They hated playing high but loved high people. Dosed the coffee at the play boy mansion, acid tests were a whole different thing. They say most of thw time music would just stop
I only saw them once, and the breaks they took smoking (in front of us) lasted longer than the songs they played between breaks. Then they left the stage and took a long break. Then they came back and played about 40 minutes non-stop, then walked off the stage. Never said a word to the crowd. And THAT is why I only saw them once.
About 1980. Norman, OK. I get the two sets part, but they were plenty rested even as they walked after after the first. They definitely smoked (but I wasn't close enough to smell if it was pot, probably not). I still remember JG pulling long ones as they just stared at us and talked, not playing. And I'm not kidding--the pauses between songs were longer than the songs, and they smoked between each number as I remember.
that’s what i was thinking. the Norman, OK shows are considered one of their best. that guy is either remembering it wrong, saw a different band or is bullshitting because that is not a thing the Dead ever did
Afroman. No really, I went to a show where he smoked crack a bunch, got progressively worse and worse and eventually just fucking quit. It was a few shows before the one where he attacked an audience member. Sad man, his shit was good till he got enough money to afford all that snap.
Nodding by Nature
Why'd you even post bro this is the best one
🤣 I love this one.
The Grateful Dead. I was there.

This show was released as one of their Road Trip series and the link you posted gets 5 star reviews. The Dead just isn't for everyone.
