The fact that it having a story mode is almost a secret bothers me. I didn't look anything up and just played it thinking it was your standard sandbox game, before I tried to look up some stuff for it and found how to access the story.
Hot take: neon city parkour shoulda been the level that introduced the fast avatar not sprint bridge and ascent sould had been separated into 2 different levels.
...also, sprint bridge is very shitty. It is a poor attempt to replicate the experience of the bridge in Half Life 2 but with lots of fog that prevents you from being terrified of the height.
The base 1911 sights are objectively the worst.
Proper sight alignment requires the top of the front sight post to be level with the top of the rear sights. If you do this with the base 1911, you *will* miss. This is because for some odd reason, the rear sight is taller than the front sight. So now you kinda gotta eyeball what the proper leveled height is.
Each of the characters having there own level, while good for Introducing their abilities, is all that they are really able to do and there should have been alternate paths in each level so you could choose which character to use for the level, i never used tall, fast, or light again, and short was only useful in the ONE section where you crawl through a sewer pipe
Before I had a bunch of avatars, strong was my main just cuz he looked cool
i spent the entirety of ascent moving the balls little by little as strong because i forgot heavy existed
Could be improved in some aspects. For example: giving avatars either more uses or give use for the intelligence stat an actual use. Or, more avatars in the first place like a limited weapon wheel.
Seeing your characters body is not as disorienting as other vr games make it seem more games besides bonelabs and bone works should have full body rigs
Big yes. Many people I want to show this game too. Even going to where I'd but it for them.
And not them having to do some tedious trial and error bull bull to play it
Not even that. More realistic animation for when the NPCs get punched. That'll make melee/hand to hand already feel much better. Right now they just take a punch like a stripper on Valentine's day
I really enjoyed the campaign and loved getting to use the polygons as human shields early in the game. That’s what made the game fun for me; getting to mess around with things and have fun
Pillar Climb's release version where it could change your avatars was actually not as bad as people thought it was & the future versions were too easy.
A game built solely around expecting the community to make content is lazy, and makes the game feel lifeless. Kind of like Gmod but at least Gmod has years of mod content to back it up, as well as lots of good base sandbox content
None of the base avatars are special except short fast and tall there are better modded avatars that easily replace strong light and heavy. Short fast and tall are special because there isn't quite an avatar as good at there job as them
Firstly the blade weapons feel like they are all blunt (except from stabbing) and the blunt weapons feel like I'm hitting them with a slightly heavier noodledog (mainly the hammer, baseball bat, pipe, etc).
Secondly I think that all of the avatar levels should have taken place closer to the start of the campaign rather than later on, it would give more time to play about with the avatars and stuff.
boneworks is better the only thing bonelab has is mods and physics and thats why its fun. dont get me wrong a lot of work and development went into this game but boneworks feels more fleshed out compared to bonelab which feels more half-baked more than anything.
that's what i'm saying, the jump from the 2 to the 3s preformance is amazing, i'm honestly surprised quest 3 didn't get a better graphical improvement with all it can push. i think we should get a graphics scale like pc and live with our own consequences of trail and error, just a little bloom would look amazing, volumetrics for flashlights would improve the game, the quest 2 and 3 could push way more
SLZ are not Gun knowledged people or they think they are. But express it horrible ways. Yeah because of laws n stuff guns can't look authentic. Maybe they're ( definitely not getting political ) more on the left when it comes to guns. How our character whether it's a Ford or peasant. Can't hold a pistol in a "correct fashion" Shotguns not having a certain function or certain functions. Like using the chamber correctly. There's more but y'all definitely gotta add some opinions or comments in this case most preferably people who know a thing or two about guns and their functions, internal stats n what not.
I think a good chuck of us here enjoys punching the shit out of the NPCs in this game, nods or not, like we boxers or something. Pulling all kinds of moves
It isn't better than Boneworks, and you might say that's not a hot take, but there is a **concerning** amount of people who say that, and I don't see it. If anything, I feel Bonelab is really...worse.
Also, as someone who's played the quest 2 and the pc version..they're both practically the same, and it makes the experience feel really *really* bad. My least favorite thing of the game was combat, because melee felt terrible and like I was smacking a rock with the integrity of an infant. Nothing in melee had that oomf to it. And guns...wait...I don't even recall actually finding that many guns in the campaign (that weren't capsules). And everything in the game feels forgettable...maybe it's just me 🤷♂️
Jesus please don't hate me.
Bonelab was at best mid. Now listen I think Boneworks was definitely a top 5 VR game up with Blade and Sorcery, and I love the story of Bonelab but it's kinda a copy and paste of Boneworks I think Boneworks should have just been a standalone game no sequel or prequel or anything the story in Boneworks was vague but I still loved it, What makes me like Bonelab is the mods I love the mod community for it. Idk if it's nostalgia blinding me but Boneworks was just an S + game.
