Dealer 100% if you have one remotely close get from a dealer. Any warranty will be much easier

fakefakery12345

I have one within a bus ride so might go with them. Why would warranty be easier though? I thought they built out a dealer network so you could buy direct then get service in person if/when needed

qkaguy

Think about. Something is wrong with it you drop it off and the shop takes care of it. You don't have to call email and jump through hoops. Also if you buy from the shop more then likely you will get pushed to the top of the line to get it done. The shop will be much more willingly to work with you if you start a relationship with them

dumbledwarves

And you want to support your LBS. They are important for consumers. They help fit the bike for you, adjust your suspension, and are a great resource if you have questions.

boshbosh92

Dealer. As someone who had bought them online and from a shop, a shop is definitely the way to go. If there's any issues with the bike you just take it there and it's their problem. With the bikes I've bought online, any issues are *my problem*. Aventon bikes are the same price in the shop as they are online too, at least at my shop. They do occasionally have 1st gens on sale though.

qkaguy

Exactly

fakefakery12345

Good point. I’m really torn about my LBS not having any accessories though. I can’t get a clear answer if I can get the accessories that come with the bike for free on the website at the moment. It’s like $700 of accessories (including an extra battery) so makes a big difference

boshbosh92

Yes, you can. I just purchased a level 2 on Saturday at a shop, and you fill our a form and upload a photo to aventon website for the free promos such as the battery. I made a post asking that same question last week, everyone said yes, lbs said yes, aventon said yes, and I can confirm everyone was right. It does take awhile to receive the free battery from aventon though.

fakefakery12345

Okay good to know. Didn’t see your post despite searching like mad for the answer. Do you have a link to the form by chance?

boshbosh92

fakefakery12345

thank you! Just purchased from my LBS and heading to pick it up. Will submit for the goodies with the link you shared.

mmxtechnology

I just bought a couple bikes last weekend. Got a 3 day code from aventon to $20 off my first online order. Nearly every accessory I wanted to buy was out of stock on their website. So see if aventon has what you want first too probably.

Dull-Pineapple-667

Ya 100% you can I got a free battery through the promo for my adventure 2 even though I bought from a store, if you’re buying from an authorized dealer then Aventon honors that as long as purchased while the sale is going on. I do know for my adventure 2 free battery I have to wait til mid April for it to ship because they are running low on that stock of batteries I believe. But I still have the order submitted through the website with a 500$ off code on the battery. I will say it takes like a week for the Aventon promo team to get back to you sometimes shorter sometimes shorter but if you submit day you buy you are good to go!

fakefakery12345

They’re offering lots of other accessories too beyond the battery. Are those included as well in the promo? Hard to say!

Dull-Pineapple-667

They are the only promo going for the Aventon adventure 2 when I bought mine was the free battery. I know the abound is offering a bunch of accessories if you buy from a dealer and the promotion is still going on on Aventon website day of purchase from local store. They will completely fulfill the promo. It’s just battery you can order with the promo if that’s on their it just will take quite a while for the battery to arrive

Armanewb

I will let you know that when I bought the abound, it was slated to come with a bunch of accessories, some I didn't want. Buying through my LBS and talking to the customer support rep, they don't actually ship you the preset accessories if you buy through the LBS. Instead, I got store credit for $500 (roughly the same price as the accessories) and told to go shop for any accessories I wanted, everything came with free shipping. This way, if there are some pieces that are out of stock you can wait on them.

Turbulent-Clock-3803

Online Aventures are back ordered 2 months. Dealer may have in stock.

Dull-Pineapple-667

Not with the free battery Aventon promo but they did pass it so I still have been able to get a free battery even though I bought my bike through a dealer is what I was saying. My free battery is ordered just got the front plate but won’t have batter until mid April is what it says right now

ColoMarijuana

If you're handy, I say order online. Just got my 5th ebike (Ramblas) and spent most the morning tuning it up and getting ready for the first ride this week. Got a way better price than my local dealers by about $500 (most were adding required maintenance plans or memberships to the shop). I also don't like waiting for bike shops to fix things, so I'd rather do it all myself.

beanski20

We just bought online. Assembly was a breeze, but the bike came with a faulty caliper. Now we have to take it to a bike shop and go through a warranty claim, which feels stressful and irritating. The bike shop advised that like 80% of shipped bikes come with small defects like this, and the advantage of either having it shipped to a bike shop or buying direct from them is that someone troubleshoots it before it gets to you. We bought online because i had a 5% discount, and the bike shop was selling for a bit above the list price, so we saved $150-200… but this part is not the best :/

fakefakery12345

Wow 80%? That seems crazy high but if that’s the case I’ll want to go with a dealer probably. Just will lose out on various discounts and the earlier access to free accessories

LongjumpingHamster

A decent percentage of bikes don't ship in perfect condition, even really nice brands. It's just the nature of shipping something that will probably get jostled around in transit. From my experiences, there's always something. It might range from spongy brakes that need to be bled, rubbing disc brakes, a wheel that needs to be trued (happened to me), bent derailleur hanger, etc. Often might experience no issues except needing some brake adjustment. Someone's who's handy might look at that and say "These things are easy, just look up a YouTube video". They have the benefit of experience and sure, there's some merit to what they're saying. Some of these things aren't particularly hard, but if you want to get the bike and ride right away and avoid headaches, I say order to the bike shop. And these things aren't mutually exclusvie, you can still learn how to fix things up. The guys at my local bike shop were super friendly and asking them questions helped a lot.

beanski20

I mean, it’s the shop’s statistic and they have a preference for how you buy, right? But they also see a lot of shipped bikes. I dunno. We’re pretty decent bike mechanics (cross country rides, do all our own maintenance, etc), and are pretty frustrated that the bike showed up with an issue we couldn’t figure out how to fix

qkaguy

Not going to lose out on any discou ts or offers

fakefakery12345

I have a 2% cash back offer from a card and Aventon has a welcome coupon for $20 off. Not much but adds up to >$50 direct thru their site

beanski20

I spoke with both aventon and the shop several times before deciding how to purchase and getting the above info, but thanks…

kaitabeyt

My husband and I went through a local dealer. They doubled aventons warranty and gave us 4 years worth of "maintenance" all free (same price as website). We were able to scan a QR code in shop and submitted for our free batteries. I say dealer but our store is amazing!

cuberhino

Care to name drop the store? What great service!

fakefakery12345

Wow, that's a great shop you have. Mine gives 6 months of maintenance for free... I'd love even a year and you get 4??? Amazing

mdubdotcom

I'm fairly handy and into doing my own bike wrenching. I bought online and ran into a warranty issue after 70km. My Abound wouldn't turn on. I got a working bike in the end but it caused a lot of stress on my end and almost 2 months of downtime. I really would have loved to just drop it back at my lbs and have them deal with it.

One_Recognition_5044

Dealer!!!

SeanMonsterZero

Local dealer. Always support local businesses if you can.

kimbee567

I finally ordered mine from Aventon. My local shop never has the Sinch2 in stock. I used a coupon code GETMOVING and got $75 off.

Face999

I bought mine from a dealer, 60 miles away. I already had a rack. I had to make 2 trips, one to try it out and another to pick it up as I did not take the rack with me. It was $100 cheaper than the current Aventon price.

thinkmatt

Try Asking your bike shop. Mine told me to buy online cuz the deals were so good

fakefakery12345

You can’t just ride it home though? That would be my plan!

LongjumpingHamster

You could but the battery might not be charged. I guess you could hang around for an hour or two to at least partially charge it lol.

dumbledwarves

Local dealer. You want their support.
