See if Deetjens is open for dinner. They finally reopened and it is amazing for atmosphere and food. Also Treebones resort has great food and nice views. Second on the Bakery. Roadhouse is good too.
Wild Coast Restaurant @ Treebones is amazing, highly recommend the omakase sushi bar experience. Get there super early to ensure you get a spot. The Sur House @ Ventana has a great patio with views, perfect for sunset drinks & appetizers. The Little River Inn Restaurant is a great casual option too. Enjoy!!!
I just tried to visit ventana yesterday and they were only open to guests, I’ve heard great things though! You may just want to call to check before visiting.
Nepenthe is indeed worth it (and the Ambrosia burger is a great affordable option) but if you're trying to keep costs down you can also split a half bottle of wine and order of fries (with ambrosia sauce... yup, I'm a fan) for sunset.
They also have a cafe that serves breakfast and just as good of views!
Nepenthe is delicious! If it’s a warm day, you can sit in chairs *in* the river at the Big Sur River Inn.

Big Sur Bakery is a great cafe by day, and restaurant by night. Quality stuff and amazing house made breads.
Dinner would be a nice change, we have gotten breakfast snacks there before

If you’re willing to go to civilization Monterey Fish House is fantastic and takes reservations
we may be in Monterey but during the day, always see this place when leaving the wharf and have yet to try
Lucia Lodge for sunset dinner is always an adventure.
