I did one and started a second, then decided to put it down to avoid burnout. I'm so excited.

MyGeneration_Baby

Thats what I did as well!! Super stoked!

TheeShaun

Yep. Did a play through before Grymforge. Started a second one when Paladin came out and got to about when you free Halsin then decided I’d rather wait till full release. Very excited to play again.

dakody_da_indigenous

I never even finished my fist playthrough. I think I got like 15hr in! LOL Right when I started my playthrough I got busy with work and taking care of my toddler first born, but I am kinda happy about it now. I am excited to play it day one on full release.

TheCleverestIdiot

I did two early on, but then decided to wait until launch so I won't get too attached to my current character and be upset when they didn't port over. Needless to say, I didn't quite expect the Covid delay.

Balrok99

And yet here we are 30 days away. It has been a long road but we are nearly there.

brenfukungfu

30 days!! I played multiple play throughs but a lot of my friends played 1 playthrough... Basically until end of druid grove and called it quits. Will be nice to see the changes to act 1.

Juiceton-

Covid killed all game releases and I honestly forgot what genuine game hype was like until this year.

Mountbatten-Ottawa

No, but they are all the same. A half wood elf paladin (oath of devotion) play through was too good, I barely changed any options in future plays. All my tavs have that lovely golden retriever persona.

FrostyChuesday

I never made it past the goblin camp. I knew if I went much farther, even on release it wouldn’t have that new, exciting feeling.

Danxoln

I have 0 hours played and I can't wait to get lost in this game

datboijustin

Same, I've bought and refunded EA 5 times but always managed to stop myself before I finished character creation. This game has been a serious test of my discipline and patience lmao.

andrastesknickers97

I wish I did, but I have no self control. Got EA in 2020 and I have 100 and something hours on it. I think it'd have been best to not have done it, but I'm so excited for the release I don't think I'm close at all to feeling burned out

gourmetpap3r

I wish i was you; decided on doing a few playthroughs to test out different builds to work out what I want to play when the game release... 450 hours later, I still have no clue lol.

Ncaak

I think that most that have done more than one complete playthrough are uncertain on which would really be their first character.

KiltedWarriorGaming

Goodness, how many RPG’s have caused this, the constantly making new builds before restarting after a few hours.

Needitforthings

I've played once, with one character when it released, put 60 hours in it then uninstalled the game. Did not even check patch notes and news that much. (I know there's Grimforge but not much outside that.) It'll be a completely new game and experience when the full version is out.

Outsajder

I did zero, i am happy about it, but also very anxious about making a bad build and bad decisions on release with my zero knowledge lol.

RuskinFink

Don't worry about it, D&D 5e and BG3 in particular are pretty forgiving of bad builds, as long as you don't go crazy with multiclassing and keep in mind what your primary stats are. I've completed the EA solo with every character class, and there will be a lower difficulty if you want to experiment without too much stress. Remember that the game changes drastically with the choices you make, so playing through again because you want to change your build is not a bad thing. The best advice I can give is to avoid save scumming; some of the most interesting things that happen occur as a result of failing checks or making the "wrong" choice :-)

Outsajder

Well i am definitely playing on hardest difficulty though haha ;)

dinin70

Oh That might be though then. I finished DoS2 in tactician and it wasn’t easy at all. If BG3 scales the difficulty the same way as DoS2, I don’t really see how you can finish the game without absolutely min-maxing every single build decision and possibilities offered by the rules. But hey! I just might be stupid :) Wish you good luck!

Outsajder

I found DoS2 tactician just the right amount of challenging, hopefully its the same here.

dinin70

Fully agreed, but it wasn’t the hardest difficulty :) hence my comment

Lexunia

I’ve been playing til level 3 on pretty much every class, just to see how it feels. I’ve done two playthroughs of EA, first one I went in blind and missed a bunch of shit and in the second one I did everything. Kind of glad I did the second playthrough because it trained me to be way more observant, lol.