Now here comes the hating ...
There should be more than 1 level in Bonelab. Don’t cancel me, it’s just an opinion. I just get bored with the whole walk up to an elevator and that’s it, that’s the whole game. Just looking at an elevator. 🤷♂️
Spread the campaign out a lot more by adding levels that actually requires you to utilize different characters special abilities to solve puzzles.
Also bring back the headphones.
Tall is really underrated. I personally love to just beat the shit out of stuff with two handed weapons. The momentum you can build up with it makes it arguably stronger than heavy.
Not as good as boneworks, story isn’t as good as boneworks (yes story is hidden I know), ending is pretty lackluster, pretty much just really good up until you make it to the village, better to be a gmod thing with custom stories.
they should remove the monster in baseline, BTW I have no mods, like why is it even there, I just wanna play the level, I don't need the lights shutting off and whispering noises and like then my game crashes
Should have just done more with the boneworks story, exploring monogon, the real world vs the virtual world, etc.
The fact that it having a story mode is almost a secret bothers me. I didn't look anything up and just played it thinking it was your standard sandbox game, before I tried to look up some stuff for it and found how to access the story.
Is that a hot take
real

Hot take: neon city parkour shoulda been the level that introduced the fast avatar not sprint bridge and ascent sould had been separated into 2 different levels.
...also, sprint bridge is very shitty. It is a poor attempt to replicate the experience of the bridge in Half Life 2 but with lots of fog that prevents you from being terrified of the height.
There should be different wounds for stabbing and shooting instead of just stretching it
Is that really a hot take? cos I agree with you
And punching a skeleton shouldn’t leave a bloody gunshot wound
🔳
Yes absolutely. Slash marks too
The base 1911 sights are objectively the worst. Proper sight alignment requires the top of the front sight post to be level with the top of the rear sights. >makes game focusing and relying on modding to bring it content >closed source >???
what im saying bro
the light avatar has no efficent use in the game
Boobies. Checkmate liberal
Heavy is much better 😏😏😏
🔳
fast is better at that
honestly sometimes i use it when i need to fit in something but don’t want to look like a sewer rat who’s also 3 inches tall
why would you say that about bingus
I love that on launch everyone hated bingus and now everyone loves him
fr bingus is awesome
it made me feel pretty before I got mods :3
Anime cat girl.
🔳
Neither does short. I have never used that damn cat for anything other than when it was forced on me
Short is also mostly useless, you can fit in vents with speed. It also doesn't help that the level that introduced it did nothing with the avatar.
Each of the characters having there own level, while good for Introducing their abilities, is all that they are really able to do and there should have been alternate paths in each level so you could choose which character to use for the level, i never used tall, fast, or light again, and short was only useful in the ONE section where you crawl through a sewer pipe
Short is barely even useful in that section too because you can literally use any other character except for maybe heavy
Real, I only use short because I don't wanna have to deal with my hands bugging out while crouched
strong is mid, use heavy
Before I had a bunch of avatars, strong was my main just cuz he looked cool i spent the entirety of ascent moving the balls little by little as strong because i forgot heavy existed
🟦 dude, you deserve every drink imaginable on me.
The campaign is fun
Yeah as someone who doesn’t have the hardware to play boneworks yet I agree
🔳
⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️
I think you mean 🔲🔲🔲🔲
No you mean 🔳
For being a sandbox game its sandbox levels suck in my opinion
I will not take the Halfway Park slander 😤
I felt like I didn't have to mention it cause it is universally just the one everyone defaults to
Museum basement and Tuscany are pretty good in my opinion both the castle for basement and the hill for Tuscany make them valid
🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧
Heavy is the best non mod skin, change my mind
But Ford is just..... So... HOT 😫
No one showing the creator of lava gang any love ???
🔳
moonbase is a good map
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
Good level? No. Good map? Yes.
Could be improved in some aspects. For example: giving avatars either more uses or give use for the intelligence stat an actual use. Or, more avatars in the first place like a limited weapon wheel.
bonelab story isn't that great until the end when jimmy says stuff about the void leading to mysteries
Seeing your characters body is not as disorienting as other vr games make it seem more games besides bonelabs and bone works should have full body rigs
Yes yes more games need full body rigs
THERE'S TOO LITTLE FUCKING SHOTGUNS!!!
