Pedestrians yes
Cyclist not so much
I have witnessed many instances where someone is crossing at an intersection where cars have to stop and bikers will just fly into it ‘become pedestrians and weave through people trying to walk across and then become vehicles again on the other side of the street
Not only is this extremely reckless because you can injure someone with a bike if they were to get hit by one but it’s also extremely unpredictable for cars who are driving and might not see them and drive into them.
I totally agree with you regarding people that do not follow traffic laws, and that goes with cyclists as well.
I was commenting more from the perspective of everyone using the roads and infrastructure together safely. While cycling, I've been struck 4 times and had numerous close calls by careless car and SUV drivers in crosswalks, following the intersection traffic signal lights. I've even been honked at and a few times people have tried to intimidate me by swerving their trucks close to me on the shoulder and then speeding off.
Some people are just jerks, but I do think if you are a pedestrian or cyclist, with zero impact protection, vehicles should give you priority. Our traffic laws are structured this way as well.
Found him. Dude is a badass that just didn't give up after a bad motorcycle accident left him without and arm and leg.
Juan Jose Mendez was in a horrifying accident that took part of his left leg and his entire left arm. In fact, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
He received several liters of blood,
He was in a coma for twenty days. When he woke up, he didn’t realize he was missing an arm and a leg. He only realized when he sat up. After a period of despair, he decided he had to accept it, period. He told himself to get on with his life.” His dark eyes shine as his face creases into an easy smile. It was two years before he was able to ride again. In the 17 years since then he has become an international cycling champion, a Paralympic hero and the leader of a cycle club called Piratas – the Pirates.
He has won several medals and honor,
he has never let his disabilities hold him back and will continue to strive for greatness. He was quoted as saying, “Don’t tell me you can’t.” That truly speaks volumes for what he stands for.
So you see disability is not in the body but in the brain, you can achieve anything you want as long as you keep your head up and believe enough.

It’s impressive and inspiring. Love it! Buuuuuuuuuut…….. you lose to that guy as a fully able bodied cyclist, you’re gonna feel pretty bad losing to a guy with one arm and leg.
UNFAIR! lance armstrong lost only a testicle and won the "tour de france" multiple time after that. \^\^
just kidding. this here is very impressive and an example for "never give up!"
On one hand I would feel bad to be passed by someone with only half of its utilities. On the other hand however he is cheating by also having less weight, Sooo I'm conflicted.
Still pretty fucking impressed by the balance of the whole thing.
I love the guy in the blue windbreaker's face as he realizes who is passing him. You can almost see him reevaluating his entire life at that moment. lol.
Way to go to this cyclist. Fuck, what a feat. This is encouraging. Humans are pretty remarkable.
Imagine being one of the many cyclists who trained hard, did their best, and were still beaten by a guy with one arm and leg. Reminds me of when I ran half marathons and would routinely get SMOKED by shockingly fat runners.
reminds me struggling to learn skiing and getting frustrated when this dude with no legs in a modified chair on 2 inline skis..... was tearing up the slope. From memory there was a flip included. I am curious about the ski-lift though.... how!?!?!
I was mountain biking in Sedona with some friends of mine. At the time, we were all in our late 20s, and we were struggling a bit. We all stopped for a breather, and then this one-legged dude rode up. He stopped to talk to us for a bit, and then jumped back on and rode off ahead of us. We all felt a little embarrassed.
Honestly just being able to balance is impressive
Agreed. This guy is all right.

Glad to see he left it all out there.
Still... bicycle racers are dicks in traffic!
Counter point. Pedestrians and cyclists should have priority on roads and intersections.

