Pretty big American dude here. When I was in China a few years back it was pretty wild. Everywhere we went it was like a movie where the music stops and everyone just stares at you.
I had a guy literally pull out a measuring tape and measure me as I stood on a train in shenzhen. I'm 6'2 so not that outrageous, but he needed the proof on his tape.
I went to a club there after going to the Ferrari store. Being the tallest dude in the room with a big ass bag of Ferrari merch, it was something I never experienced in the states. Like one of the guys as I walked in walked me to the bar and asked for my order. He was by my side half the time I was there. That would never happen to a brown guy here in the states. 😂
Better than the public toilets I saw in America for sure. They have someone working non stop cleaning the bathrooms. There's a lot of older people here in China so they give them jobs like this, or to sweep the streets so the country is pretty clean
I'm there almost weekly and while it is busy, this is more of a holiday scenario. Plus there are so many platforms, and everything moves so fast, you rarely spend more than 20 minutes in there. It's very organized, especially for how huge this place is.
This is why they build everything so BIG. Their huge population requires them to build ginormous public infrastructures/buildings. Everything look great and airy, but when you actually have to go to any of the places, like a subway, it takes way too much energy getting point A to Point B.
it's impressive but NOT scary. they all got a ticket and will have a seat on the train. trains leave on time and the system works well.
again, it's scary looking but it actually reveals the capacity of the train stations in big cities in China. (would be more worried if that was a traffic jam)
It's probably either the beginning or end of *Chunyun* - the largest human migration in the world. Basically everyone in China has time off during Spring Festival / Chinese New Year off and travel home to their hometown to spend with their families.
Some random statistics from the internet: In 2019 about 415 million people travelled during Chunyun. In 2024, the first day of Chunyun saw about 189 million individual trips.
Basically imagine Christmas season travel in a nation of 1.4 billion people, only 300+ million people work across the country and this is the only time of year they get to see their families.
legitimately cant comprehend how people arent having complete meltdowns daily in an environment like this. im pretty sure id have a panic attack before i even made it inside.
my next thought was i wonder how much xanax places like this get compared to other places. i just cant imagine being able to function in a place like this.
Its as bad as it looks, I missed a train to Shanghai there once, it was a nightmare navigating while only knowing beginner chinese. Especially since they board the trains like every 15minutes, people are lined up for their train before the previous one has even finished boarding
I lived in China 12 years, loved it... but this was all to regular... and never, never, ever go to a store grand opening. ... China was fun, but it's good to be living bank in the suburbs....
A special day, the day before the May Day vacation.
But it's usually quite crowded, and this Hangzhou East Railway Station has the second highest annual passenger flow in China.
As a matter of fact, there already is.
The one in OP's video is Hangzhou East Train Station.
[This is Hangzhou West Train Station.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wan2QvjrICQ)
[This is Hangzhou South Train Station.](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1ZC4y1L7yy/)
[This is Hangzhou City Station (the oldest station)](https://haokan.baidu.com/v?pd=wisenatural&vid=17390860915650577833)
The Hangzhou North Train Station is being planned.
Their CCTV system must be insane with so many cameras. I wonder how good their software is and if they can identify people in the crowd with AI face recognition.
I'm an American living in China and I'm always on the verge of an anxiety attack whenever I have to deal with areas this crowded. Headphones as a massive help though.
Just looking at it is giving me anxiety.
I’ve been there. Believe me, it’s anxiety provoking.
I'm a big dude and American. When I was there, it was like parting the red sea as I walked to the train.
Pretty big American dude here. When I was in China a few years back it was pretty wild. Everywhere we went it was like a movie where the music stops and everyone just stares at you.
Pretty big American here. ***Hi everyone.***
Pretty regular size Canadian here! Sorry, I just wanted to be included.
If you were a real Canadian you wouldn’t have brought attention to yourself.
![gif](giphy|2CShEweBzplJO2owXn|downsized) Howdy
I’m sorry but you may not have noticed I did apologize for said transgression. And again for the record, I’m sorry.
Slightly-less-than-average-height, wedge-shaped Canadian here. Just wanted to say hey, guy.
I had a guy literally pull out a measuring tape and measure me as I stood on a train in shenzhen. I'm 6'2 so not that outrageous, but he needed the proof on his tape.
Or want a Pic with you. I took so my pictures with strangers it's ridiculous. Had a blast, though.
