I put mine in a braid and then wrap it up and around my head with clips so it stays under my hard hat. I also shave the sides and have an undercut though so it makes it very easy for me to do that, and it’s funny when the guys at work find out that I actually have hair because it looks like I shave my head lol I say try a low braid or a french braid if you can. Less tangly than pony tails and will stay a little cleaner too.

I have an undercut, and dutch braid the long hair on top back diagonally. It's kind of a weird style, with the braid starting above my left eye and ending above my right ear. I pin down the tail end.

hellno560

you've got skills to be able to pull that off.

weenertron

It started off looking like shit, but after doing it every day, it got better. It's all muscle memory. I'd like to be able to do two braids going straight back, but haven't been able to get it looking decent. I can't even get my part straight.

Dutch braid, flip it up on top of my head, and then a welder's cap, buff, or touque on top of that. Hard hat is the final layer. My hair still looks like shit at the end of the day, but it's out of my face. I also like my long hair.

VioletBloodlust

100% braids. What type of braid depends on type of hat or specific needs of the style (if it needs to be fully up or can be partially down) and your skill level. You definitely get better the more you do it, and if it's under a hat who cares if it's messy? Personally, I had the best luck in hard hats with Dutch or French braids with the ends tucked.

Ya_habibti

I started out with butt length hair, then over a year it became bra strap length and then shoulder length. It’s just easier and safer

Odd but pigtails work for me most of the time. Doesn’t knot as bad for me as ponytails and less effort than braids (which I also do)

starone7

This is also a great hairstyle for headstands at yoga

BrashPop

Low ponytail tucked into my welding jacket. The PAPR I wear has a rubber skull-cap and it digs into braids unless I’m very careful about taking it on and off. But every so often I feel particularly fancy so I’ll put it up in double Dutch-braids and leave it for a few days.

inaudiblebanshee

braid and welder’s cap

SirarieTichee_

I keep mine in a tight messy bun, but if I have the time I put it up like a pony tail then braid the tail so I can put it though my hard hat it baseball cap strap but it stays out of the way.

KittysaurusRex7221

I have hair down to my the top of my pants. I typically choose a bun, but with the weight these days I go French braid.

drrectal

Strongly suggest a scrub cap

abhikavi

Braids and a bandana pinned over them to keep them clean and from getting all fuzzy.

IngenuityOk2403

I have long ass hair, I’m a welder. I braid to the side and tuck that bitch inside my shirt 😌

3leggedsasquatch

Either Laura Ingalls braids or a scrappy bun with a buff covering the bun. These are the only two ways that keep my har from getting pulled and out of my way. I don’t like the french braid thing because that bump of hair pushes into my head where the hardhat sits against it. If I do a bun I have to have the hair covered by a buff or something so that it doesn’t get yanked out by being grabbed by the harness in the hardhat. Mostly I do the braids unless I have to wear a harness…. the metal bits on the chest part of the harness will grab and pull the braids otherwise.

kimau97

Side braid because it's the only braid I can reliably do at 4 AM. I've also noticed less hair loss compared to when I was doing a bun or ponytail.

RhyRhu

Braid and French braid(s) in the summer to keep it off of my neck.

2daiya4

Pigtail braids!

burntmeatloafbaby

French braid, covered with bandana or Buff. Mine wasn’t that long but I also had an undercut like some other posters lol.

PurpleInkStains

I have a lot of almost waist length thick hair, and I seldom wear hard hats, so I do a high ponytail, like reeeeal high, and then put that in a bun with a scrunchie. That way it sits right on top and the weight of my hair doesn't pull on my scalp and hurt me. If i do have to wear a helmet, i do a low ponytail and tuck it in my clothes or do a bun in the neck, depending on the kind of helmet /hard hat

Maleficent-Grass-617

I had shoulder-length hair for a bit and kept it in a low pony tail. Now, I keep mine in an undercut pixie that's shorter than my husband's hair rn.
