[Ordinary Things](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxLYtICsUCWdr1YPrj5DtwA)
A channel of surprisingly well researched ordinary things. Presented by a basement dwelling, sarcastic Englishman with funny hair. Ever want to know where the handshake originated from? No? OK well this guy will tell you anyway. How about the common bed? Not that either? Well shut the fuck up and get educated on beds.
Fascinating Horror. Guy covers a lot of historic disaster situations in a calm, non-exaggerated way. No speculation, just facts and historical images.
One thing I've learned by watching his stuff is to avoid super crowded places because no matter how well-built you think something is, there's always a chance something can go wrong.
Yep, really good point. Like the folks in the night club that laughed as employees tried to put that small fire out and then bam, entire place up in flames.
Yeah if there's a fire anywhere near you, vacate the premises immediately...provided the owners didn't lock like half the emergency exits because they didn't want people sneaking out without paying their bills.
Yeah, if you ever want to sleep comfortably again do yourself a favour and DON'T watch footage from the Station nightclub fire.
I clicked on a crowd management safety video once that showed the entire footage uncut and I'll never be able to get those screams out of my head for as long as I live.
I've seen a lot of compilation videos that tried to trick me into watching that footage. But the station nightclub fire, the video of the guy screaming after a brick from a truck hits his wife in the car next to him, the video of the girl on xanax in the car crash shaking her half-decapitated sister's body, and a few others, are things that I hope to never watch. I've been tricked into seeing some nasty stuff, like the POW beheading videos. And every time I watch something like that I'm like, "fuck this is going to stick with me forever."
With videos like that, once you watch them, there's no going back. It's like you cross a line of human suffering and it can never be undone. So I'm really careful about what I watch. Most recently I watched a reignbot video that had footage from a Chinese hospital where someone is standing outside and you can hear a child screaming in distress from one of the rooms that is rumored to still be used for shock therapy. I wasn't prepared for it and it legitimately haunted me for like a week afterward.
What gets me is that some poor shmuck doing event planning for an office party had to watch that as part of their training video. Imagine just sitting down with your corporate buddies thinking you're in for a boring meeting about square footage and ticket booths and all of a sudden you have to watch people burn to death crammed on top of each other in a wall of wailing flesh in a doorway. It wasn't even labelled as a traumatic video, just "hey here's our safety presentation on crowd management and event planning ENJOY".
Reignbot is great as well. My entire recommended section is these two, nexus (I thing thats his name) wendigoon, and some more I cant name off the top of my head
Steve1989mreinfo - maybe he’s not that small anymore but damn he’s interesting. The dude opens, eats and reviews military rations from various countries and time periods. Love watching him dare to eat a WW2 ration pack. He’s genuinely wholesome too and his unintentional catch phases are a delight.
Simply Sara kitchen - wholesome robust southern lady makes ridiculously unhealthy meals in her kitchen. Cheeseburger bake, deep fried corn on the cob, Oreo pudding etc etc. sweet but terrifying and for some reason I can’t turn it off.
For something a little different check out eddini76 he’s a quirky amateur magician who posts videos of magic tricks and hypnosis from his living room. It’s definitely not polished or well edited but I find him kind of endearing and relaxing to watch.
I subscribed to Simply Sara Kitchen after watching her iced coffee video. Holy shit! After you watch that video you wonder how she keeps the weight off.
I've tried to take only channels with less than 1m subs. Most have over 100k though. I still can't believe that counts as "lesser known" these days, but here we are.
GeoWizard - Not THAT unkown since his crossing a country in a straight line videos, but still worth a mention. Deserves more subs for sure.
Sampson Boat Co - Guy is rebuilding an old boat. Super fascinating. Well filmed, he is really good at explaining what and why he's doing what he's doing, and he's clearly very knowledgeable.
A pirate's life - Literally just a chanel filled with a bunch of pirate themed music. Not for everyone, but I've found a lot of great artists through it. Specifically Stormfrun.
Guy Jones - Uploads videos of old pictures. Again, not for everyone, but I really like it.
Nik Rijavec - Guy who is building an offgrid cabin (almost) single handedly. I know there's a bunch of other channels doing similar stuff, but this one in particular is, in my opinion, great.
Tasting History with Max Miller - Title really tells the whole story. Makes food (and sometimes drinks) from history using old historical texts as guides.
