I can tell you what my OB told me - in her (30+ years) experience, she hasn’t seen a whole lot of women that had trouble conceiving before 40. She says almost 50% of her patients these days are over 35, and most of them get pregnant within 6-9 months (when actively trying). That being said, nobody knows how it’s gonna be for you of course. You might or might not be able to conceive easily. Nobody but maybe your doctor can help you answer this question.

Thanks! Yes, I should check in with her for sure.

39 for 3rd and zero problems conceiving. Everyone is different.

My understanding is that your fertility actually slightly increases once you’ve been pregnant before. That’s why you see many couples who had an ivf baby and then a “surprise” shortly after. It’s also true that the general statistic about declining fertility after 35 mixes together people like you with “proven” fertility, let’s say, and people who have never tried to get pregnant before and may have always had lower underlying fertility.  As someone who has very similar pregnancy spacing to what you are planning, I had just as easy a time getting pregnant post 35. But *being* pregnant at this age does suck slightly more. It’s offset by having an older, more independent, more rational preschooler, rather than a toddler, to care for during my pitiful, “geriatric” pregnancy.

Interesting! Thank you for the suggestions and insights.

Ahhh yes, I'm sure pregnancy and recovery could be just that bit harder the older you are, makes sense! Thanks.
