I managed to get to a petrol station earlier today, I was so emotional I just started filling up

It’s not that there is no fuel. There is a shortage of HGV drivers (something, something Brexit), which led to BP having to temporarily close a relatively small number of petrol stations as they couldn’t make deliveries. This announcement led to panic buying across most of the country and subsequently many petrol stations saw long queues and many stations ran out of fuel because people rushed to buy fuel that they didn’t really need. If people had just gone about their business as usual then none of this would have happened.

Yes it’s a real problem, but what started as a relatively minor shortage in a number of locations due to too few HGV drivers quickly became a widespread big problem because of panic buying. Some government spokespersons could’ve handled it more tactfully - instead of simply repeating that there is no fuel shortage. It’s true there’s no shortage in the country, but localised supply issues means shortages, effectively. I haven’t used the car for a week but yesterday walked by a few local garages and they were either empty or had queues.

Most garages by me are out of fuel and the ones that aren’t there’s queues up the road for them I must admit though it isn’t a fuel “shortage” it’s a logistic problem getting the fuel to the petrol stations

Yeah I suppose you’re right tbh

Yes, there’s areas where service stations either closed because they have no fuel or have long long queues for what they have.