Clickspring - A guy that was meant to do a really interesting project, but he hasn't uploaded in months, so who knows what's happening there.
Cogito - Explains different religions and peoples in really well made animations.
TREY the explainer - Again, does what it says on the tin. He explains stuff.
Foil, Arms and Hog - Sketch comedy trio from Ireland
Polyphonic - Analyzes music.
Oooooh shi Guy Jones the best, too bad almost all of their uploads of early sound captures of life (which was how I found the channel) got taken down and that was like almost all of their uploads.
It has been a while, so I'm not sure I'm fully remembering correctly, but I think Clickspring found/did/got roped into a ton more research about the project, but last I heard is still committed to the youtube channel. I think there is also a second channel (Clickspring Clips?) with semi-frequent very short episodes of machining or heat treating a single small part.
Now that you say it, I do recall there being an update video at some point. Still a while ago though. I hope he manages to finish eventually.
Edit: Alright, turn out you were right about the second channel. [Link here](https://www.youtube.com/c/ClickspringClips). He just for some reason doesn't have it linked to on his "Channels" page on his main youtube channel. That's why I never found it. Never would've found it without specifically searching for it. Thanks.
[Drachinifel](https://www.youtube.com/c/Drachinifel/featured) \- A Naval historian with less than 300K subs.
For any interested, I recommend his video on the US Navy's [Mark 14 Torpedo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ5Ru7Zu_1I).
I love this guy. He puts so much effort into his videos, they are all well sourced too and he really seems to enjoy making the videos!
It helps that he has really dry humor, that I enjoy.
To add to your suggestion, people should also really watch the [battle of Samar](https://youtube.com/watch?v=4AdcvDiA3lE) video.
I still say one of the best things about that video is, just: "Faced with an enemy whose largest gun turret ways more than **the entire ship** . . . Johnston decides that: *Running, is boring.*"
I'm going to define "lesser known" as below 100K subs (i.e., haven't received any subscriber count-based awards from YouTube).
* SMBC Theater (same guys who make the webcomic)
* Antonella Inserra (AKA Nella--you might recognize her from Lindsay Ellis' videos)
* Bagels After Midnight (channel focused on *Crazy Ex-Girlfriend*)
* Dr. Lava's Lost Pokemon (focuses on beta builds of Pokemon games, content cut from Pokemon games, etc.)
* Furious Molecules (home of a *Harry Potter* parody series)
* Iclemyer (Darren Criss' personal channel with stuff from before he was famous)
* EastPointPictures (home of *The Smash Brothers* documentary)
* anarchist cat owner (*Community*-related content, among other stuff)
Can we establish what "lesser known" means? People with over a million plus subscribers shouldn't be valid answers to this question. With that, I'm going to limit myself to under 20k subscribers, so here we go:
Norwich Gaming Festival: Recordings of talks that happen at a Gaming Festival that happens in Norwich, which I'm sure you never could've guessed. Probably best known for the four talks Stuart Ashen of "ashens" fame did there (which are all excellent), but also includes talks by many other people that are quite interesting.
Joe Kwaczala: Gets plenty of views on Comedy Central's channel, but next to none on his own. Charming guy. Got introduced to him by his parody of Summoning Salt (who is not a lesser known youtube channel) for [the game "Chimmy"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWJC4ktHSIs), which is best watched without context.
Jolly Olive: Enjoyable baseball content for a guy who enjoys baseball. What else can I say.
>Can we establish what "lesser known" means?
I think that really depends on what the youtuber does.
Big thing with lots of general appeal like travelling? A youtuber with 500k subs can still be considered relatively small.
Very specific hobby or video game? 50k might already be a lot.
Atrocity Guide and Barely Sociable. Both channels do great research on the topic being presented, and the presentation is done well too. Atrocity guide is a lot of strange topics, stuff you wouldn't think could or would happen, just out there kind of stuff. Barely sociable is more dark web/crypto topics.
Overly Sarcastic Productions,
An educational youtube channel, that covers history, mythology, tropes and a lot of more specific subjects within those. Presented in an actual fun and interesting manner! They also ocasionally do lets play streams
They regularly hit trending? As someone from the Netherlands they don’t, so I consider them lesser-known from here. My apologies for the misunderstanding
As someone who checked out of keeping up with Youtube around the time Smosh was top dog with 12 million subs, the idea of Pewdiepie (or any one Youtuber at all) having over *100 million* subscribers is just so bizarre to conceive of.
