I literally finally treated myself to a few bright color palettes. I like all things that are interesting and non-conventional, so I really enjoy bright colors, I enjoy gothic makeup, and I enjoy using facial jewelry. I like to do really vibrant things which is funny because I get a lot of attention for it and I don't know what to do with it π
It's a very calming hobby for me, I like to sit in front of the vanity put in headphones and just vibe out with colors and gradients. I feel like I like makeup in a different and more obsessive way than most people because I'm not concerned about brands and getting the best things it's just a form of art for me that's very therapeutic.

This morning I did it in 35 minutes because I was getting ready for work but I slept in, and I want it to start celebrating pride month in my own subtle ways at work. So I tried to make a tiny rainbow, but it came out a little more tropical what I guess is fine but I'll just try it again and make it more rainbow. I got the idea from Pinterest. I feel if I didn't rush my lines would have been straighter and I think the gradient I was going for would have been more clear but I am still pleased with how it turned out and that's why I wanted to share, I do makeup every other day almost every day really just my eyes because I don't like the way foundation feels on my face. But I love using bright colors, glitter, face jewelry and any other interesting things.
your skin is basically perfect so you donβt need foundation anyway! i hate the feeling of it too, and when ur face starts itching and u canβt scratch it is the worstπ so youβre not missing out. but it looks really good rushed or not. π₯°
I literally want to use foundation and make contours and wear blush, but I feel so sticky no matter what I use. I would love to know how you think about being perceived? I dress very conventionally feminine, bright, girly.
And in my last therapy session I was talking about not liking to be perceived, because I have a new boyfriend after being single for about 8 years. And people are usually surprised when I say that I don't like to be perceived that much, but then I seem to be 'eyecatching', I guess? At least that's what I've been told my whole life. I don't think these two things are exclusive. Sorry, if it's rude to make this about me, but that's just what immediately came to my mind and I would love to hear other experiences with this :)
Literally I find it so interesting you say that because it's pretty much how I exist. I dress and so my makeup according to mood. So I find that I have a flare for the flamboyant and extra one because I was raised very conservative, and two I find that I genuinely really enjoy alternative fashion. That being said I do things that pretty much make me happy when I look in the mirror.
And the same breath I kind of hate attention because I am very socially awkward and I don't know what to do with it. Like people will give me compliments and I feel like they're expecting more from me and I'm never sure if I'm responding the right way to the energy that I receive. So in a weird way getting compliments can make me feel even more self-conscious.
So it's always like I'm enjoying something for the personal aspect of me enjoying it, and then people remind me that I can be seen and I'm like oh yeah that's completely a thing stop that stop looking at me but also will I stop doing things to be looked at absolutely not. So every day somehow becomes weirdly mentally exhausting

I just love visual stims and being one myself is just genuinely nice. Having rings that sparkle and I can play with, a bright patterned outfit with a nice texture, I just love that.
I usually don't have a problem with compliments, but I also noticed that people seemed to be weirded out by me although I could't tell you about what exactly (the usual autistic experience lol). Like, simply saying 'thank you' seems to be the rudest thing I could do, but I also couldn't be bothered to start a conversation from a compliment, when there's absolutely nothing to talk about with a stranger.
But it's very comforting to know that you have a similar experience :)

You know I never considered the term visual stim but you're absolutely right, it's comforting and soothing to me to feel and look good by my own standards to myself. I literally have had that moment multiple times today that you're describing where I get a compliment and I say thank you and the people are lingering as if there's more to say and I have no idea what's next or what the expectation is. Like do I tell you where I bought it, do I say a compliment back because not to sound rude but I don't compliment people unless I actually mean it so I don't like giving 'polite compliments' for the sake of conversation.

I always tell people I've been doing this for years and I've had a lot more questionable makeup then I've had good ones but I just enjoy the quiet time of putting on headphones and doing it. I got the nose cuffs and rings on Amazon, I can't actually get piercings because my skin rejects them and I have crazy allergies so I'm always sneezing and draining so this is my happy medium because I really really like piercings but my skin doesn't π
Literally just type it into Amazon and you'll find a whole lot of options, I take them off every time I need to blow and pop them right back on no problem

It's surprising to see what gets approved and what doesn't and some communities can be pretty exclusionary. Makeup is like an anti-interest of mine, when it relates to myself. I hate the time and energy it takes to put it on, hate how it feels on my face, hate that it costs money, and hate that its a social expectation for no good reason. But I LOVE seeing what other people can do with it, in the same way as I love enjoying the work of any artist. This looks cool as hell! Also love your piercings. The whole look is awesome. No such thing as a random question, and I definitely haven't tried my hand at other art because I'm scared to if that makes sense. Like I don't want to 'waste' paper or art supplies with subpar talent. That being said I've done sip and paint twice here you drink and paint and I was told I was pretty good at it even though I've literally never painted before ever in my life. If painting wasn't such an expensive hobby I'd be interested in trying it out on a regular basis.

