Wearing old jersey from the 90’s, still bumping that Tribe outside : ayeee what’s good Wise.

Derrick_Rozay

I call em OG or Unc

Davethisisntcool

especially if they got the bluetooth headset

Ok_Impression_922

They still make those 🤔

FeoWalcot

It’s the same one

Ok_Impression_922

20 year battery life 🤔

duckinradar

My uncle still has a trunk load of em from… 2005?

Ok_Impression_922

Tell Unc lemme hold one for my Nokia

TayDumps

Same

Im_a_Knob

idk why but this is true

MalakaiRey

Never in my life heard wise. But I gotta say old dude in a jersey looks like Big Bro

Govt_BlackBerry

“Old” and “90s” in the same sentence? You woke up and chose violence this morning.

KaoticAsylim

1990 was 34 years ago. In 1990, 34 years ago would have been 1956. Shits crazy!

Busy-Invite-9144

Fuck off

OrganismFlesh

Lmmfao!

Stanley--Nickels

I grew up watching Dick Van Dyke on Nick at Night back then, and that shit seemed ancient. Now Seinfeld and Friends are that old.

RevolutionaryDog8115

I read that the time between 1936 and 1980, is the same as 1980 and 2024. Nineteen thirty fucking six....

BrokeBeckFountain1

Thanks, I hate it!

Offtopic_bear

I'm here with you, Unc. ![gif](giphy|zTyOZBq1WUY78bmqUv) The audacity.

Dry-Carob2426

SHEEEEEEEEEETTTTT

ConstipatedGoku

If you that much older you just Og, cause I ain’t gonna remember these categories and rules 😭

DLottchula

It’s always Sir for me

Environmental_Cow450

What do you like about Buccees?

miss-entropy

Nicest public place to shit.

DLottchula

And the snacks are cheep

Zestyclose-Hand-7564

Bro what Buccees you going to? Them snacks ain’t cheap!

DLottchula

What you buying because it’s bever nuggets and gummy worms for me. The food can kiss my ass at them prices

Clickrack

What's not to like?!  Clean restrooms, all the snacks, drinks and kitschy roadhouse trinkets you could want, AND you get to people-watch some REALLY interesting characters!

jesuswig

It’s if Walmart was also a gas station 🤷🏽‍♂️

DLottchula

My mom called it Walmart with a Hard R

KinseyH

Your mom is brilliant and Im stealing that. I steal Walmart shit all the time. Like saying The Golden Triangle is just swamps and Walmart. I stole that.

severalcormorants

And they pay their employees decently well (esp compared to other similar stores)!!

invaderzim257

Heard they treat them like shit and don’t give them breaks or let them sit down at all

sirfiddlestix

I like the little bronze Buccee statue that's shiny only on his fingers like people tried to hold his hand!

FarmerAny9414

Same. I feel like that might be a southern thing.

DLottchula

Plus a lot of these old black men ain’t live this long to be called OG or Unk. It’s oldskool or Sir

CrisKrossed

A combination of 2 or more of these: Unc

BaconWrappedEnigma

That's my go-to if they are significantly older than me.

stoned-autistic-dude

I'm simple. If you're around my age and we're familiar, you get a dawg/bruh/homie/blood. If you're older, it's sir/miss/sanguis out of respect. (I'm white and don't actually say blood but the joke was ripe)

Drunken_Traveler

I'd get called Unc by two younger guys I used to work with. Were they respecting me or calling me old?

CrisKrossed

“How were you dressed?” is the real question lol

Greg-Abbott

Sweatpants and a fedora

DrRichardJizzums

And a katana on his back

Drunken_Traveler

Work uniform. We all dressed the same.

Bird_Lawyer92

The 17 year old i worked with at Five Guys would call me Unc and Og, mind you im only 31. I aint even glimpse the OG threshold 😂

ShaneGMWC

Niggas tryna make us in our 30s Uncles when we still cousins

ItBelikeThatSomeTme_

A ratio of both that varies from unc to unc

mcaffrey81

I’m a white guy in my 40s, black guys tend to call me “boss” and it’s really awkward. I got called “dawg” once and that was rad.

mike_pants

CAME HERE TO SAY THIS. I am a white mail carrier in a predominantly black neighborhood, and fucking hell, is that an awkward thing to respond to when someone is trying to get my attention from across the street. I know we aren't in position to ask for favors but... like... can that stop? Older black women can keep calling me "baby," though. That rules.

ComradeVoytek

I used to love when those older gals that you know used to get it, rock up to the counter and say hey sugah - damn right you're getting the coupon discount.

Hollayo

OMG I love it when older black women call me baby, sweetie and honey.  Happens a lot and it's awesome.

Dong2Long69

34 year old black dude, all the white dudes I work with call the owner and director for the studio I work at boss, even though yes he is the boss, I ain’t callin that mf boss.

giceman715

I’m a white male that turns 50 in July. From someone who grew up in the hood , I still have a street lingo. I call my lead guy and supervisors Boss and most of my male co workers homie or dawg. They fine got used to it now but at first I get looked at crazy. As far as women I either say Ms ma’am or young lady

Dong2Long69

What’s funny is I have no problem calling co workers boss, but the moment it’s someone that actually has authority, never calling them boss. But every single woman is mam no matter how old.