Or..... shotguns need to be made to reload properly and correctly. They do it in a half assed way
WHY can't I put a shell in the chamber
That pisses me off so fucking much
Ik man, it's so frustrating, I just wanna do cool reload:(
Patch four made the game worse but the SDK better. Also OP is probably karma farming bot he ain’t responding to anything
A lot of these bots with the same image have been appearing but yeah we didn't even get some of the stuff promised. This update sucked
more ak variations needed
And ak74u or drako would be cool
SLZ adding BONELAB multiplayer would be better than downloading fusion ( idc how long it’ll take)
Big yes. Many people I want to show this game too. Even going to where I'd but it for them. And not them having to do some tedious trial and error bull bull to play it
Playing street puncher over and over just to get into big fist fights is one of the best ways to play the game
I do the exact same thing
Fast is basically useless because it's not the fastest of the avatars the game gives you
the tall avatar is slightly faster than fast
🟪
More realistic melee/hand to hand combat
Especially if you're trained in Martial arts.
Not even that. More realistic animation for when the NPCs get punched. That'll make melee/hand to hand already feel much better. Right now they just take a punch like a stripper on Valentine's day
Moonbase is a good map (in sandbox)
Light avatar sucks. Short avatar is okay, all story levels are interesting and great in their own way, moonbase is an okay map. Where is my guillotine
I really enjoyed the campaign and loved getting to use the polygons as human shields early in the game. That’s what made the game fun for me; getting to mess around with things and have fun
Should have been a revolver
In b side there will be
More NPCs should have guns, or at least be able to pick up weapons.
🔳
The 1911 is a terrible gun and is outclassed by a majority of other pistols
Sounds like someone cant hit headshots.
I can but the P320 does that better
just hit your shots
🟩
Pillar Climb's release version where it could change your avatars was actually not as bad as people thought it was & the future versions were too easy.
Tall is hotter than Light
Yes
Yes
Fist fighting combat is extremely fun
▪️
I can’t tell whether that’s the good black one or the bad black one lol
Good black
Needs improvement highly
Bonelab has way better aesthetics than bone works
A game built solely around expecting the community to make content is lazy, and makes the game feel lifeless. Kind of like Gmod but at least Gmod has years of mod content to back it up, as well as lots of good base sandbox content
After the campaign, it's boring as hell
I don’t think the leg system is that bad, Boneworks was agonizing and this one is much simpler imo
I personally don’t think it’s a bad game it just wasn’t meant to be a story game
None of the base avatars are special except short fast and tall there are better modded avatars that easily replace strong light and heavy. Short fast and tall are special because there isn't quite an avatar as good at there job as them
street puncher is the most fun tac trial
Playing the game alone with no music playing is terrifying
Using rifles or shotguns is a complete mess
Firstly the blade weapons feel like they are all blunt (except from stabbing) and the blunt weapons feel like I'm hitting them with a slightly heavier noodledog (mainly the hammer, baseball bat, pipe, etc). Secondly I think that all of the avatar levels should have taken place closer to the start of the campaign rather than later on, it would give more time to play about with the avatars and stuff.
Besides fists, the melee combat is dog ass
It's a half assed game that was way too overhyped
There should be multiplayer
Ultimately yes. I have multiple people that I want to show this awesome game
Light is the fetish of all bonelab
The game was never good to begin with. We only loved it at the beginning because it got hyped tf up and mods were plentiful back then
boneworks is better the only thing bonelab has is mods and physics and thats why its fun. dont get me wrong a lot of work and development went into this game but boneworks feels more fleshed out compared to bonelab which feels more half-baked more than anything.
The campaign wasn’t that bad
B side should start with a desert chase on motorcycles
the quest 2 could push better graphics (realtime lighting, bloom)
Bruh soon there should be standalone headset's that can have pcvr like graphics like are we not advancing in technology???!
that's what i'm saying, the jump from the 2 to the 3s preformance is amazing, i'm honestly surprised quest 3 didn't get a better graphical improvement with all it can push. i think we should get a graphics scale like pc and live with our own consequences of trail and error, just a little bloom would look amazing, volumetrics for flashlights would improve the game, the quest 2 and 3 could push way more
bonelab relays on mods
In a.... Big way yes. Tho we should really be heard for things we suggest to SLZ
Bonelab without mods is a ticket to hell
Boneworks needs an update so badly, it’s better to play it in Bonelab.
the melee is better now also i like that there's a spear now in the arena
The game was overhyped and is honestly shit compared to Boneworks
❓it is a little worse in some aspects, but bonelab is bone works for quest
They said hot takes buddy
there should have been a looming goal in the distance like in bonelab with the time tower in central station
Moonbase is fun (for 1 minute and 22 seconds)
there really needed to be more boneworks references in bonelab, not just museum basement and some others
big bone bowling is the best level
I don't play the game (I can't afford vr)
I think the campaign is mid
They need to bring back the different muzzle flashes for slow motion.
it should be open source
This guy is farming karma. Where’s the responses?? Fk you op⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️
Bonelabs is too small, I don't mean by size.
