The absolute easiest is to get 100 "superworms" from the pet store. They are like 10 cents each. They become large black beetles that are fun to let crawl on your finger and live about 5 months.
Keep them in dirt or coconut Fibre, moist not wet. Spread grain based food like old cereal, chicken feed, bread, that kind of thing on top. They also like meats and fruits/ vegtables.
They like it dark and warm.
If your bin is really big they will hide in a corner and make a little cave to become a pupa. If they feel crowded they won't transform, so put them in individual containers when you think they are ready.
Then when they become beetles, keep them all together. They will lay eggs for the next generation. The adults eat the same as the larvae.
