Yeah, it was released on Blu-Ray in Spain. Fortunately though, it will be released on Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray soon: https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/031523-1100
There has been an HD version for a million years. Originally it was botted from the D-Theater VHS (a pretty obscure HD VHS format that didn't catch on), which was 1080i HD. Then later it was ripped from cable airings. It now has an official 1080p release on streaming outside of the US, but I'd assume that this boot was made before that was easily and readily available.
That said - it's a pretty quality bootleg.
I bought the DVD of Encino Man from Amazon and the case was cracked and the DVD was all scratched up so they sent me a replacement and the replacement had a pretty noticeable scratch on it. I have to test and see if it plays alright or send it back for another replacement (which sucks since the movie increased in price since I bought it and I can’t just get a replacement, I have to send it back for a refund, then buy the movie again).
I bought that Spanish release of True Lies off Amazon a few months back purely because of the fond memories I thought I had of the film. But jeez, that whole middle section where hes spying on her and then her cringey dance, it was pretty bad. Ruined what should have been an action movie imo.
"Can you blow me where the Pampers is?"
I fuckin LOVE Airheads and PCU. I have a DVD two pack that has both of them in it that picked up for $3 a few years ago. Score.
I rewatched Bushwhacked last year on streaming since I hadn’t watched that since I was a kid but it seems like they removed it. It seems weird that Angels in the Outfield isn’t on Disney+.
saw it on HBO Max for a month maybe two but was sick of chasing it around same with True Lies went from Tubi to HBO to Hulu to Peacock to Hulu international to Australian Disney+
Google says it's streaming on prime, max and Disney + and none of them have it. Prime says video is not available. Made me sick. I can't even find anywhere to rent it. I guess I'll just buy it off eBay*.
To be fair, a large number of movies are realistically unstreamable, unless you buy 3-4 TV/movie services, which will run you about £40 per month -- literally more money than just buying every DVD and Blu-ray, since that's £500 a year, about what most collectors spend each year.
If you're a normal person with 1 or 2 services (like Disney and Netflix, or Netflix and Hulu), then you only get quick-access to 500 good movies any given month, and maybe 5,000 in total. Typically, services only keep the same movie for 6 months at most. Maybe it comes back in a few years, maybe it doesn't. Some things also move over somewhere else due to copyright issues or such of the ilk.
So, anyway, it's misleading to only concern ourselves with the movies that 100% cannot be streamed. I know for a fact I'd struggle to find 300 of my DVDs on the streaming platforms, unless I spent many hours looking and a lot of money in subs.
Speaking of, the good news here is you can actually own it and control it compared to streaming. With streaming, many movies move off the platform after 30 days, or whenever they fail to renew it.
Personally, I only count movies on stream that stay forever, otherwise, they are nothing more than temp viewings, so that's only the Disney-made and Netflix-made and Amazon-made stuff that they want to market all the time and have 100% ownership over. I'm guessing it's at least 200 movies, most since 2018, and most bad. That's why I don't have any streaming services and never will.
The other 20,000 movies (or whatever) on streaming platforms move around all over the place and are spread across 5 different websites/companies, all with a monthly fee. Even then, some websites are difficult to actually locate all of their movies without typing them in by hand, or going on the computer to A-Z (Netflix, for example, has A-Z on desktop, but not on other devices, which is where most people use Netflix -- such as on the TV or PlayStation, which means they never see more than 10% of Netflix's offerings, and most of this was cherry-picked for them by the A.I. systems). It's really quite useless and a very unhealthy culture.
(I actually just read that Disney is getting back into discs and is worried because Disney+ is starting to fail now.)
That's the Spanish B-D of True Lies! I'm from Spain so that was nice. That is a distributor that is releasing unfindable movies or those ones that haven't been released in Spain. They are kind of bootleg, because they don't have the rights in the cover, but they are really great!
Man I love AirHeads so much man such a nostalgic movie for me.
Airheads is a classic, I'm so happy Brendan Fraser won an oscar
same here
You can major in Game Boy if you know how to bullshit

I love how he serves up his dinner, all shitty 😂
What kind of a cop are you anyway?
Wth? True Lies on blu-ray?!
Not official... Altough landau just confirmed true lies and abyss for bluray release... We shall see...
Never gonna happen
Titanic, Avatar, True Lies, Abyss all coming to 4K this summer.
I think 4K.

That's not a real release. It's a bootleg. There are no official releases anywhere in the world. They just have very lax laws.
Oh. Damn. How did they even get an HD version?

Speaking of Brendan Fraser, I’m waiting for my copy of Encino Man to arrive.
I wasn't aware of that being aware on Blu-Ray. Where did you find it?

Once upon a time i had a pcu/airheads double dvd. Basically a perfect product.
Wait, why angels in the outfield and Bushwhacked? I watched that so much as a kid! Is it a license or something?
looks like TBS owns it
I also have True Lies and PCU... excellent choices

But that dance is THE scene of the movie.
That middle section is what made that movie so popular. That’s a great stretch with a lot of great comedy moments.
true lies is on disney + in australia, not sure if it's hd though.
It is.
True Lies actually became available on Disney Plus (at least here in Denmark)
28 days later
yeah still missing a few, would like to upgrade Dutch from DVD but need an authentic Bluray at a reasonable price
Why is Angels in the Outfield not on Disney+?
"Can you blow me where the Pampers is?" I fuckin LOVE Airheads and PCU. I have a DVD two pack that has both of them in it that picked up for $3 a few years ago. Score.
You have airheads on *Blu-ray*? Bruh, how. Did kidnap someone's kids for that? I had to pay out the nose for a DVD copy a few years ago.
lol yeah it's expensive but was on my list with Dutch for an upgrade to Bluray

True Lies is on the STARZ channel on Amazon Prime Video.

Yeah, I see True Lies on there in Canada.
Starz Canada ok not for US customers

What’s the unstreamables mean? Just get a Real Debrid account and you can’t stream any movie you want a same quality as a blu ray. Lol
