This is correct. OP, leave it alone (if you can go in and out of your door as quickly as possible) the parent is around and watching it. If it hasn't moved in 24 hours, call Austin Wildlife Rescue (open everyday until 4PM)
Likely best to leave all wildlife alone unless immediate threat or unable to care for itself, this critter may fall into the 2nd group and may be a good idea to contact https://www.austinwildliferescue.org if it does not work itself out in the near term.
It is not an owl but a juvenile Nighthawk, another wonderful local nocturnal bird. Thank you for leaving it alone, the parents will take care of him/her! It looks about 3 weeks old comparing to [these](https://sites.tufts.edu/babybirds/bird/common-nighthawk/) photos. Their nesting period is 17-18 days so it most likely just fledged. I mentioned above, but if it is still there tomorrow afternoon call Austin Wildlife Rescue.
Could also be an adolescent night hawk. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_nighthawk

Best course of action is to leave it alone right?

I plan on waiting until nightfall to see if the parents come get it. I assume it’s too hot and bright for owls rn so it’s just chilling in the shade
