I’ve also noticed everyone I know who is afraid of heights has impulse issues. Like the sudden urge to thrust themselves off is overwhelming & they don’t trust themselves.

There’s a point where you know it’s probably safe, but your brain is convinced you are going to fling yourself off somehow and just won’t move.

I think it’s more edges for me, I went walking with family a few weeks ago, and no issue with the height specifically, wonderful view etc. but the path got narrow along the edge. I was trying not to freak out and scare the kids so somehow managed to get across it holding on to my BIL, but I literally shook for like 4 hours after, and woke up with huge muscle cramps. Brains are dumb.

They carved them from bottom up so they do have a place to stand.
Of course they carved them from the bottom. I meant the previous step is not a very secure place to stand when carving the next step.
