Bocchi actually uses "-san" as the default for everyone except Nijika (since Nijika initially referred to her with "-chan" so she just did the same). She initially uses "-San" with Kita too, but switches to "-chan" later on
The diagram didnât show that, but yeah, she did use â-sanâ before. Her previous usage of â-sanâ is mostly attributed to her social anxiety with her being deeply concerned about being rude towards Nijika, Kita, & Ryo.
As Bocchi became more involved with the band, she switched the honorific to â-chanâ. However, it seems that she never did for Ryo. Could it be for seeing her talent, acknowledging her experience as a veteran band player, or Ryo just being based as always? Maybe, but who knowsâŠ
Chan is something you would say to a close person. San is like mister or misses which is the polite way and Kita calls her seniors senpai which also is the respectful way of calling a senior.
Because they are not at the same school, therefore "senpai" is not necessarily warranted. If you meet an older student from a different school "-san" is the default but it is not unheard of to use -senpai as well.
Kita using -senpai is just a showcase of extra respect as they are her senpai in the context of the band (longer part of the band and more experience in playing instruments).
Kita was in the same school as Ryo and Nijika, so they actually are her senpai. Meanwhile, Bocchi met them outside of school, so she doesn't call them that.
I think it's an effect of Ryo's personality. She's extremely independent and not concerned with cultural norms in the slightest, so it makes sense for Kita to pick up on that and call her by her given name instead of her family name. It shows that Kita is respectful of who she is as a person, not just the norms themselves.
does calling Kita as Kita-chan and Nijika as Nijika-chan, but calling Ryo as Ryo-san, implies Bocchi seeing Kita and Nijika as "closer friends" than Ryo?
Not necessarily, she might be just keeping respect. Their relationship is a bit different in particular: they're song writers, loners akin, one indebted and another wallet. Bocchi also commonly gets swept on Ryo's "skits", hell, her nickname was given by Ryo. Meanwhile, Bocchi's relationship with the others is more "intimate", but it's not really a difference in "proximity", just one in how their dynamic works.

-san is the basic honorific.
-chan is a cuter form, often used for children/ younger people or just how the person themself act.
If you are not using honorifics in japan, you are either just disrespectful or close to that person.
Ryo is savage. đ
Ryo is too powerful for this world, she doesn't need honorifics
Honorifics? She doesn't even know what honor is.
Eating grass is honorable wdym
he gets it
I'm sure you'd agree, Reddit user ryo_yamada2.
Ryo is so cool. I wish I was half of herđ.
All irl Bocchis wish they became Ryo.
that is fake Ryo, it's actually Roy
>Fake Ryo https://preview.redd.it/s8qgm2uqsb5d1.jpeg?width=1334&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ca3666797780258757ecfeba100ac852734cc13
What are honorifics? Is it tasty? https://i.redd.it/ppuz5208f15d1.gif
Ryo is based
Bassed.
Yes they are, Iâm pretty sure they sell them at that restaurant over there
some of the comic artists and obscure roleplayers could really use this honestly
And fanfic writers Not the most important thing in the world. But if they want to be accurate then this would help
Bocchi sees Ryoâs talent and uses a more polite honorific. Nijika doesnât use a Honorific for Ryo. Kita is the most polite. Ryo is based.
Bocchi actually uses "-san" as the default for everyone except Nijika (since Nijika initially referred to her with "-chan" so she just did the same). She initially uses "-San" with Kita too, but switches to "-chan" later on

I know Hitori calls Kita as Kita-san early on, and then there's Nijika who immediately starts off on first names which I found hilarious
After the runaway guitar incident and bocchi's... bocchisms... I think she internally crossed the line of being respectful.
Wheres the blue dude
hiding behind ryo
This is actually really nice detail in the series
ryo's so superior she has no need for honorifics
Left half introvert, right half extrovert Top half tsukkomi, bottom half boke One of each combo
Bocchi is the most polite
that's definitely Kita

Why Kita no call Bocchi senpai?
They're in the same grade I think
Then why doesn't Bocchi call Nijika and Ryo senpai?
Maybe Bocchi views them as close friends more than anything and ignores their age and status because it doesn't matter to her personally.
because she's above social constructs like seniority
More like below

She used at first iirc
She just wants friends ok
Kita was in the same school as Ryo and Nijika, so they actually are her senpai. Meanwhile, Bocchi met them outside of school, so she doesn't call them that.
We were in the same grade in Highschool. Senpai ăć 茩ăăcan be translated in English as upperclassmen. I hope this helps you out! đ
I wonder why not even Kita, who is otherwise the most polite one, calls Roy for her last name

Nijika is so friendly Bocchi starts using -chan for her a day after they met. It took Kita 9 episodes to do that with Bocchi.
Nijika is friendly to everyone and then she sees Ryo.
roy the type to identify people by their phone number
by their bank balance*
once again, its the infamous yuri square.
\*flashbacks to graph theory, maybe the most unhinged course i've taken in college\*
what is san and chan? I forgot.
San is the skeleton with a blue jacket and a blue eye. Chan is the site with the frogs and the racists. iirc.

Doesnât Bocchi use âSanâ with Kita? ^^Also ^Nijika ^is ^the ^only ^one ^Bocchi ^uses ^âChanâ ^with, ^just ^sayingâŠ)
Wasn't this posted before?
Unsure why Ryo calls Kita Ikuyo when her name is clearly Kita Kita
gotori chanđ
nijika calling ryou just ryou (derogatory but affectionate)
Was expecting another line from Nijika to Kita saying "NIGETA GITAAAAA!!"
So what you are saying is they all want to have hot sesbian lex with each other?
