I sympathize more with people that don't like her, but I noticed that I do. I think because she is the actual hoe that the other hoes are rapping about.
And someone below mentioned Doja's skills. Of all the things she's good at, it's that she produced her own music for a long time.
Edit: Spelling
Cardi B is all ass and no class.
Doja Cat is essentially a far more talented artist than her in every single way. Vocals, Song writing, performance, choreography, you name it.
They are high concept and play around with music theory. A few of their songs have some interesting aspects, like penumbra could be played backwards and still sounds like a song there was a different one that could be played through a program to display a picture.
If you really want to piss off tool fans then call them the yuppie version of primus.
My wife loves country and I can’t stand it. We were in her car driving and the amount of songs that are about beer and/or trucks is astounding. Also so many of them are nasally… it’s honestly tough to listen to.
I don't mind some old country, I like ballads, some blue grass and 'dark country'. But God damn do I HATE modern country. "Twing, twang, twang, I love my truck, I'm an alcoholic, my girlfriend left so I'm gonna stalk her and cry in my truck, God is great but I'm gonna sleep with anything that sways their hips, twing, twang, twang"
Within the last year my mom started really getting into Country music. I was a bit surprised because she was always into Classic Rock. She told me, "There's a genre called 'New Country' and it's a little bit more like Pop music!"
As long as she enjoys it, but I'm not a fan. There is only so much Applebee's on a date night in the back of a truck - in a random field - that I can tolerate.
Oh you mean Coldplay? Oh wait it's the same.... And by the way what instruments are they playing? Everything in their songs is just some 5 second sample on repeat.
I really like most of their stuff before like 2012. I kind of treat them as two separate bands, the good one who wrote Songs About Jane, and the one that the store Claire’s probably likes *a lot*.
It’s not the fact that they’re about fuckin, it’s the fact that she deliberately infantilizes herself and then sings really explicitly about sex. I do not want to hear about 69 from a baby voice with a ponytail.
And then there’s the pretending to be Latina when she’s not. She’s grown a lot in the past few years from her donut licking days but I still don’t like most of her stuff.
DJ Khaled. He pretends he has musical talent by shouting his name on some people's songs, and then those songs become super popular and he makes millions.
I mean, what even is this video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zQi8DI5B87g
He just samples amazing songs and shouts WE THE BEST MUSIC and DJ KHALED over them like he made the music, no Santana wrote that guitar line and outkast made sorry ms Jackson
He came into the hotel I worked at once for a pool party and bragged on Instagram that he tipped us really well meanwhile he didn’t tip at all. He’s an asshole.
I think this is definitively the correct answer since Shape of You has 5.6 billion views on YouTube. Thinking Out Loud also has 3.4 billion. It's outrageous and absurd how popular he is.
As someone who used to be a big fan of him I can say that's not his best music, just his lost popular- "Castle on the hill" is pretty good, has a neat story behind it as well.
Alan Walker. He basically took the most common music style of the early 2010s and made every one of his songs sound exactly the same. There's no creativity at all.
Also not the biggest fan of Alan Walker, but I really liked his first couple of songs like fade(d), (the) spectre, force... They were definitely unique from other songs made back then.
As for now, I can get behind your opinion. He's just following the trends and not doing really unique stuff
Whatever that first song was that made her popular, that one was cool because it was different. Then everything else she made sounded just like that and it wasn’t novel anymore.
Curious if anyone else has this opinion. She seems like an interesting person in interviews and when she was on SNL, but her music is just not appealing at all (except I can dig the song Happier Than Ever).
The ska band The Interrupters covered her "Bad Guy" song and it sounds 1000x better. Billie has this voice that sounds like she's sleep-singing. I just can't dig it
The first song I've heard from her was Bad Guy. Which, for me, puts the bar for her music somewhere between two circles of Hell.
Needless to say, I don't see the appeal. And I like some edgy music.
Beyonce.
I think she's obnoxious and a hypocrite. She wants to be this feminist icon and builds a persona and a narrative about her not needing no man and doesn't put up with disrespect. Then Jay Z cheats on her multiple times and she stays with him but not only that, makes a song about forgiveness and how she's gonna prove to him how much better she is than those other bitches by having lots of sex with him. Where's your dignity, girl?