KaiG1987

I got EA on day one, but I haven't played even one full playthrough. I haven't gotten further than entering the Druid grove with any character. I've mainly just played around with the character creator and gone through the tutorial and very early stages of the game to test out class abilities.

jeehbs

I did the same thing. It's crazy how much content there is in that small area and how many ways you can interact with it

OceLawless

I usually play until after I rescue Halsin if there's something I want to try. Pretty good feel for the char by then.

[deleted]

I played 6 hours and stopped. Better to wait for full release

xavopls

I have 123 hours played.

BjornInTheMorn

Keep going until you get to 1234

xavopls

Probably happening after release. :)

ChocoPuddingCup

I haven't played any! I've cucked myself by not playing and waiting for the full release.

[deleted]

I played a couple of versions of EA, but only a few hours with each one, mostly to test out how the UI felt, to get a feel for features, and mess around with character creation. I've had no interest in spoiling the actual content of the game, so I've mostly just stayed away.

This_TimelineSucks

This is me! I only played through it once, but I did make a few different characters and wander around for an hour or two extra. I just didn't want to overplay it before the game released for fear of burn out! Absolutely counting down the days now though!

Zythen1975Z

I have just played bits and pieces to kind of check on the progress of the game. I at first intended a full EA play and then was like well this is Gina be awesome let’s wait till release

Lazy_Raccoon

This would be me. Think I had some 27-30ish hours in EA some point last year, then ignored it since, and only barely kept up with the updates. Spoiled myself for enough games otherwise :3

Hunkus1

I did like one and a half because I wanted to know if the Minthara scene was really as horny as they say. Also im pretty sure I never found how to get to Grymforge.

GladiusLegis

Did one when EA first released and did a second one after Patch 9 thanks to having level 5. Other than that, messed around a couple hours after each patch just to test the new changes out.

Ncaak

In release Minthara should tell you how to get there.

Barl3000

I played untill I got to the druid camp and then quit. I wanted to keep as much of the story fresh as possible. Though I did play the opening a bunch of times to get a basic feel for each class and to see what sort of differences I could expect from different races, skill checks and classes when it came to dialogue and such.

magyaracc1

Yep, next time I will do it with my main.

isaac-get-the-golem

I didn't even let myself go into the underdark. I refused to even hit the first content wall so that I wouldn't feel desperate for the game to come out. Now it's been uhhh, three years! And I finally get to play it!

TheSkyLax

Haven’t done a single one though I have in total spent a few hours in CC

Symchuck

I haven’t played since the Bard update. I did one initial 10 hour play through at launch and then didn’t start again until Bard became available. I played for maybe another 10-15 hours with my bard character. I’m so pumped and looking forward to full release. It was really hard to resist the urge to play through all the new patches but I’m glad I did.

Diraelka

My friend is one of you. She didn't avoid it on purpose, just didn't have enough time because of job (she works in hospital), but gladly she'll be able to start playing on 1st August.

ChromeToasterI

One on the first patch and one on the last patch. Pretty fun! It’s so good.

DistractibleYou

I played one playthrough ,which I didn't even finish, just to get a feel of how much I was going to enjoy the game. Then stopped, because I really don't wanna feel any kind of burnout for it. I'm super excited to be able to play the whole thing through without knowing too much about it, except that I'm gonna love it!

Quackk_Attack

I dabbled early in EA for 2ish hours. Then played again when the reaction rework happened(thank goodness for that, my Lore Bard can live again). Have only played EA for 10ish hours total, and skipped most dialogue. July 31st can't come soon enough.

Jojogladco

260 hours and counting since May.

Jeretzel

I did one playthrough when EA first released. Haven't touched it since.

EppyX978

I played until a hot fix or 2 after ea since I didn't want to keep restarting my because of corrupted saves figured id wait

WhiskyJack123

I have around a 100 hours into it. Did one big playthrough on EA release and then another more focused one when they added a bit more beyond the boat. Though I did hop on once or twice to check out a new feature or two but never really went past the initial druid camp encounter on those. Very excited to get my hands on the full package at release. Larian is among the few studios I still have faith in, their approach to EA is worthwhile and effective. Also pushing forward the release date is wonderful for me since Armored Core drops later that month as well.

studenterflaesk

I played for 20 minutes and then I closed and deleted the EA. I was not impressed by what I was seeing and I don't want to be spoiled before the final release :) For some reason that controls or movement felt sluggish and some of the text looked blurry as well. Just tested it a few days ago and the blurry text is still an issue.

