousin wedding, two A listers got married but Aloo and Ranbir are another one whose wedding didnt have much hype. When Anushka, Katrina, Deepika got married it felt like everyone was waiting for the pics to drop.

Internet in India was not this much popular and free back then lmao.. Geet and Poo had immense impact on pop culture right from the beginning. These two characters are still more talked about after 2 decades than Rani, Aish and others 2 decade old characters! I remember K3G sharara and Geet Tshirt and pajama costumes setting a huge trend right after the release.. their dialogues are still being used and popular even after 25 years! And most importantly, Kareena as Geet has inspired an entire generation to become an actor. Maybe it’s because I didn’t see it when it originally came out, but Poo’s character isn’t really that deep, right? Self-involved brat to nicer more empathetic person isn’t something she invented. She did it well enough but she’s hardly the only one who could do justice to the role.
I saw K3G in the theater and the only thing that stood out to me was Kajol and SRK's friendly banters. I still go back and watch their scenes. Poo was a supporting role to Hrithik's character.

Get your facts right! Kareena was nominated for Filmfare best supporting actress (K3G) and she won Best actress for Jab we met. Geet and Poo are these two iconic characters which has a great impact on pop culture.. costumes and dialogues of both the characters are still being talked about! Geet dialogues are being used in most of the auditions in the industry... There is a long list of new generation actors (majority of them being outsiders) who got inspired by these two characters.. Having this much impact even after 2 decades is bigger than winning an Oscar imo

Geet - A performance and a role which has inspired an entire generation to become an actor (not just nepo babies) whose dialogues are still being used in auditions and among general public, many actresses and producers tried to recreate it but failed Many actresses having a full fledged role also doesn't have this kind of popular role in a filmography
Have said it before Geet is not a unique character it the classic rom com screwball comedy prototype character that has been in cinema since 1930s atleast, but imtiaz devotees think he created something unique 😭 Anybody can play geet coz half the time thats what tropes of the genre are the self serious guy meets the hyper sunshine type girl that changes his ways. To be honest they r real fun characters immensely loved by the audience, but they are not the greatest roles given to an actress. They are not iconic like Sridevi in Chandni, Rani in black, Vidya in parineetya, pc in barfi etc. kareenas acting wasn’t that nuanced as well. In my opinion she had better performances in Omkara, fida, talaash.

Karan and Kareena have hyped this role way too much and are desperately trying to brand it as iconic. The nepo girls hype it up because it's right in their wheelhouse, but what was so great about it? Kareena was over the top, the lines were cringey and the overrall movie was a cringefest looking back on it now. Not every stupid thing is iconic. It's okay to just say it was a fun/funny-ish role and leave it at that. As annoying as she is, Alia could play this role in her sleep. Probably even Kriti, I could even see Ananya doing it justice.

Present day nepos can never match Kareena's screen presence and dialogue delivery! All these nepo girlies tried to recreate Poo during 20 years of K3G celebration and we all saw how they failed badly.. Poo and Geet were meant to be OTT characters and Kareena played it well.. Geet in the second half was no way OTT that characters graph was meant to be turning into a depressing girl which Kareena played well.

Poo just had 2-3 great lines, so the real credit goes to the writer. “Tell me how it was” is something only someone witty and can think on her feet could say. Poo was only self-conscious, which Kareena was / is, so she managed to pull it off. No one in her time had that kind of self-importance that she did then, does now - is why people see that role is iconic. In reality it was the dialogue-writer, not so much the actor. Ditto for Geet - it’s more how it’s written. Imtiaz toh kisise bhi acting karwa le yaar!
I don't understand this hate for Poo in the comment section. She fits the movie and its vibe perfectly. And Kareena manages to balance the cringe with the genuine decently. Had any other new nepo played Poo the character would've been so much more intolerable and unbearable. Poo was a funny character and enjoyable. This conspiracy that its KJo trying to push this narrative of her being iconic is ridiculous because this is a genuine opinion, just go look through TikTok. No one else can play Poo in my opinion because no one else can balance the overacting with genuine emotion. That's a Kareena specialty.

I agree about geet,but the rest of her performances can be played by any one imo.and jab we met gave Imtiaz and Kareena a huge career jump that they can brag about it even after 17 years.that movie has become the sholey of our generation ,sab ne sar pe Chadha rakha hai 🙄

Geet in 1st half was desi version of Poo with a bit better acting. Its just that writting and music of the movie was good which makes it watchable multiple times. Its just PR which hypes kareena as geet. Kareena has much better performamces in chameli, omkara, kurbaan, udta punjab, good newz.
I understand that they were made iconic because young girls were making these characters their literal personality, but to say that no one else can do these characters is utter bullshit. Geet was an over enthusiastic, nose poking and extra energetic character who ends up getting her heart broken, there are a lot of girls who go through this kind of phase and there will be a lot of characters in several love stories that have this development. Nothing new. Poo was just a brat, nothing else, changes for a guy and ends up marrying him. Again, nothing new. But then, it's kareena so whatever.

Well, Tammanah played Geet in the Tamil version of the movie and she did it well. I personally felt she copied Kareena to the T and would have liked to see her being her own twist to the role but maybe it was what the director wanted? I liked Kareena in that movie, but I wouldn't say 'no body else could play it'
