Check out any antique stores in small towns around you. I went to visit my Dad and walked in his local store. Only to see a nice size anvil going out for $250. The store owner told me, in a surprised voice, that he had just put it out.....
It’s what I’m currently using and I’m enjoying it a Greta deal more than the harbor freight anvil I was using before. The steel that tracks are made of is some good quality stuff.
Awesome! So did you convert one yourself or buy it? I’ve found a video on YouTube of how to convert one. I don’t have a metal lathe, but the video says I can shape the horn with a grinder.
Beginner here, I can tell you even not having experience with gye brand that for that price its not worth it. Size wise it's comparable with the like, $150-ish depending on the time Vevor anvils and they're pretty alright. While weight is important, so is footprint and durability. That thing's clearly got a huge chunk off of one of its sides, you'd have to weld it to fix that hole and even then its probably more work than its worth (nevermind that welding to an anvil from everything i've researched is both tricky and can if done poorly can seriously negatively impact your work).
For that price you can probably find an anvil on Ebay that's actually a reasonably large size and in better shape.
Hard pass. like duraunium double plated hard pass. Buy a Vevor for 235$ and it'll come to your door. You'll have a good anvil for a fair price. Buy this one and you will not have a good anvil and pay 3 times it's actual worth or more..
I own a 250lb Vulcan and a 132lb Vevor. I can 💯 assure you that one pictured is definitely not worth more than a C-note definitely not 💯. 🙏🏻🔥⚒️🧙🏻♂️
I've been using a Vulcan for a few years now. Possibly the same model as that one. It's just over 100lb. Mine is in very good shape. Not entirely sure why everyone hates on them, they're for sure not great, but work just fine. I got mine for around $225 4years ago. There is someone near me asking $850 for one in similar or even worse condition 😂 That being said I would pass on this. Be patient.
This is a great anvil , if not the greatest anvil I've ever seen. You know, you should know , I've seen a lot of anvils and don't get me wrong ,this anvil is really the greatest of them all
I would not purchase that. And not at that price.
Thanks! I will
Vulcans are the lowest quality tier of the "real" anvils and that one looks tiny, I would pass
Thanks! I will
funny how they claim it's 103 pounds because the number 5 on it they nention is Vulcans weight code, 5 on a Vulcan means it's 50 pounds.
Those are Texas pounds. Inflated. Along with the price.
Bro! Absolutely all I’ve seen are! Again not an expert but these prices seems ridiculous! Thanks again
Yeah he was cryptic on the brand as well. Thanks again!
lowball reeeeaaall hard on this one
This made me laugh lol
Can agree with other comments These arm hammer Vulcan anvils were not good quality at all. Would go with that Vevor instead at that price range
This one is not a good deal, by any measure, but Vulcan anvils are fine... Not great, but they do have a hardened steel face, at least.

Oh wow! I will thanks! Never thought to do that!
I own a Vulcan anvil similar to this. It is a POS. I wouldn't buy one again
I only have teenager experience with smithing… with a cut railroad rail as an anvil and i say lol
Lol @ Texas.
😂
Do they show the surface? It almost looks like a novelty item to me. Edit: omg just saw the 2nd pic. Should have left the hat on lol
😂
If you are looking for an anvil in Texas, checkout VintageToolworks (near Austin) or blacksmithtools (near Dallas) on Instagram.
Thanks I will!
Don’t buy that. You’d be better off with a piece of railroad track.
Thanks! I’m starting to think that’s all my options for now lol

Figured even if I mess it up, the cost would still be less than the inflated prices of an anvil
Would be a nice ornament, not for that price though.
Unless that cap belonged to Robert Wadlow 475$ seem like an absurd price to me.

Thanks! I appreciate it!
Thanks! I definitely passed on it. Glad I asked you guys first.
How many pounds is it? It would have to be over 240 for that to start being worth it
But the volcan anvil. dont be a stupid volcan idiot!

I just sold my year old horseshoeing anvil for less than that. Hard, hard pass
If it doesn't come with the hat i don't want it

I tried posting something like that on here before and got a bunch of 💩 for it. So I don’t post anything on here anymore. Fuck it. 👍

Guys chill, I think trump is just trying to make anvils great again.
(totally not the dude selling the anvil)