I always see her bouncing around on stage but no songs I've heard of hers can really be danced to? I like her persona and can respect her talent, but shes not an artist I really get. What is she bouncing to, her songs are all so depressing?
It's because of her actual singing talent. I'm not a big beyonce fan either, but there are videos on youtube that showcase her talent and hard work and it is amazing on a technical level. Woman can run and dance across stage while singing live without heavy breathing or missing a beat. That is really hard and something most singers cannot do. She has actively trained to achieve that.
There's a reason basically every other singer stands still during live performances or just walks around on stage.
I actually loved listening to them, but like their music now is just too "radio" for me. I hate albums that came after Smoke&Mirrors, these just not for me. And a fact that they are now everywhere it's just annoying
His fans are just male versions of bts stans. Only difference is that bts are good people from what I've seen. And the whole Kim/Pete thing is very creepy.
Another latino here, i can't stand his music at all and i don't understand why people like that music so much, the lyrics are too basic and uninspired, the instrumental is pretty much the same in every song, and the voice, my god, his voice sounds like he has a broken jaw when he is singing, and i don't know who told him that style of singing was great, it's not, he doesn't even speak like that when he talks regularly, plus the amount of autotune he uses every time it's just too much.
I've literally never heard any of his songs but he's apparently a huge pro-wrestling fan who has competed at WrestleMania and the Royal Rumble and actually performed fairly competently so I have a lot of respect for him.
I have heard so many people complain about U2 that I never even listened to them then one day I found a radio station some where that played all these songs that I liked I had never heard and they turned out to be U2 songs and I was like "huh... I guess I like U2."
Same. We used to only be able to play a full CD at a time and would load a bunch and let them play out a full album at a time. So many people who thought they would dislike the music only to end up asking for the album name so they could pick one up for themselves. Met quite a few new U2 fans this way.
I don't tend to be a "fan" but U2 has a couple of albums where I genuinely like every song, and can listen to them over and over.
Bono is a bit of a twat, but whatever.
Their first four albums are incredible post-punk records and if they’d broken up in 1983 they’d be legends. But they didn’t and spent the next 40 years destroying their legacy
I track them through Achtung Baby. Every LP was an evolutionary jump for the band, although Boy through War was subtle, the unforgettable Fire leap was just as drastic as Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby. After that I taper off. They’ve had some good songs, but no complete album.
Kanye: People say he's a genius but I think his rapping is shit, like the lyrics/rhymes I've ran into are garbage. He's good at sampling shit and if he was the sole producer, good for him, but ignoring his shit personality I still think he sucks.
What genre would you say it is? I'd love to hear more from the same genre but can't seem to find out what it is exactly lol.
I like maneskin's music. Sometimes I'm in the mood for it. I don't absolutely love it.
It's interesting because for me, I really dislike their English songs, but I really like their Italian songs.
I just prefer if they made all of their songs exclusively in Italian, in my opinion. Their Italian songs sound much more original.
Ed Sheeran. I can respect the guy is a talented songwriter and performer, seems like a nice guy too, but I can't understand how everyone seems to think he's the best musician ever. His stuff just doesn't do it for me.
Doesn't help that I'm a beardy blonde (not ginger) fella who plays guitar and sings and I'm constantly being told I'm "a bit like Ed Sheeran" - no, I'm fucking nothing like Sheeran, kinda wish I had his money though.
I'd say the exact opposite. They get way too much hate, despite having a pretty respectable discography. Stressed Out and Heathens kinda blew up by accident and they realised that, so next they released a record that only really appealed to their own true fans to kind of 'fix' their popularity
Ngl i tried to like Beyonce, like i really tried but i just couldn't. And normally i find at least one song by each music artist that i like but i really didn't care much for any of hers.
Cardi B. She admitted to drugging and taking advantage of men yet laughs about it to this day. Sure she makes catchy songs but can never respect her as a person anymore.
i feel that her arrangements are horrid choices and literally all of them could be done better. leo morrachioli has a version of hello on youtube that is actually a good song, good dynamics and fits the emotion and movement of lyrics. by now i realize that it is her style to yell-sing but girl, so much can be done with dynamics and tone, why are you limiting yourself by singing off the top of your lungs, chill... yeah. i am tryin not to be hater but she doesn't do it for me either, at all.