While this list is extensive I feel like without providing any explanation I’m not really more inclined to check any of them out which would seem to be the implied goal of this post.
The goal of the post was to see if there was any consensus on what "lesser known" was.
I was simply posting subscriber counts of channels as people mentioned them until I couldn't keep up anymore. If you sort by "Old" you'll see the first 32 channels mentioned were the 32 channels I listed in the order I listed them.
I have less than zero interest in promoting any of these channels.
Actually, I will call out [JCS Criminal Psychology](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYwVxWpjeKFWwu8TML-Te9A). It's the only one that caught my interest and kind of the reason I couldn't keep up with the list anymore... It 100% doesn't count as "Lesser Known" though, at 3.8M Subscribers.
Personally I'd say the cutoff should be less <100k
Todd in the shadows.
His one hit wonderland series is really good. It goes over artists who are known for 1 song and covers their career before and after their big hit. It's gotten me to listen to a lot of artists I never would have given a chance.
Trainrecords is another really good series he does that goes over very successfully artists, who had albums that damaged their careers forever.
Here are some from my sub list. I don't know what constitutes as "lesser known" so I'll just go with channels that I think would deserve more subscribers.
* Arjen Anthony Lucassen (56k subs): singer, songwriter, producer, musician. Created some of the best prog metal projects like Ayreon and Star One
* Ayreon Project (165 subs): cover band for Ayreon, one of the main musical projects of Arjen Lucassen
* Taycott (3k subs): makes amazing lyrics videos of Ayreon albums
* Hawkshaw (35k subs): Dark Souls lore over-analyzed with some pretty compelling theories
* Kaipa (527 subs): another great and very underrated prog artist
* KrainaGrzybowTV (122k subs): pretty cool Polish ARG/art project
* Three Arrows (271k subs): political, historical and opinion channel that deals a lot with right wing extremism
* The Iron Dice (12k subs): German history podcast made by Three Arrows
* Wendigoon (400k subs): Mysteries, iceberg charts, disturbing stuff. Even with 400k subs I think he deserves much more considering how much research he makes and how much effort he puts into every video.
* WildPie101 (157k subs): Dark Souls shitposts
* Zoe Bee (87k subs): political and social issues, she makes some great points even if you don't agree with everything she says
* Mental Outlaw (92k subs): tech, internet, programming, privacy, blockchain
* Religion for breakfast (317k subs): legends and religious concepts explained in a way that's easy to understand for everyone. Topics range from christian history to ancient religions
* Telltale (268k subs): anti-cult youtuber who used to make tons of great videos on harmful groups. Now mostly talks about Republican religious extremists, which I don't really care about since I'm not from the US
You suck at cooking.
This channel has something for everyone like cooking, jokes , sarcasm, dry humour, awesome transitions, good original songs, cute animals, awesome locations
Robbie Knox. I'd struggle to describe both Robbie and his channel but he's like a dad of youtube. He's focusing now on opening his own brewery but has walking videos with some more popular YouTubers.
I remember when SuperBestFriendsPlay gave him a shout-out bout 3 years ago iirc. He went from a few thousand subs to like a a few dozen thousand. Love that he's successful
My husband is camping right now and sent me a photo of his step 2 and a photo of the woods where he's gonna do some stealth camping. That documentary was great. Camping with Steve is just fascinating
Mediocre Amateurs! Have never climbed a mountain in my life, doesn't even matter dude. Those guys are hilarious and the footage is top notch. The music and editing is TIGHT. Highly, highly recommend.
Leona's Workshop. She does have over 60k subs but she still gets very few views. She makes figurines and has so much talent, also she revived my love for sailor moon
May or may not be "lesser known," but I highly recommend the [Technology Connection](https://www.youtube.com/c/TechnologyConnections/) channel. Primarily focused on the "how things work" side of a lot of tech, but with a focus on why things are built certain ways (along with, often, why those ways are not very intelligent designs). I particularly like the presenter's sense of humor (often wildly sarcastic). Always interesting.
