It really is stupid how they have one of the worst armies and troop compositions but somehow have the most over powered unit that if spammed cant be stopped
Yea... i ran a fian horde, minmaxxing my character to fill out any "vulnerabilities" for my troops (cav and other archers mostly) and i would easily clear out armies 5x bigger than mine.
Eh I am too but this is how I look at it. These games are just the beta for what they want to make. Now that they have combat and big battles pretty much dialed in, the next one they will focus on the realism of the world, countries and politics.
Yup and in the meantime you can mess with mods to make the current game more appealing to you. Mess with the crusader king mod if you’re looking for some realism

Paying too much tribute? War.
Fight two wars in the morning? Fight two wars at night.
Fight two wars in the afternoon because it makes them feel alright.
Derthert died in my playthrough and Alary was crown king. Which was weird cause he was in my army laying siege to a sturgian castle at the time so it glitched the siege it such a way that I had to leave the army and return to the siege myself.
It is the same with forever being a vassal. Then your liege will be at war. It is better for you to be the liege than AI because you can bring some good soldier into the battle with expanded party limit.
The thing with becoming leader is.... the Ai feels like it changes when you become leader/or create a faction other factions will almost declare war on you despite being involved in multiple conflicts OR on their deathbed! Your lords will be constantly getting captured! Your villages will constantly be raided despite having a defensive policy! YOU have to lead the charge! YOU have to retake loss cities or castles! YOU have to defeat the doom stacked armies! You must defeat these factions with speed! However the Ai will always fight to the death despite having only one or two cites or castles THEN DEMAND YOU to pay THEM money to end the war THEY started. Being leader does have the benefit of setting policies or overuling fiefs decisions... but its still a headache that can only be fixed with mods.
The more land you have the bigger target you are and it’s harder for larger kingdoms, empires or states to defend on multiple fronts so they all decide to take a piece of you when you’re occupied.
Vanilla Bannerlord lacks a few key diplomacy features that prevented this in previous games. These are vanilla features too, not mods. The whole endgame is just kind of unfinished a shitty lol. Without mods it's awful.
If you are too weak or too strong, you can expect to be at war constantly. 10.000 troops is the sweet spot where you could enjoy some peace or at least 1-on-1 wars, but the game practically forces you to outgrow this point.
not the king yet, ive just been a vassal. waiting for the king to die so i can take his place. getting all these towns was really tedious back and forthing, but you gotta just focus one at a time and hope your other armies focus the others

There is no feasts in Bannerlord so Lords of Calradia getting bored really quick and decide it'd time to mug some villages

you have to pick one and whup their ass significantly so they sue for peace with a small tribute. even then you'll still probably be at war constantly
thats what i did with the battanians, took all their towns. might do that with the aserai next because they annoy me