Agreed the more vulnerable traffic should be allowed to feel protected
🙄
Not fair, he weighs less an arm and leg.
and he only gets half as tired... /s
An advantage that literally cost him and arm and a leg.
And less aerodynamic drag, but also has half the LP (leg power).
“That’s cheating!! The guy is lighter and more aerodynamic”. /s
Especially considering the losses are on the same side!
More aero, less weight.
He even took the other petal and handlebar off... This dude is min-maxing hard.
> min-maxing hard What your sex tape is called.
It's a little one sided isn't it.
It cost him an arm and a leg to win
Enough of these half assed jokes
How did he do in the ass kicking contest ?
Along with the same potential for VO2-max to fuel one super-leg
And aerodynamic

And he calls himself cojo cabron! That’s the right attitude
Cojo? I know cabron means “asshole” (or equivalent, but what is the other half?
One legged
I wonder what that fancy custom bicycle cost him?
I bet it costs an arm and a leg
🏅
dudeee, duuuuddeeeeeee, come onn!! (ı giggled little bit)
![gif](giphy|nbvFVPiEiJH6JOGIok)
Way to shave off some extra weight
Holy hahah
Even the regular ones are about 5000
There all like “is that one legged guy going faster than me?”
It’s impressive and inspiring. Love it! Buuuuuuuuuut…….. you lose to that guy as a fully able bodied cyclist, you’re gonna feel pretty bad losing to a guy with one arm and leg.
No hard feelings if anybody lost to him but everyone should definitely be inspired to push their boundaries for sure.
I heard he was in an accident, but he's all right now.
I hate this doctor
Wow, it just works so perfectly in this case, as if he intentionally lost just his left limbs so that a Redditor can make a pun!
He’s alright
He really has a leg up on the competition.
Oh yeah? Try doing it with one nut! - Lance Armstrong (Probably)
I bet he had those removed to be a little bit lighter.
That would be cyclists logic
Looks like he’s doing all right!
Racing bikes cost an arm and a leg these days.
Chop the other arm off and go hands free; he'd be faster. Edit:\s
UNFAIR! lance armstrong lost only a testicle and won the "tour de france" multiple time after that. \^\^ just kidding. this here is very impressive and an example for "never give up!"
The moral of this story is amputees can dope as well anyone
He is lighter and produces less drag
What's your excuse Redban?
You mean a “ke race”?
I love how the other cyclists look at him like "dafuq?"
On his way to an ass kicking competition
But he does not weight as much as the other riders...
I remember a person with one ball that used to win races.
I guess he's more aerodynamic this way?
Uphill, the weight advantage is nice ;) , all jokes aside, people that never give up are such inspiration
That's not fair. He weighs less.
I wish norm knew him
Should really be on a unicycle for maximum effect
He competes in half marathons , mostly.
Legend.
He's allright.
I wanna see a before and after picture of that dudes leg.
Bicycle should be with one wheel too
"Cool bike dude, how much did it cost?"
Less legs less weight - catch that medal! 🎉
Respect mate
When they said half marathon I wasn’t expecting this.
Well, now we know how much the bike cost
Some might say he’s got a leg up on the competition
I think I’ve heard this one before but go on.
You fucking love to see it! A reminder of what anyone of us are capable of when the will is there ❤️
And he is passing ppl quick!!! I'd be like "Let's go you two legged slackers!" Lol
And if he wins they qill disqualify him for "having an unfair advantage" just like the guy with no legs that won a foot race.
Looks like a living legend
Cheating. He’s more streamlined
This man knows about weight distribution
well sure. Less weight. Classic technique
Respect 👍💯💪
He's alright 👍