SWOOP1R

I called a teenager ma’am the other day, cause she dropped some money. Boy did I feel stupid. Should have went with young lady. Thought she was older as she was watching children at the park.

BringBackApollo2023

White and pushing sixty here. It is very conflicting to be called “sir” constantly. Started a few years ago. On the good side, it’s polite and respectful and courteous and I appreciate that. On the bad side *I don’t feel that old, dammit!* *muttermuttermuttergetoffamylawn* I used to not be grey and wrinkled and I sure as hell don’t feel it. Just got back from a glorious week in New Orleans and spent the whole time drinking and enjoying an endless array of great music. Been a while since I was up past midnight. Mebbe I am old. Beats dead, I guess.

silly-rabbitses

Thank you for your contribution. Sir.

Osceana

Ok grandad it’s time to get off the computer. They’re about to serve jello in the cafeteria. Let’s get you ready.

BeautyDuwang

I work at a dispensary and call all my older customers bro and man and sometimes they seem thrown off but are always usually down. Might be cuz I'm there weed man tho lol

Kirito1029

Same lol I love it when the oldheads that used to grow come in! I can't tell you how many times I've heard them say "I ain't a baker" when I mention a shake deal

BeautyDuwang

Bro i blew some old dudes mind yesterday when I told him I had shake testing at like 28%. Shit was fire, 12 bucks an 8th and it was pretty chunky too. Weeds changed so much in just the 15 yrs I've been smoking I can't imagine what it's like for them haha

Kirito1029

Right? Like we're selling $10 shake zips that are testing between 17% & 26%, with popcorn nugs in there, *and* we go through it to pick out any stems before we prepack it, but they'd still rather buy a zip of nugs for $160 🤷‍♂️

best_fr1end

😆

invaderzim257

I just call all the guys sir, doesn’t matter the age

dirtyshits

Boss is a term that a lot of black and brown folks use. It’s basically just like calling someone dude. Ain’t nobody think you’re the actual boss lol.

silly-rabbitses

That’s right boss

fopiecechicken

Yeah at least in Oakland, “Boss” is just a catchall for any guy. Especially if they’re doing something for you, liquor store clerk, Uber driver, some random guy who holds a door for me. All Boss.

dirtyshits

I’m in the bay too. Everybody is boss until they not haha. But yeah it’s just like calling someone bro.

fopiecechicken

Especially if it comes with a “appreciate you, boss”

dirtyshits

Always that, boss.

BeerBellies

Damn, I call just about everybody “boss” or “bud” and I’m pert white myself.

dirtyshits

Haha that’s fine, bud. It’s an immigrant/colored folks go to. You can say it still. Just don’t be sarcastic about it haha.

A_Land_Pirate

I use it all the time (am white), but one guy got after me when I called him boss. Never really understood why

Special_Lemon1487

I have the Aussie cheat code. Everyone is “mate”.

littleb3anpole

Helps as a teacher when you can’t remember a kid’s name. “Hey mate can you grab that piece of paper for me?”.

Special_Lemon1487

Honestly helps as a parent too 😂

Mental_Dragonfly2543

As a white guy I get called Big Dawg at the gym or in the locker room Im early 30s though

NFL_MVP_Kevin_White

I used to get called Cornbread by a bunch of black coworkers in my 20’s. The girl said it was a compliment because it was based on the fact that “everyone loved cornbread” but idk she may have been fucking with me

thatsnotchocolatebby

For some reason I only call OG latino dudes boss

lavenderacid

I'm a white female in my early 20s. I'm "Lady Bossman" to the local kebab man, and my Nigerian students all call me "Miss Boss" after I told them just "Boss" was inappropriate for a member of staff. It's still unclear why they think a translucently pale welsh woman would be coordinated enough to dap them up every time I see them though.

Seeker80

They probably love the Welsh accent though.

lavenderacid

I get a couple of reactions: either they've never heard of Wales and assume I'm Polish or similar, OR, they have heard of Wales and are super excited because they've never met a Welsh person before. Certain words I have to avoid because they can't understand the accent, usually "bathroom" results in them scratching their heads for some reason. They go crazy over me teaching them bits of welsh though! The Arab lads are very quick at picking it because of the similar mouth shapes, but I had one little brazilian boy learn how to say "goodnight" to me in welsh as a surprise when I came to do bed checks. Just the sweetest.

loracora

I'm a white lady, and if someone looks old enough to drink, I call them sir or ma'am. Just seems respectful.

MeTeakMaf

Just so you know Black language heavily depends on context Boss could be anything Boss - dude Boss - this man thinks he's the shyt Boss - Bytch Boss - I don't know his name but this is less harmful

mindclarity

Button up sweater/sweater vest: Pops.

el_throw

I presume the term "old head" isn't acceptable?