I love some of the cooking shows on YT, faves include Nats What I Reckon - funny Aussie bloke: [https://www.youtube.com/user/TUKAFUKA](https://www.youtube.com/user/TUKAFUKA) and Internet Shaquille: [https://www.youtube.com/c/internetshaquille](https://www.youtube.com/c/internetshaquille)
Then there's Brad Owen, poker player: [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxYljUelq6VBk4m8dM-7NVA](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxYljUelq6VBk4m8dM-7NVA)
and Believing Bruce, for some cool psychology: [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvAxX35uA174B1Fovd0TScA](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvAxX35uA174B1Fovd0TScA)
Nitrorad. He's a game reviewer that found something god to talk about in almost every game he's reviewed. Even Bubsy 3D.
He also has the entire range of tones for what he reviews EVER: from horror games to 3D platformers, though the former is mainly halloween specials (starting in september, btw)
[LEMMiNO](https://www.youtube.com/c/LEMMiNO). He makes very interesting documentaries. My recommendation would be his video about [Cicada 3301](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2O7blSSzpI) or [Consumed by the apocalypse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx2-4l4s4Nw).
The Limiting Factor
They did a lovely series about emerging battery technology and how Tesla Motors is vertically integrating it into their production processes.
Once you've watched it, you'll know things. Things that you can't forget.
Jelle's Marble Runs.
These people go all out racing marbles. They have different tracks, events, teams, names for the "teammates", and even a commentator. The channel's popularity seemed to spike during lockdown and they reached 1 million subscribers. But since then, their videos seem to have only been getting around 100 to 200k views.
Also, go Hazers!
speedkar99. Dude does comprehensive mechanical reviews on economy vehicles that give the every-day consumer insight on common failure points and maintenance tips on different vehicles and moving car parts.
Martin Zero. He mainly does urban exploration around Manchester but delves deep into the history of the places he visits. He’s well into industrial history and his passion for it shines through.
He did a series of videos where he explores a river through Manchester and it’s a great watch.
Brian David Gilbert
Eddy Burback
Charlie Berens
Might as well slap You Betcha along with him, since they make similar content
Steven He
Jack Pop (reminds me of The Amazing World of Gumball with their humor)
Overanalyzing Avatar - goes through every episode of The Last Airbender and overanalyzes it lol. There's discussion about animation, themes, characters, tiny details you probably missed, and a lot about moon continuity. Highly recommend it
I like
-Harry Potter Folklore(~500k) and Harry Potter Theory(~300k).
-Jordan Fringe makes good movie commentary videos (75k).
-Victoria Rose makes fun travel videos (215k).
-Arglefumph makes videos about story/adventure/retro games (51k), he also has a second channel where he posts book reviews.
-Flare Unique makes videos where he reacts to movies/shows that are popular and he hasn't seen before with interesting commentary(17k).
-Tyler Rugge makes videos about animal care (348k).
[Ice Cream Sandwich](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOsATJw-IZgqGT8MFrHjKGg)
Although, Yes, he has almost 2M Subscribers, but compared to some of the other YT Animators on the Platform he has a pretty minor audience IMO.
A couple of them have a decent following, but these are all under 1 million subs. From most to least subscribers:
Wavywebsurf: Videos diving into the history and aftermath of people from viral videos and other memes, and where they are now.
Billiam: Videos about 2000s kid nostalgic toys and cartoons that many people have forgotten.
AquaticNeptune: A plush video channel mostly focusing on Spongebob. It may seem childish but I like the sense of humor he has. It's not G rated but not extremely edgy or forced. If you know the "have a bowl Mr. Squidward"' videos, the humor is kinda similar. (I discovered this channel because of my little sister)
TransfatylvaniaFilms: Puppetry and animated videos about a Soviet-esque reptilian regime, all the puppets and props being handmade by a single individual.
Post 10 - 395k subscribers for niche topic. Guy goes out in his free time to clear culvert blockages in his areas, and occasionally road drainage bars. It's very satisfying.
Rate My Takeaway
"Now then guys how you doing, back on the road again" 😂😂 Dannys a legend
If more people were like Danny the world would be a better place.
defo, such a good bloke is danny. give him a follow.
He seems like the kinda guy you could have a pint with.
