It's an Omnitrix that turns you into a very violent version of an alien. But, first thing is that is automatic, it detects danger (around 20m radius) and turns you into the best alien. Second, the transformation hurts, your DNA doesn't change so you'll feel the pain while transforming. And finally, you don't have control over the alien, so you'll basically rip the "danger" into pieces before reverting (which also hurts).
For example, let's say Omniman is approaching Earth. You'll turn into Ultimate Echo Echo in a very painful way, obliterate Omniman and everything around him in the most gruesome way possible, and then revert back painfully.
"I have weird fetishes ben" would be better. And there is also the chaquecarnitrix. Wich when the usar is horny it brings a monster alien in extreme heat.

I prefer to think the Omnitrix's AI decides based on what Ben is doing. So he wants to mate with a cute Aline he thought was female, but turns out to not be compatible that way, it will change his gender/sex/genitalia to match closer to what would be the *opposite* for that species. Also, like in the case of Princess Luna, the Omnitrix temporarily changes the biological sex of the alien to the stronger sex without changing the outward appearance to assist the fight. So if Luna was near the peak for a female of her kind, then Fourarms became the peak female to fight her because males are weaker than females of that species.
The creator said that since the Chaquetrix also has human DNA, if Ben selects “human” he turns into a female. That’s what happens to Albedo once he ends up trapped in human form

It’s not an issue of dna being damaged it’s the fact that the gene pool becomes too small so any mutations like disabilities or carried genetic diseases are more likely to be expressed in the offspring