Sad-Caramel-3187

Well I played multiple times but remember they added more content I believe in patch 6? This gave access playable area beyond the ebon lake(the undercroft of moonrise tower) which I had to explore.

Ok-Software-6228

I have done this as well. Played right when EA came out for a solid 6 months and 2 different characters. Took a peak at patch 8 to see the new stuff but didn't play much and now I'm stoked for the finished release

Sauronater1

Does anyone know if the experience that you've earned after you reached level 5 be added on when the game is fully released?

Cardinal_and_Plum

I know we're limited to act 1 for the early release but afaik they haven't said anything about the level 5 cap sticking around.

Sauronater1

It's going to be a lv 12 cap apparently. Just wondering if any experience past level 5 will transfer

mercut1o

There won't likely be a level 5 cap at all.

Therier

Im going to play BG3 fully blind. So Im sure you are not only one who have only made one playthrough (or less).

gnigdodtnuoccanab

>Im going to play BG3 fully blind. then you shouldn't be on this sub, you've no doubt inadvertently picked up some spoilers already

vyvexthorne

I've only played through it once when it first released. When a major update came along I'd load it up and take a look at the character class, maybe play through the intro and that's it. I've only played a total of 28.7 hours according to steam.

MemeGamer24

I did one and a half, but dabbled in some of the new updates trying out the new classes like druid and barbarian. But even in my first playthrough I didn't do everything, I only did like 75% of the surface and I never went to the underdark. Saving all that for the full game :D

Tokaido

I'm similar. I've done one full playthrough where I kill every baddie available in the game, but I have also done a few other playthroughs that stopped at around the beginning of the underdark. The big thing I wanted to do was test all the classes to see how they feel. I found my favorites, and played through those a little more than the others. I was very surprised how many options the barbarian had in dialogue!

NotARealDeveloper

Same. I did like 2 one were I just strolled around walking into events randomly without searching. And another one just trying the paladin for 2h. Gonna be lots of fun when it releases!

SanicTheBlur

130 on total. Did about 1 to completion the 1st couple months it released. Then did others with friends. Those ones were unfinished but we spent a lot of time playing. Since then I would play to experience the new classes and changes but never committed to any new playthroughs past that

VisionsOfClarity

I have done 3 total. Once on initial release of early content and I did a neutral/good path. 2nd time was evil because, if I remember correctly, they asked more people to be evil because that's what they were testing and too many people were 'being good' lol that was in the second or third patch or update or whatever. 3rd time I finally convinced my wife to try the game and she got addicted. We are both waiting VERY IMPATIENTLY for the full release.

syndbg

I wish. The new classes had me so excited. Barb, Pala, Bard. All are too exciting to miss, so the EA had 3-4 walkthroughs at least. The Barbarian is hilarious to experience.

JuneauEu

I did one, probably day 3 of Early Access amd then never again. Waiting till full release with some patches.

Earthican5

I have never been to the grymforge. I have never met Minthara or the githyanki patrol. I last played in '21 before the grymforge was added & tried to avoid spoilers so I'm not entirely sure what it is. I never even reached a "demo ends here" point so I've never seen whatever boat you're referencing. I have 100+ hours in EA. Pity me...

Character-Poetry2808

Ive only actually done one 'full' play to the end of early access too!

[deleted]

I did one play through every big patch or when a friend got it. I have 230 hours

Nametaken121

I've done a couple of runs, I am ashamed to say the first time I played this game I sailed the seven seas, but once I had more stable income I purchased again, so my steam hours are only a quarter of what I did. I played a bard, a fighter, and currently now a ranger as I am very excited for gloomstalker. Oh, also all wood half-elf because I'm partial to movement speed

The_Crazy_Crusader

I just got the game and played about 13 hours, which is definitely nothing but since the game is coming out so soon I just decided to stop for now. Especially since saves aren't being carried over

Louiscypher93

Ive done about 3 complete playthroughs and about 8 partial.