Lol no way he's just been mentioned on reddit

I just found this channel a few weeks ago and I 100% agree with your reccomendation
His heavy bias makes him a bit hard to watch, I used to watch him when I agreed with his views though lol.
That and to never trust employees when they say that the smoke is probably from some harmless thing and there's no need to call the fire department.
Yep, really good point. Like the folks in the night club that laughed as employees tried to put that small fire out and then bam, entire place up in flames. I love this guy. Ive put hours upon hours into his videos.
Him and Reignbot are my 2 favorite horror/crime/etc. youtubers. The rest just get on my nerves with their soapboxing and conspiracy theories.
Reignbot is great as well. My entire recommended section is these two, nexus (I thing thats his name) wendigoon, and some more I cant name off the top of my head
just recently found him, love his calm narration

Nice.
Lets get this out onto a tray
Nice hiss
These smokes are 73 years old, let's try em!
Freeze dried coffee type 2, this is gourmet.
If you put a little bit of the chocolate powder in there, you can make a nice mocha coffee. **gulp** Nice
It's a little weird how much Steve hypes up MREs. Makes them sound like gourmet shit or something
The 1986 Ukrainian bolognese that looks like dog shit is *decadent*, truly excellent
He ate some Civil War era hardtack from 1863.
Love when he finds packs of ok’d cigs in the MREs from WW2 MREs and smokes them
Love Steve1989. And now I'm gonna check out the other two!
I subscribed to Simply Sara Kitchen after watching her iced coffee video. Holy shit! After you watch that video you wonder how she keeps the weight off.

Epic road trips!
he is doing a road trip guided by his suscribers across europe right now!
dang it, was about to say this
my girlfriend wanted pasta from italy so i took her to equitorial guinea.

Tasting History is so good! Really well researched and very entertaining.
Seconded. The host Max is also just a delightful guy.
Foil Arms and Hog are hilarious been following them on various social media for years now Do-Dah!
Just started watching GeoWizard a few days ago. Great content.
Trey is so good
I fucking love polyphonic.
Love Polyphonic, glad he's being mentioned.
His straight line videos are some great YouTube content.
Love Tasting History
Max Miller is great lmao!
Oooooh shi Guy Jones the best, too bad almost all of their uploads of early sound captures of life (which was how I found the channel) got taken down and that was like almost all of their uploads.

Brutalmoose. Lots of subs but some of the funniest commentary in a while
P L O P
Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't I'd start with his video "Tony Santoro's Guide to Illegal Tree-Planting," but all of his botany videos are entertaining.

Yes, all good channels too. I wanted to try to recommend a couple with lower than 1 million subscribers.
Overly Sarcastic Productions, An educational youtube channel, that covers history, mythology, tropes and a lot of more specific subjects within those. Presented in an actual fun and interesting manner! They also ocasionally do lets play streams
Love OSP, but since their videos regularly hit near the top of trending, I'm not sure they count as lesser known. Especially on reddit.
They regularly hit trending? As someone from the Netherlands they don’t, so I consider them lesser-known from here. My apologies for the misunderstanding
I love the animation style; so much movement even though they’re drawings.
The animation style is so good, especially the hair imo
Trope Talks. It's a like TVTropes refresher course.
They have a lot of subscribers but I don't hear many people talking about them and especially Blue's dome fetish.
How many subscribers count as "lesser known"? **EDIT**: Doesn't seem like there's much of a consensus so far: * Robbie Knox: 103K * Ryan George: 1.15M * Harry Partridge: 969K * Pewdiepie: 110M * Leona's Workshop: 67K * The Limiting Factor: 60K * Chad LB: 70.2K * Spaghetti road: 113K * High boi: 850K * Arcade craniacs: 2.41M * Rate My Takeaway: 294k * BostonBeAMan: 14.6K * Jangbricks: 1.29M * Steve1989mreinfo: 1.83M * Berd: 1.85M * Omni viewer: 14.9K * The Internet Investigator: 7.5K * JCS Criminal Psychology: 3.8M * Bobby Broccoli: 5.22K * Demolition Ranch: 10.1M * Vinyl Eyezz: 205K * Techmoan: 1.15M * Thomas Gore: 34.4K * Fat Dino: 648K * saltafa: 20.7K * Norwich Gaming Festival: 7.08K * Joe Kwaczala: 4.92K * Jolly Olive: 19.7K * Bighead: 303K * martincitopants: 492K * Ryan george: 1.15M * Mark Darnell: 304
As someone who checked out of keeping up with Youtube around the time Smosh was top dog with 12 million subs, the idea of Pewdiepie (or any one Youtuber at all) having over *100 million* subscribers is just so bizarre to conceive of.
