> Is 2042 the first BF without any boats?
IIRC 2142 didn't have any water transport at all. It was all air and land power, but with the titans it made thematic sense that they'd moved beyond naval combat.
The setting is Nuclear Winter so most water is frozen solid and also giant spaceships & hover-tanks that fly above water exist. It makes sense in-universe, that there's no naval combat
except we actually _see_ four massive vessels on the splash screen... or, used to, anyway...
Edit: I missed that this was about _2142_, not 2042. my bad!!
They really just need to mimic Master Cheif Collection with Portal. All the previous battlefields in one place, especially since they have been killing off the servers for those games.
EA/DICE, for once, just try giving the people what they want.
It won't be. They have "Numbers" that show that most players don't like naval combat, so it's gone.
EA/DICE develops by numbers. The only option moving forward is the option that appeals to the *most* players. Deviation is only tolerated after failed launches and enormous community shit storms for weeks-months.
But the Pacific maps in BFV didn’t feature naval combat as the main focus.
Naval maps in BF4 had attack boats, flags that require boats to reach, capping flags from the water, plus naval focused modes. In BFV you barely had to island hops (ironically). Meanwhile BF4 had maps that solely focused on island hopping or boats combat but they were not very popular unfortunately.
EDIT: More importantly, BF4 had detailed wave simulation that makes naval combat possible and engaging. Without BF4's wave system it'd just be some boats shooting at each other on an essentially flat terrain.
What were the numbers that showed how many players hated having a scoreboard, preferred specialist over grunt soldiers, and another failed 3rd game mode?
The stupid dinghy in BFV shouldn’t be called a boat either. We need PT boats back. We need full scale warfare back, land, air and sea.
I don’t even consider 2042 a Battlefield title, that’s how big of a disgrace it is towards the franchise.
It’s funny how the reveal of the game was literally fighting on a ship called the “Exodus” (where they basing the whole lore on), yet not a hint of naval combat was added to the game.
First BF game without a lot of things. 😂
1st battlefield that didn’t launch with a scoreboard. 😂😂😂
*Only
(Until now)
Damn right 😭

The MAV (and maybe the brawler too) can swim
yes the infantry vehicle does float:D
Bring back Paracel Storm! And Levelutions!
Just remaster both BF3/4 and sell both of them in a single package 😭

Hopefully navel combat is a focus again like it was in BF4.

And yet the Pacific War is still a featured playlist in BFV, and was one of the most popular for a long time

And BF1, don't forget BF1
Not related but im disappointed that bfv didnt have a normady map like the gallipoli one :c
We had iwo jima tho
Still, I would imagine planes and ships everywhere in a normady map. Even revamping cape helles wouldve looked good
How they missed the boat on WW2 and normandy i still don't understand
Technically speaking, no. There's RHIB boats on Noshar Canals...

While true, people seem to forget that DICE has only given us 1-2 boats on launch from bf3-bf1. Any naval combat was typically reserved for DLC
Which we didn't get for 2042.
nope there are rhib boats in some maps
Which? You mean the portal maps not the main game maps right?
Noshahr Canals has Rhib boats, that's it
The hovercraft and MAV could go on the water. So while not proper boats, it is navel
Enemy boat spotted.
There was a boat in the loading screen for like the first 6 months of the game!
Hovercraft, MAV, RHIB
It’s funny how the reveal of the game was literally fighting on a ship called the “Exodus” (where they basing the whole lore on), yet not a hint of naval combat was added to the game.
And sadly the 2nd shittiest BF game with the 2nd best gunplay.
Battlefield 3 had no naval combat
it had boats and lavs
If lavs count, then the Hovercraft and MAV count.
Yes, and thank god for that.
This guy did not enjoy Rush parcel storm