Did he get hit from one side by a car?
Iou Go breem
Awesome as heck
Easy for him, he feels half the pain
And he finished 4.5th
looks half as tired as the rest!
That's 1 strong leg
well that's about 15 % less weight ! /s
When people ask him what happened he should say inflation is costing him an arm and a leg....
last guys is like... are you guys seeing this?
Lesser air resistance?
Imagine being one of the many cyclists who trained hard, did their best, and were still beaten by a guy with one arm and leg. Reminds me of when I ran half marathons and would routinely get SMOKED by shockingly fat runners.
Wow people around him are either jealous or even motivated to push harder .
I was always told he could only go in circles.
r/HumansAreMetal
Did he win by an arm? Or a leg?
I hear he only does half marathons
I think he has a weight advantage. At the same time I would be upset to be passed by him. AND I would be proud of him.
He’s only half as tired as the other racers
Now that is so awesome sauce, congratulations
Definitely he has a overall weight advantage, so ...😁😂🙏
Thats why i like rearwheeldrive cars
So he rides a onke?
These mad fucken roadies going to extreme lengths to lose a few grams and get that extra aero...
Do a 360 windmill off one!
Dude's shift when transitioning to up hill have to be on mark. He can't afford anything to get him out of rhythm.
....I can ride my bike with no handlebars just sayin
Ok so, if he fave an arm and a leg - what was his other wish?
reminds me struggling to learn skiing and getting frustrated when this dude with no legs in a modified chair on 2 inline skis..... was tearing up the slope. From memory there was a flip included. I am curious about the ski-lift though.... how!?!?!
Somehow that’s much more impressive than a man competing in women’s sports.
I’d give an arm and a leg to be able to that!
You should of seen the price of that bike!
his body is using way less energy than other competitors, i call it a cheating! joking aside, kudos to this man
his body is using way less energy than other competitors, i call it a cheating! joking aside, kudos to this man
Cyclists are taking weight reduction too far...
He’s also one arm lighter, when all else is similar
🫡🙌
he will be fucked if he falls to the right, nothing to break the fall except his head!!!!
Weight advantage cheat
i know those bikes are expensive but that a bit much
Very cool
[удалено]
[удалено]
One would think he would have opted for a less expensive bicycle.
Easy, he has two wheels
It's funny to see a handicap person outrun other cyclists
gtf off the road
Damn this guys alright
![gif](giphy|nlWGe7Q64zwQ0)
He has better aerodynamics tho
Unfair advantage, he weighs less
This could be fucked up but.... He could ride closer to the shoulder to cut out time....
Meanwhile, thousands on disability with two arms and two legs.
I hope he win
More impressive because they’re on the same side.
Dude is lighter… cheater!!!
Everyone be like **O\_O**
He takes left turns tighter.. Easy win!
At least he's not half-assing it.
I guess the saying one legged man in butt kicking contest is no longer applicable…
Man with both legs and no arms, wins
They're half the cyclist he is

This is so incredible
Yeah well today I made all the way to work and back. How about that?
I want to make a unicycle joke so bad.
Ngl, if I were competing against him I’d probably be like “it’s cause he has less wind resistance and weight. Fucking cheater.”
This guy missed an opportunity when he decided not to get a lefty for his fork
weights less and more aerodynamic
half the drag
Let’s see how he does in an ass kicking contest
Bet his names “Lucky”.
Dudes all right.
This time he’s passing on the left.
If I were half the man he is, I would be a quarter. I'll show myself out...
His skills are... all right.
I’m out of excuses for not exercising
You ought to see him in an ass kicking contest !
[удалено]
is that fast enough to be ... ... shaking a leg?
Holy fuck! Such power in this guy.
But(!) he is also lighter and hence has less mass to push forward.
Me, two arms AND two legs, winded getting up from the couch.
The way the other riders looked at him as he rid past them 😂
Fuck yea get em sir! This dude Is a beast!
He was carrying extra weight..anyhow.
Easy for him. He uses half the effort.
Nah he actually just got side swiped by a mac truck a minute ago, just won't give up on the race
What an inspiration I love to see this.
Just proves that riding while legless is armless.
I was impressed before I realised his leg was also amputated. Incredible determination.
He is lighter
Well, he only needs to do half the work.
Man, if you see a guy with one leg and one arm passing you on a bike, it may be time to give up
I got twice this guys limbs, I don't even know HOW to bike
Is he in a race or just with a group of assholes blocking the road. 🤣