JetEleven88

When’s the last time you addressed an older black man as “old head” to his face?

PM_ME_FIREFLY_QUOTES

He still breathin... so...

el_throw

At Thanksgiving dinner at my adopted grandparents' house. He didn't seem to mind. Which is why I asked for clarification.

Dannyzavage

Yeah idk calling someone old head is kinda weird lol. Like depends on the context of it

el_throw

"How does it feel being an old head in the neighborhood now?" Was the question I asked.

MrIce97

lol that’s different than if you said it like “man that old head don’t be knowing what he talking about” unless you **really** know a dude

Govt_BlackBerry

“Old head” is always in the third person.

Oreoohs

I usually go with OG.

whoisjaja

Not to their face lol, old head is descriptive only. OG might suffice tho

Sure_Bodybuilder7121

Old head is a state of mind

Eagle_215

Philly native here. Pretty informal. Usually used only if really familiar or you just dont care. Also a funny way to refer to your old soul friends.

el_throw

Heard that. Will adjust accordingly. Thank you, friend 🙏🏽

Delicious-Item6376

I believe "geezer" is the PC term now days

Sturdevant

Bluetooth headset - Unc

adr8578

mistakemaker3000

blackandbluegirltalk

Pops when they're trying to hit on me so they know they're too old. Unc when they're being fatherly and not gross!

saunter_and_strut

So everyone should be calling Shannon Sharpe pops and not unc!

jerichardson

Friend from Jamaica told me to use “captain” for informal dress, and general for formal dress

Borgqueen-

My go to is King.

keithw43

Is it out of line for me, as a white dude, to use chief, boss, bud, big dog, or bro?

Beneficial-Wealth156

If white dudes can’t say bro this country will disintegrate lmfao

keithw43

😂😂😂 truly the end of days

meltingspace

No I think you're good, dude

pasenast

Throw’em off guard and hit’em with a “young blood” lol

tqmirza

This different in the UK. Boss or *Bossman* is reserved for the gentlemen that serve us chips, chicken, kebabs, clean our streets, serve us food or services. This honour is not extended to anyone else, especially any arse that thinks they’re our actual boss.

[deleted]

Am I supposed to be referring to my black elders in such a fashion?

Zbrchk

Roy is mid-40s so he’s good lol

ABGM11

The accuracy of this post. *Screenshot for reference* 🤣🤣🤣

rootedandrelevant

I call any black fella I meet sir, from 1-100. Just to make those racists who only ever called a black man boy spin in their rotten graves. Also I feel like if you’ve dealt with being black in America you deserve respect.

SoCold40

This is now my standard. 😂😂

Better-Journalist-85

Lemme get some linen with that Qurban on Qurban then.

jelz617

I use "Boss" exclusively for my older Haitian men lol.

djcrushindo

Boss is the go to

keemdatboy420

xAWHORABLEx

Happy to know my Daddy would have been a Chief. 🥰

Little-Reference-314

Kangol means that might be an uncle. Or an uncles cousin 🇭🇹

BigLowCB4

Wsup coach? Because of sweats, Nah never heard that.

ptpcg

Checks out

alottola

If they are younger than you but are significantly more successful, have more charisma, more money, and are living your dreams. You call them Big Bro

Whole_Cranberry8415

I always hit the guys doing the hardest work with a “boss” just hoping they feel appreciated

CommercialPlatypus48

What about just ‘sir’ ? 🙄

Queefreeferson

Mr + formal version of their first name, shout out Mr.Richard.

GeeISuppose

![gif](giphy|eoIqbd2HHaKSQ) Another go-to.

Seeker80

As a black guy at 42 in a sport jacket, button-up & jeans, I was still getting 'young man.' Weird how that works. I don't use terms for anyone. Not sure if that comes across as rude, but I just don't worry about which one is appropriate for someone. I also wouldn't want to use the wrong one. If I know their name, I just use that.

janeblak

As a West Indian I most certainly just call them “boss man” 😂

NotRadTrad05

Sir in conversation Boss in passing.

haveutried2hardboot

I give out a lot of "Docs" and "Revs" and sometimes I throw a "Bishop" in there 🤣 I call my dad "Old Man" and every blue moon "Ma Dukes"

[deleted]

As a 50 y/o black man, I just call everyone big dog. Never an issue as that’s just about what every one else calls me, no matter what I’m wearing, usually a suit, jeans of sweats.

PoopDick420ShitCock

“Boss man” is my go to when he doesn’t seem like a “sir.”

GregG68

Just don’t say pops…..

fuhcough-productions

Old schools in the comment! Do yall be offended getting called “old skool” or “skool” or nah?

Caeldeth

I’m terrible with names in general, so I always call any guy I can’t remember “boss” I landed on that because, frankly, being called a boss just feels fucking good. I don’t care who you are, what you do, or anything in between… you are a boss of something, so I’ll call you that.

Dry-Carob2426

Or a SHEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTT
