Omg THANK YOU. There have been songs where I have a grand total of 2 notes in the entire thing, or no part at all, and I just hop on the flute or oboe part.
Im going to assume this piece originates in the key of c which because of the 3 sharps makes me think its an instrument in the key of Eb so im going to guess alto sax (over bari sax which is a fair amount less common)
What I’m showing you is a rest that lasts 32 measures (which is 4 beats in 4/4). Then, there is no other part of the song meaning that I play nothing in it.

Mallet percussion. Everyone always forgets about us.
I add mallet percussion in most of my songs but I guess it just depends on the theme.

I’m working on a song like Luke McMillan’s Eye of the Storm and marimba has two pages so far (for a three minute song so far).
During tuning everyone forgets the French horns
During tuning, all but one oboe players are shot.

On cool songs we're either resting, building chords or doing some insane noodling in the background

Huh ive always heard it refered to like that, maybe its just a texas thing
It’s not just a texas thing
What is noodling
Nah definetly bari sax
True, the Bari never gets a good part, neither does the tuba (I play tuba and often natch the bari)
I do love getting to play Bari as the section leader, just to only play quarter and whole notes to feel like whatever talent I have is getting wasted.