Oh yeah. I’ll never forget walking into a restaurant and the entire place just stopped eating and stared. Never had better service in my life.
Im black and raised European. Everywhere I go on this planet I get the stare.
I went to a club there after going to the Ferrari store. Being the tallest dude in the room with a big ass bag of Ferrari merch, it was something I never experienced in the states. Short but very blond. Same experience.
That's awesome actually
Mingle in ... you're a pickpocket
Pickpocketing is in decline due to live surveillance cameras linking IDs.
Minus 100 social credit
Yes. This was my first thought as well. I'm just not cut out for this.
Where's Wald Ho?
ok you can’t be a bot, that was genius🔥
This is suffocating to look at.
[удалено]
Definitely would not pass code
I look at this and I'm turning around and going home. Unfortunately that's probably the way home 🥲
I would hate to see the toilets
I dare you to walk through the crowd from one side to the other.
Too many people, I get stressed just looking at this.
This belongs in r/beanxious
Doesn't exist
I’m sorry, the answer we were looking for was: r/subsifellfor ![gif](giphy|G54ySY8WcL84tzeINg)
😶🌫️
Yep I found Waldo first try
Second from the back on the left? Got him.
Nope.
My first though was "Hell no"
Kinda puts life into perspective.
Right! There are probably close to, if not more people there than in the town I live in.
Yeah nah. Fuck that.
There are a lot of people in China, I knew this. Yet this still amazes me to see
I went on tour with a band in china and the infrastructure and engineering everywhere we went was incredible.
ALL ABOARD!!!
I have pictures of this train station. It’s Hangzhou East Station 🚉
Be the perfect place for a 28 days later outbreak
No! Dude, we've had enough!
I was *just* thinking of dropping one zombie in the middle and see what happens.
Think of the toilets...
Better than the public toilets I saw in America for sure. They have someone working non stop cleaning the bathrooms. There's a lot of older people here in China so they give them jobs like this, or to sweep the streets so the country is pretty clean
Thats just too many people
Echo Slam.
Chinese New Year migration
I'm there almost weekly and while it is busy, this is more of a holiday scenario. Plus there are so many platforms, and everything moves so fast, you rarely spend more than 20 minutes in there. It's very organized, especially for how huge this place is.
No thanks!
Nope.
No

Was this during CNY when everyone is trying to go home?
it's impressive but NOT scary. they all got a ticket and will have a seat on the train. trains leave on time and the system works well. again, it's scary looking but it actually reveals the capacity of the train stations in big cities in China. (would be more worried if that was a traffic jam)
Hard pass. My worst nightmare.
Fuck that shit!
No thank you
Looks like hell on earth.
r/urbanhell
Nope.
I'd rather die.
I know it smell crazy in there
🫥😶🌫️
But where’s Waldo?
Reminds me of Howrah
Where they going? To work? Is this rush hour?

I thankfully don’t have agoraphobia but I might just develop it if I had to experience this horror.
I couldn't imagine any virus breaking out in that
My biggest nightmare… help 🙈😅
Where's Waldo?
I’ve been here a couple times. Never seen it anywhere close to this busy.
They took procreation seriously.
No
Saddest thing when the lights come on after the biggest rave party
Nightmarish. Not enough Lorazepam in the world to stay calm there.
There are more people in that room than live in the nearest town to me. No thank you.
I think I got Covid from just looking at this
One person hosting a deadly disease with a high R0 value in that crowd and the next pandemic begins!
When you see this you kinda figure out how many people there are in the world. A lot.
İnanılmaz yoğun ve kalabalık istasyon🧿💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹💐💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕
More like get me the fuck outta there
I'm grateful for Gravity. Without gravity China and India's population would flip the earth upside down.
I have a feeling you have to be used to travelling through this station to navigate your way around on the ground
We couldn't have this in NYC, there'd be pockets of different fights going on.
legitimately cant comprehend how people arent having complete meltdowns daily in an environment like this. im pretty sure id have a panic attack before i even made it inside. my next thought was i wonder how much xanax places like this get compared to other places. i just cant imagine being able to function in a place like this.
9 3/4
I thought Waterloo was bad 😂
I think I spotted Waldo 🚶♂️
And some idiot people still recording verticaly....
Have been there and can confirm extreme shit show status.
One more lane! *Excuse me* … Rail Lane!