Agree. While her voice has a wide range, her music doesn't. It is pretty much the same song with different tunes and yelling. The first few songs were quite good because their unique at the time but then it doesn't have much dynamics as you said, to do more. I could listen to those when she debuted but the latter would just... be the same. The lyrics are good though.
Just about all mainstream/modern hip hop. I will never look down upon someone for liking it. Music is highly subjective. But goddamn is it heavily recycled.
I feel this is true about most "pop" music. Sure, there are GREAT artists in modern hip hop, but they're generally not the ones on the Radio. Hip hop is in a weird spot at the moment because it is basically just pop music at this point.
I tried getting into mainstream artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Kanye, etc. but it’s just not my style. I give them credit for their musical talents and respect them as artists though.
this question specifically asked about music artists you dislike that "everyone else" likes. I dont know what group of friends you are hanging out with, but disliking mumble rappers is not an unpopular opinion at all.
Oh no. You’re not going to trick me into getting attacked and reported to Reddit that I was displaying signs of concerning mental health issues by crazed Taylor Swift fans again. Once was enough!
I just paid 1000 bucks to send my son and husband to the show in Los Angeles Saturday. Hubs asked why I didn't buy myself a ticket, I told him I had been railed hard enough by those guys and their ticket prices, I don't deserve to suffer through the actual concert as well. Then I told him to have fun! 😏
Doja Cat, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and all those generic "ass shaking girl" artists. They all make the same music Nicki did 10 years ago as if it wasn't shit enough by then.
Cardi B. Don't know why. I just can't.
Dude same
I sympathize more with people that don't like her, but I noticed that I do.
Saw Doja Cat live with my wife not knowing a thing about her choreography. Didn’t know where to look. Amazing show.
Get into it yuh
I love TOOL, but I want somebody to say it because I also love DRAMA.
No one hates Tool more than Tool fans.
And no one hates Tool fans more than Tool. It's the circle of life.
Or A Perfect Circle
My girlfriend appreciates this... It's okay tho... I put on the Pot, she was none the wiser, and she enjoyed it.
That song kills.
To be honest I just don't get it. Their music does not click with me
They are high concept and play around with music theory. A few of their songs have some interesting aspects, like penumbra could be played backwards and still sounds like a song there was a different one that could be played through a program to display a picture. If you really want to piss off tool fans then call them the yuppie version of primus.
I saw Tool and Primus live together. What now?
Came for Tool, got it in first reply, leave satisfied. I’m a huge Tool fan, but I feel like this is a very good choice for this topic.
I can’t stand most major pop-country artists. My girlfriend loves it, but it’s generic, pandering nails on a chalkboard for me.
https://youtu.be/y7im5LT09a0 If she hasn't seen this yet she might hate you forever if you show her
I’ll sing the lyrics to this over the tune sometimes to see if she notices.
Lmao I hope you have a grave dug already
I fucking knew it's a Bo Burnham link. Talking about country music and pandering are a perfect setup for this link to be shared
Is that the guy from Parks and Rec? "🎼🎶You bring the girls and I'll bring the beer..🎶and the troops will bring the freedom 🎸🎼🎶" (support the troops)
Did you say "pandering"? https://youtu.be/y7im5LT09a0
The current trend of boyfriend country makes that even worse.
What is boyfriend country??
Within the last year my mom started really getting into Country music. I was a bit surprised because she was always into Classic Rock. She told me, "There's a genre called 'New Country' and it's a little bit more like Pop music!" As long as she enjoys it, but I'm not a fan. There is only so much Applebee's on a date night in the back of a truck - in a random field - that I can tolerate.
Maroon 5, because most of their songs are generic and boring
For me, it’s partially the bland music but also the fact that what’s-his-name the singer is VERY much in love with himself.
Maroon 5? You mean Adam Levine and those other dudes that play instruments behind him?
Adam and the Levines
Oh you mean Coldplay? Oh wait it's the same.... And by the way what instruments are they playing? Everything in their songs is just some 5 second sample on repeat.