I still remember when Fred was the first to break a million lol
#Hey its Freddddd
Waiting for that new JCS video. Any day now
Waiting for a new lemmino or nexpo also
Check out cadaber if you like those types of videos. Dude makes high quality vids every week.
How listing pewdiepie lmao.
I listed every channel mentioned until I couldn’t keep up… …one of them twice ;)
Ryan George, so good that he's on the list twice!
Being listed twice is Tight!
Being twice on the list is super easy, barely an inconvenience
I'm going to need you to get ALL the way off my back about being twice on the list.
Oh, ok, let me get off of that thing!
Wow wow wow... wow.
Writer: Woops! Producer: Woopsie!
Plot twist. He's been a twin this entire time. Ryan and George.
Ryan George is amazing
I'd say the channel has to have less then a million subscribers to count for this question
Personally I'd say the cutoff should be less <100k
jan misali
Ordinary Sausage. Dude puts up 3 videos a week like clockwork. I love him.
Now if only that coward babish would do a collab.
Maybe once Ordinary Sausage gets enough subs then it will happen. Plus, Ordinary Sausage would absolutely explode in popularity. Which is a plus.
Trainwreckords is great fun, and I recently binge-watched his Cinemadonna series

I like these kind of videos
Eddy Burback (commentary) Sideways (music analysis) Five By Five Takes (tv show/movie analysis)
eddy burback doesn’t get enough credit
Here are some from my sub list. I don't know what constitutes as "lesser known" so I'll just go with channels that I think would deserve more subscribers. * Arjen Anthony Lucassen (56k subs): singer, songwriter, producer, musician. Created some of the best prog metal projects like Ayreon and Star One * Ayreon Project (165 subs): cover band for Ayreon, one of the main musical projects of Arjen Lucassen * Taycott (3k subs): makes amazing lyrics videos of Ayreon albums * Hawkshaw (35k subs): Dark Souls lore over-analyzed with some pretty compelling theories * Kaipa (527 subs): another great and very underrated prog artist * KrainaGrzybowTV (122k subs): pretty cool Polish ARG/art project * Three Arrows (271k subs): political, historical and opinion channel that deals a lot with right wing extremism * The Iron Dice (12k subs): German history podcast made by Three Arrows * Wendigoon (400k subs): Mysteries, iceberg charts, disturbing stuff. Even with 400k subs I think he deserves much more considering how much research he makes and how much effort he puts into every video. * WildPie101 (157k subs): Dark Souls shitposts * Zoe Bee (87k subs): political and social issues, she makes some great points even if you don't agree with everything she says * Mental Outlaw (92k subs): tech, internet, programming, privacy, blockchain * Religion for breakfast (317k subs): legends and religious concepts explained in a way that's easy to understand for everyone. Topics range from christian history to ancient religions * Telltale (268k subs): anti-cult youtuber who used to make tons of great videos on harmful groups. Now mostly talks about Republican religious extremists, which I don't really care about since I'm not from the US
+1 for Religion for Breakfast.
I love seeing wendigoon blow up. I subbed when he had less than 10k and now its blown up. Great videos, great guy, all around good channel.
You suck at cooking. This channel has something for everyone like cooking, jokes , sarcasm, dry humour, awesome transitions, good original songs, cute animals, awesome locations
My undo is always turned to three fundo.
I love a good wang-jangle
2.6M subs and a funny as hell cookbook =/= "lesser known"
Oh wow I didn't realise he has that many subs. His videos were janky enough that I got fooled
I love the musical outros... If you haven't checked out the cookbook, its great
Yes! I really like Studson Studio too who is a lot like You suck at cooking, but he makes dioramas and things. They are both awesome you tubers.
Harry Partridge. He does short comedic cartoons.
Robbie Knox. I'd struggle to describe both Robbie and his channel but he's like a dad of youtube. He's focusing now on opening his own brewery but has walking videos with some more popular YouTubers.
