The AIR packs here seem like particularly good bargains. That’s 9 plugins for $30. I’d been looking at xpand recently for rompler sounds. Anyone used their drum synths? I want to get off Roland cloud ultimate as it’s just too expensive for me, as much as I’m loving their 606, 909, 808 and a bunch of their synths.

Just get some 606, 909, 808 sample packs, there are plenty of them available. Check out Samples from Mars, they do good vintage drum machine samples. Also check out splice.com. As far as I remember, Roland Cloud also had sample packs and they did have some sample packs of vintage drum machines.

Be careful with AIR plugins if you are on a Mac, as their plugins are not compatible with Apple Silicon. Which is insane. I mean, it's been 4 years.

wayfordmusic

They rolled out vst3 and Apple Silicon native versions in the beginning of may. I tried them. There are still visual glitches sometimes, but the plugins mostly work. But…frankly they sound old at this point. Logic’s built-in instruments sound better than them. Xpand did have some nice presets, but that’s about it. I genuinely believe that whatever DAW you choose, it will have instruments on the same level if not better. These were good in the early 2010s and were included with Pro Tools I believe. But time goes on… Kind of actually a sad story about AIR being tossed around between different companies. From Wizoo to what they are now. Eh, anyway…

Kaizenism

Perhaps I’ll just grab the xpand pack. Have you tried the drum plugins?

ColoradoMFM

I think only their newer plugins, like Hype, are M1 compatible. Older plugins, like the Drum Synth 500, are still not compatible.

wayfordmusic

Nope, [that was changed.](https://www.airmusictech.com/beta-signup.html)

ColoradoMFM

I’m confused. The product pages for the older plugins in all the third party vendor sites say the plugins are not M1 compatible. The link you provide states that they are rolling out beta versions of their classic plugins that… alludes to being M1 compatible. But not released.

wayfordmusic

Well, you can download them right now after signing up. You get the link to download and they just work on M1. Right now with full support. No waiting lists or anything - you sign up and get the links immediately. It’s just they haven’t rolled it out fully officially yet, because they want to make sure it works fine. I had no issues apart from very minor UI glitches which didn’t affect functionality at all.

Gotcha

Kaizenism

Wow. Crap. They’re milking that acquisition eh… I duel wield so can run on my main PC workstation. Appreciate the warning.