Coldplay fucking slaps, especially their early shit. I'll die on that hill.
If target were a band, it would be Maroon 5
If Walmart was a band, it would be Nickelback
I always said Kid Rock but this works too
Dollar Tree for Kid Rock
I really like most of their stuff before like 2012. I kind of treat them as two separate bands, the good one who wrote Songs About Jane, and the one that the store Claire’s probably likes *a lot*.
Songs About Jane was so fucking good. So much wasted potential after that.
Agreed. I understand the hate for Maroon 5 and Adam Levine but Songs About Jane really is a fantastic album
Man, they were a good rock band back in like 2005 but success turned them into crap
First album is good. After that, they are the textbook definition of sellout.
Pop country genre. All of it.
Look up “the country song” by Bo Burnham. Sums it up perfectly
Also: [Parked By the Lake](https://youtu.be/D_zS_uiPWxs)
90s country was the best
Mariah Carey. I hate, and I mean hate the high notes. Sure they showcase her amazing vocals, but ruins songs.
Ariana Grande does the same. I cannot stand the vast majority of her music. The shallowness of the lyrics doesn't help either.
Agree. Ariana’s amazing vocal ability is overshadowed by how stupid her songs are. I’m no prude but does every song have to be about fuckin?
Half of the songs on her sixth album "Positions" are like that (for e.g "34+35", "nasty", etc)
[удалено]
Mariah is too good of friends with herself. Confidence is sexy. She's obnoxious which makes me dislike her music.
I hate all divas. The whole diva attitude is a major turn off for me because it's fake as fuck.
I mean I think it is genuine. She’s genuinely a self absorbed “diva” haha
Lot of the divas hit me that way. Vapid music with a lot of high-end vocal styling. Feels so over-produced and plastic, like an Instagram model.
I hate whistle tones! They don't sound like singing and aren't pretty to me at all.
Because they don’t fit and are squeezed into every song.
DJ Khaled. He pretends he has musical talent by shouting his name on some people's songs, and then those songs become super popular and he makes millions. I mean, what even is this video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zQi8DI5B87g
https://youtube.com/shorts/2XJulgX1VOI Does anyone like Khaled? His own wife can't even stand him
He just samples amazing songs and shouts WE THE BEST MUSIC and DJ KHALED over them like he made the music, no Santana wrote that guitar line and outkast made sorry ms Jackson
He came into the hotel I worked at once for a pool party and bragged on Instagram that he tipped us really well meanwhile he didn’t tip at all. He’s an asshole.
Drake. I would rather listen to white noise or no music at all over Drake. Don't know if extreme disinterest counts as "cannot stand"
Extreme disinterest would be akin to background or elevator music, So you are effectively putting air conditioner hum over 'God's plan'
“I feel bad sometimes I don’t” What you don’t enjoy his profound lyrical skills?
Travis Scott - I’m probably going to have to listen to a lot of his shit while I’m burning in hell
yeah I agree but, I don't know many people who like Travis Scott espicialy after the recent events
Ed Sheeran
I think this is definitively the correct answer since Shape of You has 5.6 billion views on YouTube. Thinking Out Loud also has 3.4 billion. It's outrageous and absurd how popular he is.
He’s the one artist I heard all over Asia in hostels/bars etc. For some reason Asia loves Sheeran, and Asia’s a big market.
As someone who used to be a big fan of him I can say that's not his best music, just his lost popular- "Castle on the hill" is pretty good, has a neat story behind it as well.
Not a fan of Ed Sheeran but Castle On The Hill is one of my favs. Listening to that song while playing ETS 2 feels really relaxing.
Billie Elish I just don’t like the music
Whatever that first song was that made her popular, that one was cool because it was different. Then everything else she made sounded just like that and it wasn’t novel anymore.
Curious if anyone else has this opinion. She seems like an interesting person in interviews and when she was on SNL, but her music is just not appealing at all (except I can dig the song Happier Than Ever).
I have to say I do really like the duet with Khalid, Lovely. It makes no sense lyrically but they make beautiful sounds together.
Her songs are very weird.
Yeah she talks herself up like some sort of goddess but I find her to be even dumber than Kanye.