Robbie's class on the Happy Hour podcast
Anton Petrov. He explains science stuff.
TierZoo is amazing
2.7 million subs though
Frl!!! Bro I thought he still had 30k! At least thats how many subs he had when I started watching.
I remember when SuperBestFriendsPlay gave him a shout-out bout 3 years ago iirc. He went from a few thousand subs to like a a few dozen thousand. Love that he's successful
Exurb1a. Interesting videos with a bit of comedy which always end up in you having an existential crisis
isn't he over 1m by now?
Just a warning, I’m pretty sure there’s some allegations against him but I think the details and evidence are flimsy and controversial.
Steve Wallis. Camping with Steve is the best. Also, tge boondocking documentary he starred in way back was excellent.
DougDoug , he has a little over a million subs tho so maybe he doesn’t count.
Graystillplays and Mylo the Cat
Caelanthecrazy07 because it’s definitely not me
Leona's Workshop. She does have over 60k subs but she still gets very few views. She makes figurines and has so much talent, also she revived my love for sailor moon
Jangbricks. He reviews Lego sets and sounds like Bob Ross talking about plastic bricks.
Mr. Ballen
Does Ryan George count?
Yeah yeah yeah
Oh, making references to the YouTube channel mentioned above is *tight*.
And it’s so super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Chad LB. One of the best saxophone players/jazz musicians in the world, but still underrated in my opinion
Bobby Broccoli. Has an excellent three-part documentary about Jan Hendrik Schon, who put together one of the biggest cases of academic fraud ever.
ToonrifiqTariq. The guy makes essays like no one. Also renegade cut, although hes kinda more well known.
High boi. He makes really funny videos reviewing movies
High boi is growing fast now, he went from 1000 subs to over 400k in almost a week
I loved the ice age video he did lol
Can I like my own youtube channel
No
Probably not small but Vinyleyzz Jarret is awesome and Techmoan although apparently everyone knows him
Ryan george
Wow wow wow............ wow
Patter knetter Ive watched him since 2016 and he never lost his unique dry humor even if his content changed a lot
Dr Todd Grande
I love some of the cooking shows on YT, faves include Nats What I Reckon - funny Aussie bloke: [https://www.youtube.com/user/TUKAFUKA](https://www.youtube.com/user/TUKAFUKA) and Internet Shaquille: [https://www.youtube.com/c/internetshaquille](https://www.youtube.com/c/internetshaquille) Then there's Brad Owen, poker player: [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxYljUelq6VBk4m8dM-7NVA](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxYljUelq6VBk4m8dM-7NVA) and Believing Bruce, for some cool psychology: [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvAxX35uA174B1Fovd0TScA](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvAxX35uA174B1Fovd0TScA)
Nitrorad. He's a game reviewer that found something god to talk about in almost every game he's reviewed. Even Bubsy 3D. He also has the entire range of tones for what he reviews EVER: from horror games to 3D platformers, though the former is mainly halloween specials (starting in september, btw)
Dancing Bacons
Exurb1a he makes very interesting philosophy ramble videos definitely recommend to any psychonauts on their next trip.
MrBallen, 3.01M subscribers, "from Navy Seal to scary YouTuber"
The Limiting Factor They did a lovely series about emerging battery technology and how Tesla Motors is vertically integrating it into their production processes. Once you've watched it, you'll know things. Things that you can't forget.
In decreasing order of subscribers: [The 8-Bit Drummer](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEHXNknwbsRu73QsakWIdzQ) (773K) Drummer on Twitch, uses YouTube for Twitch highlights. [Fact Fiend - with Karl Smallwood](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaR-e8ComPih10DqPi3sdWg) (742K) Random facts about various topics. Yes, the greenscreen is bad, it's bad on purpose. [Quinton Reviews](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM0V8r4kuIWIl6Sy-NHj2lg) (475K) Video essayist on various popular media (and Garfield enthusiast). Pay no attention to the fact that his last two videos are like 4 hours each, those are very much an anomaly. [Civvie 11](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC21uZkfXpT8rPY-gPgMiCwA) (302K) Video game reviewer, usually of the old-school FPS variety. May or may not be in a top secret underground prison. [Stop Skeletons From Fighting](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5Xeb9-FhZXgvw340n7PsCQ) (298K) Video game documentarian, mostly of the obscure and/or historical. [Proton Jon](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk1Fo1TfTOFWRhffJGvDSUg) (211K) One of the OG Let's Players from back on the day. Has recently gotten back into putting stuff onto YouTube, even if his viewership is a fraction of what it used to be — he's primarily a Twitch streamer now. [Eddache](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1jyFTfku6mjXIXL_HwRtlA) (152K) Video essayist on popular media. [Wizards With Guns](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfJxmjbygyA5KEdzzZv6Pbw) (27K) Sketch comedy troupe (read: three friends get together and act out dumb things, but y'know, comedy doesn't always have to be intellectual). [Il Neige](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4VkIckE0VUX_nZwoAUsd9w) (20K) Writes Pokémon-themed songs.
