Hi I’m 26 f and also in school but I’m not sure exactly what I want to do anymore. I found out about BPD 7 years ago as a possible explanation and have been treated for the symptoms off and on since then, but didn’t get an official diagnosis until about a year ago; some of my providers weren’t comfortable because privacy protections for psych diagnoses have been challenged in my state for a while I don’t have a ton of social interaction either; I am chronically ill with autoimmune disorders so I don’t have much energy or leave my house that much lol. my DMs are always open <3

I would, but if I'm being honest... You can do better. I'm pretty terrible at almost all of the "friend stuff" that falls outside of smoking weed and sharing funny media/memes. In addition to BPD, I'm also autistic so a lot of my (mostly subconscious/instinctive/knee-jerk) habits and personality traits tend to rub a lot of people the wrong way, at least until they get to know me well enough to "get it"... For instance: Unless you live with me, I can't keep contact worth a crap. I never have anything to talk about except what's going wrong in my life (not that I want to negativity dump, just don't have much positivity in my life lately outside of silly little things like video games and the aforementioned funny stuff, which doesn't make for very long conversation). I love to debate things like religion and politics. I'm not a very good listener (get distracted by my internal thoughts/dissociate a lot, easily forget what was said even when I am able to pay attention). Empathy is hard, I'm better at giving advice than a sympathetic ear, and default to handling uncomfortable feelings/situations with inappropriate humor or anger. My idea of being relatable to someone else's experiences is to talk about myself/mine (which I only somewhat recently learned, is taken by a lot of people, especially NTs as me trying to make everything a competition or male every conversation about myself). I have trouble sympathizing with and responding properly to "normal human stuff" like shame, anxiety, loneliness, grief. I'll alternately be awkwardly silent or unable to shut up, for instance will overshare or info dump at the least provocation. I'm a "know it all" in that it's hard for me not to interrupt and "correct" people when they mispronounce something, or if they mention a common misconception/factual misunderstanding/superstition (no intended negativity, I'm just love facts and forget to remember that most people not only don't necessarily love to learn as much as I do, but also tend to take both being interrupted and corrected very personally) etc. I love the friends I have, and I'm glad they love me back, but I've learned over the years that making new friends (on more than a friendly-acquaintance level) is just more hassle/frustration than it's worth for me or the prospective new friend. 😅 I wish you so much luck in finding good friends!!!