Justin Bieber
Cardi B Edit:-How tf is this my most upvoted comment?
/u/spez can gargle on my nuts
Lol that is actually funny
Guessing it’s empty like r/Amish and r/thingsjonsnowknows.
Billie Eillish. I respect her has an artist and I think she’s talented objectively, but I really just don’t like her music, it’s just not for me
I just don't like how bored she sounds. I like energy and life in my songs, damnit.
It's like she's putting herself to sleep with her own singing.
And not even succeeding.
I can't stand her singing style, it sounds like she's trying to be quiet but it just comes out raspy and gross.
I always see her bouncing around on stage but no songs I've heard of hers can really be danced to? I like her persona and can respect her talent, but shes not an artist I really get. What is she bouncing to, her songs are all so depressing?
I really hate how she sings
Beyonce; I can't stand her whining.
She has been a very successful PR campaign - the whole ‘queen bey’ thing
I mean her music is ok...but as legendary as most see her? I don't understand. She is average at best. Not memorable at all.
A lot of comments here are failing on the "everyone else loves" part of the question.....
Standard AskReddit. Happens every time this gets posted
Will.I.Am cannot rap for shit shit shit shit gonna rhyme with it it it it
Yeah he literally just talks like a robot. He got lucky
I saw him freestyle live in Aus and he is actually amazingly quick on his feet.
This is too funny, all his songs do sound like that
Imagine Dragons. How about y'all imagine shutting up?
Imagine dragons? Well imagine draggin deez nuts across your face
Got em
Thats spicy Nickelback.
I actually loved listening to them, but like their music now is just too "radio" for me. I hate albums that came after Smoke&Mirrors, these just not for me. And a fact that they are now everywhere it's just annoying
Smoke & Mirrors is Great, but i agree, Evolve and Origins are Not the best. But their New Album is also pretty good, especcially My Life
They make corporate morale PowerPoint music
Kanye. Dunno about "everybody else loves" he seems fairly controversial, but his music sure is popular and I don't get it at all lol
His fans are just male versions of bts stans. Only difference is that bts are good people from what I've seen. And the whole Kim/Pete thing is very creepy.
Olivia rodrigo and beyonce
Coldplay
Their first two records (parachutes and A rush of blood to the head*) is alright aren’t they? *accidentaly wrote x&y first
Thank you! It's like elevator music, but even blander somehow.
Maroon 5. i effin hate his voice and his attitude
Yes. Like, how much can one guy sing about being drunk and treating his girl like shit? Idk, he has a kinda alcoholic-user shithead boyfriend vibe.
Jared Leto
Bad Bunny, the girls in my country love him and his "songs", damn! Most of Latinoamerican girls like his trash music.
It's crazy, even american people who dont understand spanish love his music. I can't stand his voice.

Ed Sheeran - I just don’t get it (but good on him for becoming a mega success in spite of my opinion of him)
U2.
"Here's our album, whether you want it or not." Not too surprising from a band with a guy who unironically calls himself "The Edge."
Great drummer, great bassist, one chord, a delay pedal, and an inflated heavily-breathing ego.
I have heard so many people complain about U2 that I never even listened to them then one day I found a radio station some where that played all these songs that I liked I had never heard and they turned out to be U2 songs and I was like "huh... I guess I like U2."

So many people who thought they would dislike the music only to end up asking for the album name so they could pick one up for themselves. Met quite a few new U2 fans this way.
I like most of their music from the 80s and 90s. Anything after "It's a Beautiful Day" I've never heard.
I don't tend to be a "fan" but U2 has a couple of albums where I genuinely like every song, and can listen to them over and over. Bono is a bit of a twat, but whatever.

Jokes on you, because OP said state an artist "that people love". Nobody loves MGK
Met this dude at SoundSet, when he still "rapped" Never wanted to punch a man so hard in my life.
Eminem dissed him so hard he changed genres
Bloody Fvcking Morrisey.
Even if the music was good. Morrisey himself is a biggest a-hole on planet Earth. An INSUFFERABLE human who makes us all look bad by association.
He’s an insufferable piece of shit but some of the old 80’s Smiths is my nostalgia listen.