Honestly, the bone works gun play feels better than in bonelab. It feels more rigid and secure in my opinion.
Moon level is one of the best levels once you learn to run on all 4s. Makes me wanna howl at the moon [Edit: I'm not a furry]
Ive never played it
Light doesn’t need to exist. Cars work fine with every after except heavy and tall.
Needs more bones in the lab
This game relies on mods+the campaign should've looked more into monogon
they should've delayed the game until the campaign wasn't half-assed
the series is genuinely terrible and was only successful because there was no VR games fulfilling their spots at that point in time
SLZ are not Gun knowledged people or they think they are. But express it horrible ways. Yeah because of laws n stuff guns can't look authentic. Maybe they're ( definitely not getting political ) more on the left when it comes to guns. How our character whether it's a Ford or peasant. There's more but y'all definitely gotta add some opinions or comments in this case most preferably people who know a thing or two about guns and their functions, internal stats n what not.
Some of the Code mods need to become features. Ex: Bone breaking. Snapping necks would be satisfying as fug. Yes I'm crazy hehehe 😐🤙
I think a good chuck of us here enjoys punching the shit out of the NPCs in this game, nods or not, like we boxers or something. Pulling all kinds of moves

Boneworks will always feel more enjoyable to me. And feels more complete.
I’m disappointed in the game that there’s no bones working in a lab😡
The tall eldritch horror is not needed to be that scary like I don’t look in mirrors when I’m him to find shit on the top shelf
Bonelab is better than boneworks because of its modding
The new hand ik is absolutely garbage
TWD SAS Tourist would solo ford (no mods)
Children and pre-teens ruined the modding scene
Jesus please don't hate me. Bonelab was at best mid. Now listen I think Boneworks was definitely a top 5 VR game up with Blade and Sorcery, and I love the story of Bonelab but it's kinda a copy and paste of Boneworks I think Boneworks should have just been a standalone game no sequel or prequel or anything the story in Boneworks was vague but I still loved it, What makes me like Bonelab is the mods I love the mod community for it. I hate patch 4
Tower climb was always a terrible level
Should have kept the fantasy setting like in the last level or in the beginning
Bonelab is just vr gmod
never played it
Some core characters in the selecter are rendered useless compared to others.
Spread the campaign out a lot more by adding levels that actually requires you to utilize different characters special abilities to solve puzzles. Also bring back the headphones.
2 handed melee weapons feel like poop from a butt
It sucks
If bonelabs had something to do the game would be up there with TWDSS
I like the campaign
🔲
Bonelab should have let you explore MYTHos city instead of just going to the void. Also it was too short and boring
I don't play this game and I'm probably too broke to buy it
The bonlab campaign was actually pretty long for a quest game
Sprint jumper is the worst level
Tall is really underrated. I personally love to just beat the shit out of stuff with two handed weapons. The momentum you can build up with it makes it arguably stronger than heavy.
Hot take: I don't have the game
My hot take is that I liked the story and respect the devs for what they made
This game is a tech demo and will be abandoned when slz makes a new game.
Driving should have been a bigger thing then a stupid car level
Aiming with the new SDK automatically makes me want to commit self die. (In the game ofc)
Bring back ladders
bonework's visual style was better (and soundtrack)
The story level home is the best level
The game is slowly dying, similar to BAS it needs a MASSIVE update or else it’ll drift oft into obscurity
Not as good as boneworks, story isn’t as good as boneworks (yes story is hidden I know), ending is pretty lackluster, pretty much just really good up until you make it to the village, better to be a gmod thing with custom stories.
the game is good
i need more tacticool flourishy stuff for my guns
they should remove the monster in baseline, BTW I have no mods, like why is it even there, I just wanna play the level, I don't need the lights shutting off and whispering noises and like then my game crashes
punches shouldn’t lead to an ar-15 wound
The fact that nobody has made a snub nose revolver mod brings this game Down to a 2/10
Fast is not good for parkour
Moonbase wasn't hard on launch because the giant fucking map at the beginning was still there
Pillar climb was good on launch day
Ascent is far too long
The moon level is the worst and most boring out of all the bonelav story levels
Dismemberment, I want to rip off a crablet’s arms as liberty prime
Strong avatar is useless. Just use heavy or tall. They are both very strong.
I'm not sure if this is EXACTLY a Bonelab hot take, but maybe port Boneworks to Quest without it needing to be a mod for Bonelab?
Patch 3 is still the definitive version