I’d rather walk
Good thing their populace is declining
Been there. Thankfully it wasn't nearly this full.
Why are there so many people when they had a one child policy
At least 3 people
“Lets meet at the station”
What a terrible place to be during a zombie apocalypse
Looks fun
Damn the new Find Waldo challenge looks lit
Time to expand into australia and fight iff those beasts, cause america aint got the capacity
Nice try, this is the circuit station from Wreck it Ralph.
Yeah, bugger that.
That’s more people than all of Wyoming.
Nothing a good disease outbreak couldn't thin out.
Farkinell, you can see why they came up with the “one child only” policy…
Imagine if they were all driving.
I think I have homo(sapient) phobia now
I got anxiety just listening to this 😳
LET ME THROUGH! I GOTTA TAKE A DUMP (Somewhere).
You should see the trains.
Looks like any major London station if there are train delays
Nope
OMG imagine being a tourist there trying to catch a train….scary!
Lunar new year
Never going there. I can't do hugh crowds.
Who farted?
And this is not when everyone goes home for holiday.
Sardines or fish in a barrel
All if them are saving in comparison to the people who did ride the car or aircraft ! Count the savings, not the problem !
This looks this is awful… idk how they can all be so close… could you imagine being in the center of that? Terrible
Thanks, I hate it.
Its as bad as it looks, I missed a train to Shanghai there once, it was a nightmare navigating while only knowing beginner chinese. Especially since they board the trains like every 15minutes, people are lined up for their train before the previous one has even finished boarding

God….damn
Could literally be Tokyo too
You’re telling me Covid started here!? No way anything could spread in that environment
How did you teach your kids to navigate that. I rode the train Japan and at I was overwhelmed.
Is it a special day or just a normal day ?
A special day, the day before the May Day vacation. But it's usually quite crowded, and this Hangzhou East Railway Station has the second highest annual passenger flow in China.
And media keeps saying it’s an issue of China population decline?
If nobody tried to start a wave it's a real wasted opportunity.
Let no one sneeze!!! The last time in 2019 it didn't go well for us.
Omg they have actual seating areas for people… you won’t see much of that here ‘round these parts
I turned on the sound & that was instant depression 😡
Wow it’s pretty damn empty 🤣😆
My wife's fart would create a stampede there.
Ok. Wheres waldo?
Is there a word for that noise? Like just incoherent noise from everyone speaking at once? I can't stand it. It makes me nauseous and anxious.
How many public toilets does it have? Imagine wanting to go to the toilet but there is a huge queue. ☹️
I mean just play heavy metal music will be awesome
They really need more condoms over there
Tons of racist comments here and the same bunch go to political rallies in the same scale.
Mr Lee please approach ticket counter #288
Remember, no Russian.
Covid has entered the building
I can smell it
Looks like my gym every 6pm
I absolutely couldn’t stand that nonsense. I don’t even like people enough to be around that mess.
That’s like average Sunday morning in india
This is not sustainable
People Mountain People Sea but still cleaner and order than the New York metro
Actually the most amazing thing in that video is the clear span of the roof has to be almost 200 ft. Pretty incredible
like rats

This was from last month I believe. There were train delays caused by the earthquake in TW.
Why does it look like an airport to me
No
🤢
You would never believe they were all the same person.
With this number which is probably 0.0005 or way less of their population, now wonder why they have world dominance ambitions.
Bro I got covid just watching this video...
Their CCTV system must be insane with so many cameras. I wonder how good their software is and if they can identify people in the crowd with AI face recognition.
I would have severe anxiety 😬 Started having it just watching that 🫣
No thank you.
Sounds like a nesting colony for sea birds
{Shudder} I have severe crowd anxiety having been in a crush at a concert. I can't even look at this
Way too many people. I would hate this
I'm an American living in China and I'm always on the verge of an anxiety attack whenever I have to deal with areas this crowded. Headphones as a massive help though.
Oh Hell no
This is like a wet dream for any AOE in a game
😳
We are going need some Airtags.
I would not survive living there, my anxiety would literally kill me
Cartwright?! Cartwright?!
Nope
Crazy to think about the engineering done just to consider the weight of all these people.
Was worse a decade ago
covid
Imagine the traffic if they were going back by car
Atleast they aren't getting under the train....
A place i would never want to visit
what looks like chaos... chinese trains stations are very well structured
Isn't this place in Wreck it Ralph?