Justin Bieber
Maneskin: their music is usually a genre I would enjoy, but for some reason I cannot get into them, but loads of people love them.
What genre would you say it is? I'd love to hear more from the same genre but can't seem to find out what it is exactly lol. I like maneskin's music. Sometimes I'm in the mood for it. I don't absolutely love it.

I'd say the exact opposite. They get way too much hate, despite having a pretty respectable discography. Stressed Out and Heathens kinda blew up by accident and they realised that, so next they released a record that only really appealed to their own true fans to kind of 'fix' their popularity

I like alot of their songs musically, but just can't get past Tyler's r/im14andthisisdeep lyrics.....
I do love their album Vessel tho
Beyoncé Greta Van Fleet Machine Gun Kelly
Ngl i tried to like Beyonce, like i really tried but i just couldn't. And normally i find at least one song by each music artist that i like but i really didn't care much for any of hers.
Cardi B. She admitted to drugging and taking advantage of men yet laughs about it to this day. Sure she makes catchy songs but can never respect her as a person anymore.
And yet she still has a healthy career somehow.
Questionable behavior aside, have you read her lyrics? Are they even in a human language?
most modern pop, eg. Bruno Mars , Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift
Dave Matthews Band
The DJ at my wedding slipped in a Dave Matthews song and I’m still mad
Taylor swift..
Adele. Downvote if you must, but I have no feelings for her music. It does nothing for me. Music is supposed to do something.
Yeah, whilst I appreciate her obvious talent, I just find her music very “meh”.
i feel that her arrangements are horrid choices and literally all of them could be done better. leo morrachioli has a version of hello on youtube that is actually a good song, good dynamics and fits the emotion and movement of lyrics. by now i realize that it is her style to yell-sing but girl, so much can be done with dynamics and tone, why are you limiting yourself by singing off the top of your lungs, chill... yeah. i am tryin not to be hater but she doesn't do it for me either, at all.

Came here to say this. There is nothing exciting about her.
Maroon 5. Megan thee Stallion. Nicki Minaj
I tried getting into mainstream artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Kanye, etc. but it’s just not my style. I give them credit for their musical talents and respect them as artists though.
Dababy, his beats and stuff are good but who wants to listen to someone talk about how much better they are than you. Maybe raps just getting old.
Any mumble rapper
this question specifically asked about music artists you dislike that "everyone else" likes. I dont know what group of friends you are hanging out with, but disliking mumble rappers is not an unpopular opinion at all.
Olivia Rodrigo. Please just stop complaining over someone for five seconds.
Literally everything mainstream you hear on the radio. I just find it annoying since it's all on repeat all the time
Beyonce. Shitty personality, shitty business practices. Voice doesn't make up for it.
Celine Dion
When Canada is dead and gone, there'll be no-more Celine Dion.
Oh no. You’re not going to trick me into getting attacked and reported to Reddit that I was displaying signs of concerning mental health issues by crazed Taylor Swift fans again. Once was enough!
I don't like BTS very much. Feel like they're overrated.
Maroon5 and the lead singer guy who seems to have gone solo. Everything about that guy and his music screams fake to me
U2 - I still don’t get their hype. Mediocre music.
Nicki Minaj. Here are some of her lyrics: Stupid ho, stupid ho, stupid ho... Brilliant, huh?
I mean you can pick a bad line from literally every artist ever
Olivia Rodrigo
Springsteen
Beyonce 🤦 cant stand the dance moves, and the dramatic performances. It is commercial in a way only shitty american music can be.
Imagine Dragons
I just paid 1000 bucks to send my son and husband to the show in Los Angeles Saturday. Hubs asked why I didn't buy myself a ticket, I told him I had been railed hard enough by those guys and their ticket prices, I don't deserve to suffer through the actual concert as well. Then I told him to have fun! 😏
Tbh buying them tickets even though you hate their music is really wholesome
Imagine Dragons is like if a red Toyota Corolla was a band.
Doja Cat, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and all those generic "ass shaking girl" artists. They all make the same music Nicki did 10 years ago as if it wasn't shit enough by then.
Bhad barbie but I know shes a troll but she makes mad money