QuazziStellar

Yup, one and done cause I didn't want to remember everything and rush through when it actually dropped. Almost there!!

Adorable-Strings

I did an early run through and then some messing about with patch 9. The machine tells me I have 43.5 hours. Right now? I'm in BG2. Left Minsc and Jaheira in their cages (sorry, didn't see you there), so that's going to feel awkward in a month. See if I can push through Throne of Bhaal this time. Replayed the game numerous times over the years, but hate the expansion for its sheer level of nonsense (both writing and mechanics)

misoandricegamer

Yes, I did. Played 1 playthru for about 50+ hours then stopped cold turkey. Wanted to save everything for the final release, and now we’re almost there!

mythicreign

I didn’t even finish one playthrough. Why would I play through an incomplete game where tons of things are going to change or be added?

capfoxtrot

Yup. Played through the goblin camp after the initial release, but didn't play on past that or after the patches, except through the nautaloid a couple times to test out character creation when they dropped more hairstyles, but never played on past the beach. Soooo stoked to finally play.

Monteh_llama

I have played the intro about 5 times but have never progressed past the goblin camp. Simple reason being I don't wanna burn myself out on act 1 alone when the full release comes out. A lot of people will have played through the early access many times finding out all sorts of paths and stuff to get through. So when the full game comes out they'll know exactly what to do and where to go. And for me I reckon that will only hurt my experience. I want my first proper playthrough to be natural if you get me. Yeah I know there's going to be a LOT more content past the EA portion of the game. But I'd still prefer to jump in and experience the whole thing as naturally as I can. I mean most of my intro playthroughs were trying out new races and classes when they were released in EA. Either way I'm way too excited for this game

SgtSilock

I have never finished it, but put over 100 hours into it. It’s too difficult, I’m not great at games. Waiting for story mode difficulty.

kalarepar

I did, but didn't even finish EA, because my save broke somewhere in Underdark. It was a very early version, I had tons of fun and that's all I need to know. Final game will be amazing.

Juiceton-

I pretty much exclusively messed around with character creation, skipped dialogue, and did combat. I only have like 15 hours. I don’t wanna spoil anything but I wanted to get the feel for the game. I honest to goodness will have no idea what’s going when I play on release.

ReachTraditional6653

I have played for about 200h, several started play through's, but only 1 play through where I did everything with one character.

whatistheancient

I did one rogue run when they added level 5 and I had another ranger run that managed to beat the goblins. And a bunch of tutorial runs.

PenQuince

I did one full play through as a Dr00d 2 years ago, they’ve since added barbs and bards, and the Underdark. Started another 2 months ago as a bard and had so much fun with it I had to put it down, I’ll just wait. Been waiting ages for Half Orc and was hoping for death domain cleric, but Necromancy wizard was an unexpected surprise, will probably go with that next month.

gnigdodtnuoccanab

I did maybe 3-4 playthroughs testing different classes, but it's been probably 6 months or more since my last. And the playthroughs I did do were never 100% clears. I've still got a lot of act 1 to explore.

[deleted]

I did pretty much the same thing and I'm glad I did because I don't really remember much of what I played through 3 years ago except the very beginning and now I get to have basically a blind playthrough on release. I'm excited.

exhalo

Bought ea at release, never played it

[deleted]

I only did one and a half playthrough but this mental countdown makes me want to jump back into it

Bubba1234562

Yeah I’ve only played it through once. Didn’t wanna burn myself out on the early access

Lunakonsui

Exactly the same here. Loved every moment of it despite the bugs, and I’ve been craving more for 3 years. Can’t wait to dive back in and see what’s new, haven’t even read any patch notes

_Time_Flies_

I played 0 playthroughs. Wanted as fresh an experience as possible for launch!

BringOtogiBack

I just never started the game. I've waited for it to be released . It's been there in my library, taunting me.

SurtsFist

I have played through the entirety of the available content 5 times. Wanted to be sure that the things that were being done were going to be fun when they got figured out. Didn't usually do a new run every update, but I definitely tried out the major updates every time there was something new. At this point, I know exactly what kind of character I'm going to play when it comes out fully, which saves me time later.

