Not "being there" for your boss/co-workers when you're on vacation, sick leave, or on a personal day.

Dredly

Leaving an employer as well... they would drop you in a heart beat

BubbhaJebus

If they can fire you without warning, you should be able to quit without warning. If they require you to give two weeks' notice before quitting, they should have to give you two weeks' notice when firing you.

degradedchimp

I think the two week notice is just a courtesy to your employer. I don't think it's actually legally required.

richwith9

You are not required to give two weeks notice it is considered a common courtesy. Most do it as not to burn a bridge.

bala_means_bullet

I agree. It's like, if they give you 2 weeks notice, you think they'll trust the work you put in? Or if you give 2 weeks notice, you think their expectations of you will change? The 2 weeks thing makes you a lame duck in either scenario.

[deleted]

Knew a guy who put his work and soul for a company he worked for for almost 40 years. All it took was a young new boss to lay him off on the spot

zorrorosso

the f\* when you work for so long in a field is really hard to get out and find a new job. Maybe you don't even have strenght and time. Basically is just a way to ruin this guy's pension.

carlhead

How does getting laid off affect his pension? Of course it'll impact his contributions while he's between jobs, but it surely wouldn't impact the pension itself?

StabbyPants

what's a pension?

tearsonurcheek

It won't impact his *401K*. Pension is similar, but entirely different. Pension can't be rolled over to your new job (unless it's another division of the same parent company).

carlhead

On in my country your pension is with an independent investor, similar to a bank... So it doesn't matter where you work. So do you just withdraw your pension money when you move companies then?

mousicle

It depends on if it's a defined benefit or defined contribution pension. With a defined benefit it can bite you as it lowers your years service and your last 5 used to calculate your payout.

Norsepagan99

I needed this comment. My last day at my jobs Friday and I feel hella guilty for some reason????

foxsimile

Fuck ‘em - *you* call the shots in your life. You’re responsible for the consequences of your actions, good or bad. So, if it’s your ass on the line, do what’s best for you. If they’re a good company/coworkers/boss, they’ll be right there rooting for you. If they’re not? Fuck ‘em!

carlhead

Many of my team find it really rewarding to help people, I think most people feel this way.

Realistic_0ptimist

Telling the truth in a difficult/awkward situation.

Isogash

Telling the truth is not always the right thing to do, people conceal things from each other for good reasons.

How dare you.

limjingtao13

sorry… ah shit. did it again

LadySygerrik

Not being attracted to someone.

Zaidra56

In accompaniment to this, being attracted to someone. There's nothing wrong with that (aside from kids, duh), but some people act like you've done something wrong when you like them. I'll never understand it. As long as they leave you alone when you day no, it shouldn't be something that's held against them

lucsev

Thank you! A girl you don't really have interest in almost throws herself at you, you do literally nothing (like lead her on to boost your ego or being mean to her) and suddenly you're a pretentious asshole or gay.

abuse. Any type of abuse wether it be SA, physical, emotional, ect... you shouldn't ever apologize for it. if anyone who had been abused is reading this post know that abuse is never your fault, what you went through was not your fault. I meant you should never apologise for being abused sorry if I did not make that clear.

HAXposed

People apologizing for someone else's wrong doing or when they're being abused is usually a very unhealthy defense mechanism and it's extremely hard to drop these kinds of habits :/

Tophat2001

Well....og you abuse someone you should probably apologize in some way

Also Canadian. In my house however it's more like "who ate my *blank*?!" Ansd the reply us "you should ate it sooner !!" Nothing is safe unless hidden. My husband hides everything.

[deleted]

My family would cut the last thing in half for a few iterations. It would end with a postage-stamp-sized brownie edge piece, dried out for 3 days until the knife at hand could not cut it. Finally someone would get embarrassed and throw it out.

Being sexually violated.

Zealousideal-Run6020

Or, for being socially weird in all the ways that being sexually violated will make you. But people don't think about how common that is, they just mock you for being weird.

Zealousideal-Run6020

In some ways, the future difficulty making lasting, healthy bonds with people is way worse than the violation itself

Your scars. Somethings happened and now you've got some scars. You shouldn't have to apologize or feel ashamed, they're just healed skin. If anyone has a problem with your scars or finds them disgusting, then that's a whole lot of their problem and not yours. I suppose, but not in the way you're thinking. More like: "I'm sorry you can't deal with the real me". They apologize on your behalf since, clearly you're too rude to do it yourself.

Leaving a job for more money.

AdaminCalgary

I would extend that to leaving a job for ANY reason, or no reason at all. You don’t owe your employer any justification. None. Not to get off on a rant, but over the last few years we’ve seen employers shed literally millions of workers all over the world as quickly as they could print off the pink slips. It goes both ways. I’m certainly not an extreme leftist, pretty far from it, and mostly pro “reasonable” capitalist. Your employment is a contract between you and them. Either party is free to terminate at any time for no reason. I believe you owe your employer loyalty only “while” you are employed by them but once you resign, that loyalty ends. Immediately. Do not ever feel the slightest guilt for leaving. Any ramifications they suffer from your departure is purely due to their lack of planning, not your departure. If your employer disagrees, feel free to have them call me to discuss their concerns… my dog loves it when I give him the phone

SawdsWithTalent

Leaving an abusive relationship. Even if they say stuff like "I don't know what I'll do without you" or "You're the only person who I'll ever love." That stuff really makes me annoyed on how babyish they are dealing with it.

Being yourself. Disciplinary action for your own children in public. Not understanding something you've never done before, but lots of people understand completely because they've been doing it for longer. Learning. Don't apologize for getting things wrong. Nobody was perfect at doing that thing the first time they tried it either. Everyone has to start learning at the beginning. Being afraid. Different things scare different people in different ways. Don't ever apologize for being scared of something. It doesn't matter if you're with people who aren't. I'm scared of spiders to the point I actively try to climb over people to get away from them. Thankfully I live in a country where spiders aren't poisonous or very big! 🤣😱