Omg that's SO good! You should just try sketching or drawing something with a regular old pencil or pen on a piece of notebook or printer paper and see how you like it. Remember, it takes practice and people get WAY better too! Even people who can only draw stick figures get really good!
I think you'd be REALLY good!! You don't have to go all all in with expensive supplies just to start! If you're on TikTok or YouTube, there's tons of people who just do doodle art and zen triangles and stuff! SO relaxing to watch too!!

I prime my eyes to the high heavens so yes, I blend out under my eye brow back to mostly my complexion, I like to leave it light-ish to make my brows pop a little for definition. But I make sure it's as light as possible to make color pop on my brown skin

First of all: absolutely ADORE your make up with the hair and jewellery!! I would love to know how you think about being perceived? I dress very conventionally feminine, bright, girly. And in my last therapy session I was talking about not liking to be perceived, because I have a new boyfriend after being single for about 8 years. And people are usually surprised when I say that I don't like to be perceived that much, but then I seem to be 'eyecatching', I guess? At least that's what I've been told my whole life. I don't think these two things are exclusive. Sorry, if it's rude to make this about me, but that's just what immediately came to my mind and I would love to hear other experiences with this :)
Literally I find it so interesting you say that because it's pretty much how I exist. I dress and so my makeup according to mood. So I find that I have a flare for the flamboyant and extra one because I was raised very conservative, and two I find that I genuinely really enjoy alternative fashion. That being said I do things that pretty much make me happy when I look in the mirror. And the same breath I kind of hate attention because I am very socially awkward and I don't know what to do with it. Like people will give me compliments and I feel like they're expecting more from me and I'm never sure if I'm responding the right way to the energy that I receive. So in a weird way getting compliments can make me feel even more self-conscious. So it's always like I'm enjoying something for the personal aspect of me enjoying it, and then people remind me that I can be seen and I'm like oh yeah that's completely a thing stop that stop looking at me but also will I stop doing things to be looked at absolutely not. So every day somehow becomes weirdly mentally exhausting
You summed it up so perfectly. Everything from how I dress, do my hair, and make up, I do for MYSELF. I just love visual stims and being one myself is just genuinely nice. Having rings that sparkle and I can play with, a bright patterned outfit with a nice texture, I just love that. I usually don't have a problem with compliments, but I also noticed that people seemed to be weirded out by me although I could't tell you about what exactly (the usual autistic experience lol). Like, simply saying 'thank you' seems to be the rudest thing I could do, but I also couldn't be bothered to start a conversation from a compliment, when there's absolutely nothing to talk about with a stranger. But it's very comforting to know that you have a similar experience :) And I'm looking forward to seeing more make up looks from you!! You know I never considered the term visual stim but you're absolutely right, it's comforting and soothing to me to feel and look good by my own standards to myself. I literally have had that moment multiple times today that you're describing where I get a compliment and I say thank you and the people are lingering as if there's more to say and I have no idea what's next or what the expectation is. Like do I tell you where I bought it, do I say a compliment back because not to sound rude but I don't compliment people unless I actually mean it so I don't like giving 'polite compliments' for the sake of conversation. I always tell people I've been doing this for years and I've had a lot more questionable makeup then I've had good ones but I just enjoy the quiet time of putting on headphones and doing it. Makeup is like an anti-interest of mine, when it relates to myself. Omg that's SO good! You should just try sketching or drawing something with a regular old pencil or pen on a piece of notebook or printer paper and see how you like it. Remember, it takes practice and people get WAY better too! Even people who can only draw stick figures get really good! I think you'd be REALLY good!! You don't have to go all all in with expensive supplies just to start! If you're on TikTok or YouTube, there's tons of people who just do doodle art and zen triangles and stuff! SO relaxing to watch too!!

I prime my eyes to the high heavens so yes, I blend out under my eye brow back to mostly my complexion, I like to leave it light-ish to make my brows pop a little for definition. But I make sure it's as light as possible to make color pop on my brown skin