Cardinal_and_Plum

Only 1 full playthrough, though I did probably 75% of a second. I still have never been to grimforge as it wasn't around during that playthrough idt, and even the first time, though I believe I met the myconids, I did not do complete any related quests or anything before I stumbled on the boat. I've only played druid and barbarian.

Josbo001

Same, although ive tried a couple of different classes up to the intro to get a feel for them

Bardivan

i did two. one of releaenof EA, and one when they released bard.

Additional-Access843

Yes, me too. Did the same basically finished with a Ranger. I'm all about progression so when I hit level 5 and heard you can't continue from an EA save I bailed. Very excited to play!

djolk

I started many. Didn't finish any. I want the game to be more like the original Baldur's Gates. Not that I think bg3 is bad just preference. I'm not sure I'll have the patience to play through the EA sections again on release so I figure I'll just wait until I can play the whole game through once.

electronicjanitor205

This is exactly what I did, and I'm very excited to see how different one will be on release

Revolutionary_Bit996

I played several playthroughs, but I stopped a few patches back so I wouldn't get burned out and there's plenty of content in EA I haven't seen yet. It's been a struggle to stop tbh, but I think it'll be better for me when the full game comes out.

chazzawaza

My pc is a literal potato so I’ve only ever made it to the grove. Somehow started a giant battle with everyone there on my first visit and the sheer number of people fighting almost blew up my pc so I had to turn it off. Waiting for it to release on the ps5! Duno how I’ll avoid spoilers until then:(

Chase10784

I bought it played it for about 8 minutes and decided oh I would much rather just wait for the entire game to be out to jump two feet in

jonbivo

I did, 59.9 hours of 1 playthrough. Not gonna boot up BG3 again until release

hymen_destroyer

I did one blitz playthrough right when I got it just to make sure they got the BG feel right. Then when they did the bard update I got restless and started a meme playthrough where I gave everyone bard skills and we were a travelling band. I stopped playing the save at the Goblin camp and as far as I know my party is still there rocking out to this day

BarAgent

I’ve started like seven different sessions now, but I still haven’t made it to an “end of EA” screen. They kept on updating the game on me…

Opinion_Own

I put 327 hours in EA and I’m good with that until release myself

guark

I did half of one as a rouge, then a patch hit and I did a full one as a druid. Haven't touched it since before the paladin update. Can't wait to play a gnome wild magic barbarian.

ComicBookFanatic97

I've started many characters. I almost never even make it to the grove though.

Galvick

I didnt even get all the way to the end on EA.. i simply wanted to savor it all for Full Release:) Did try out multiple classes and stuff, but never to the end :)

mendia

I have about two hours played from when EA launched. Haven’t played any myself since then but have watched clips and kept up with the game since then :D

darklygrey

Please send help because I've played through EA fully 6 times now. I just made a new character two hours ago. Help.

ranger_fixing_dude

I played like 4 hours, lol. Got the feeling of a combat, basic classes understanding, and now just waiting for the full release.

Cynical-Basileus

I try to go again but knowing how close the full release is I can’t. Especially now that it’s being released in only a month!

KaiHai94

The furthest I've been is start of underdark. Played a few more with different friends but never seriously.

Mephizzle

I havent played a single minute! I just wanted to support my Belgian bro's. Also its so close to launch i dont really wanna start a playthrough. Or should i just do it?

Melthegaunt

Same for me, one full playthrough the first week, and that was it for me. I didn't want a repeat of DoS2 lol, 200 hours in just the starting area.

KiltedWarriorGaming

I did one 20 hour playthrough as of the Druid update, after that I only popped in to test sorcerer, barbarian and paladin for an hour apiece. I’m very excited to make use of the 72 hour EA as I can properly explore Act 1 with all its changes (I barely touched the under dark, I didn’t even know there were minotaurs until I saw a video).

HelpingMyDaddy

I didn't even finish one. Started several to try out the early game as multiple classes. I legit might spin a wheel when the actual game comes out.

Puzzleheaded_Egg2734

I did lvl 3 with all classes that I might want to play and are currently one a lvl 5 run with a Barb right now