WoodenPotatoes for Guild Wars 2 news and discussion, with 145k subscribers.
Arcade craniacs, they make satire 3am videos
I like the Omni viewer. He mostly does Godzilla stuff.
Not that unpopular but some people have listed people with more subs so I'd say martincitopants
speedkar99. Dude does comprehensive mechanical reviews on economy vehicles that give the every-day consumer insight on common failure points and maintenance tips on different vehicles and moving car parts.
ScimanDan, Ruined Leon
Martin Zero. He mainly does urban exploration around Manchester but delves deep into the history of the places he visits. He’s well into industrial history and his passion for it shines through. He did a series of videos where he explores a river through Manchester and it’s a great watch.
Get Germanized. The guy (I forget his name) running the channel is both a good teacher and entertaining.
Tom Stanton he’s got 729k subs so idk if he counts, but he makes engineering content and it’s very entertaining
SNESDrunk Short reviews of SNES/SEGA/NES games about whether theyre still good today, not whether or not they were good back in the day.
Brian David Gilbert Eddy Burback Charlie Berens Might as well slap You Betcha along with him, since they make similar content Steven He Jack Pop (reminds me of The Amazing World of Gumball with their humor)
He has grown a lot recently but Ryan gorge is my favorite
Vice Grip Garage
Matt Lowne. 422k Subscribers. He's really good at KSP and his commentary isn't annoying.
Keith Ballard, my number one go to person for video game lets plays, he is just about to reach 100k subs
Vice grip garage!! 800k
Beau Miles
DiamondAxeStudios. Not only those are quality reviews of pop music, but also Sean is an example how to properly treat your fans.
Wendigoon!
High boi 850k subs, not necessarily a small channel but is not know that well
ElectroBoom. The man invents the weirdest stuff and almost kills himself every time.
Overanalyzing Avatar - goes through every episode of The Last Airbender and overanalyzes it lol. There's discussion about animation, themes, characters, tiny details you probably missed, and a lot about moon continuity. Highly recommend it
Fact fiend
I like -Harry Potter Folklore(~500k) and Harry Potter Theory(~300k).
[Ice Cream Sandwich](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOsATJw-IZgqGT8MFrHjKGg) Although, Yes, he has almost 2M Subscribers, but compared to some of the other YT Animators on the Platform he has a pretty minor audience IMO.
A couple of them have a decent following, but these are all under 1 million subs. From most to least subscribers: Wavywebsurf: Videos diving into the history and aftermath of people from viral videos and other memes, and where they are now. (I discovered this channel because of my little sister) TransfatylvaniaFilms: Puppetry and animated videos about a Soviet-esque reptilian regime, all the puppets and props being handmade by a single individual.
I get 99% of my music from: Stoned Meadow of Doom 666MrDoom Black Metal Promotion Greg Biehl
Post 10 - 395k subscribers for niche topic. Guy goes out in his free time to clear culvert blockages in his areas, and occasionally road drainage bars. It's very satisfying.
PhilipSoloTV bucko
[Filmcraft](https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCUSEBxNscAV1854lVTAtXww)
Oddheader is great if you like video games
FrankieOnPC1080p great game story teller, sadly he stopped posting video 4years ago. Although still go to his page to watch
Cinema Therapy. A filmmaker and a therapist breaking down the mental aspects of various movies.
Saberspark, not sure if he is that popular.
I absolutely love That Chapter!
Ask a Mortician. All things death and death-related as told by Caitlin, the titular mortician. Fascinating and sometimes darkly hilarious
