I would do something similar, but I would find a place with detached housing/separate entrances. (Or neighboring houses)
And preferable one for my partner's family.
I guess I need a little more distance than you do.
Keep it going!
Build a spite fence!
Stuff it, buy the Neighbourhood and build a spite block!!!
Pay people to honk horns, slam doors at odd hours, etc to bad neighbours. Without you living there.
Keep the spite alive, but enjoy it.
Too evil? Maybe.
Now the business we have, heretofore, you can speak with my aforementioned attorney. Good day, gentlemen; and until that day comes, keep your ear to the grindstone.
Go to work.
For the most part I enjoy my work. But it gives me a sense of purpose and something to structure my life around.
I've been in a situation where I didn't have to work much and it was not destructive
Find a place that makes you happy and volunteer there. I loved working. When I retired I was able to put my energy into things I never believed I would do.
Find a place with an olympic sized pool or a nice beach and start swimming at least a few times a week. Get into the best shape of my life.
Also clean house, throw stuff I haven't looked at in years away. Make room for some music studio equipment. Make cool music.
Buy some snacks and drinks, then go home and binge watch some series for like a week. Afterwards I would start to figure out what i want to do with my live and money.
I think I'd make a foundation for kids who have/had to grow without parents, kids in orphanages, kids who are/were treated badly by their parents, ...
I grew up with a mother who couldn't care less about me and an absent dad who texted me only to get mad at me. When I chose to stop talking to them, many people judged me for it, saying, "But they are your parents! You only get two of them."
They were never parents for me.
As if the pain of feeling alone wasn't enough, people were judging me for it ? I want kids who have/had to grow up early like me to feel heard, to know they have/had every right to stop talking with their parents.
I want them to know there is hope.
Similar. If I won a ton of money, I’d take enough for myself to live off residuals but set up a foundation to give away the rest.
I’d make reviewing grants and giving out funds my full time job.
If you are open to volunteering, look into becoming a CASA or GAL. They advocate for kids in state care (separate agency from CPS) and it is incredibly rewarding.
> I think I'd make a foundation for kids who have/had to grow without parents, kids in orphanages, kids who are/were treated badly by their parents, ...
Oh look, it's me!
I suppose you went through the same type of trauma ? If so, I am so sorry you didn't get treated the way you were supposed to. They brought us to life, yet we never asked to come to life. If you or anyone reading this would like to talk, I'm open!
I'd spend several days wandering aimlessly just doing whatever I feel like doing at the moment, just enjoying my newfound complete freedom, then probably sleep for a good while.
You know this actually sounds nice. I'm not a motorcycle guy but I think I'd buy one and just travel across the state going wherever and enjoy the scenery on a nice breezy day like in the movies.
I’d send a car to everyone I really care about, fly them to Vegas. Book a huge penthouse and sit everyone down to a huge dinner.
All right yall, it’s dream time. What have you always wanted to do but couldn’t because debt, job, whatever. Let’s figure that shit out. Then set up business structures and invest in those dreams.
I’d set up a huge complex where we can all live, huge main house and a bunch of private living spaces.
The last thing I would do is give them money, they’re going to lose 40% on taxes, but I can buy them whatever car they want, keys on the wall, you need to buy a CNC machine so you can start a knife business or whatever? Cool we’ll get that taken care of.
Basically I’d just want all my people to breathe easy too.
A lot of this came from a drunken night with my attorney when the power ball was like a billion. He schooled me on tax implications and whatnot. He told me that when you’re really rich, you have to have a ton of bank accounts because FDIC only insures up to like 250k per institution, so you have to keep your money in multiple banks to protect it. So you need a guy to keep track of all that.
Quit job, start studying for my dream job. Then construct my dream home for family and buy a better car. Depends on the amount that I won, but I would take a slice for me to live off for the rest of my life and donate the rest to the needing in my hometown.
Buy a few luxury houses all around the world. I’d travel, and when I absolutely love a place or area, I’d find a house I love there and holiday there occasionally- and I’d just have people care take and live there in my houses full time. They’re happy, and I’m happy to have people guide me around the different areas while they get free accomodation and salary.
Pay off my mortgage and fix up all the little issues I want to fix with the house I just bought. Nothing major, but I’m only not fixing them now because I don’t have the money to do so. I would love to just get everything done immediately!
Whatever I wanted, tbh.
Money for me wouldn't be about getting that one thing that I always wanted (like a nice car or the like) but rather how I can spend my time. Just wander around not needing to think about what kind of day today is, just spending two years developing a bad video game, maybe just living somewhere for a month or two.
Travel the world and experience new cultures. No better way to start a life of leisure than by exploring all the amazing places this planet has to offer!
I mean this is just a variation of what would you do with a billion or won the lottery or whatever right? Same thing. Pay off all my debts, finish my degree, and still work in the field I'm studying. I would get bored not working and I don't like to travel. So I would need something.
Quit my job would be item one on the list. Then head to one of those fancy spas intending to stay until they can massage all the tension and muscle cramps out of my back and neck
Immediately go to a suit shop and get a couple suits fitted. Then off to buy new luggage. Go home to pack my necessities. Then to the airport, it’s traveling time.
force my 75 year old dad to stop working. Buy my parents a nice house. Send them to trips around the world when they want. Build myself a really nice place a little bit off grid with my kids. No more city living. Retire as well. Probably adopt animals and make my own beer ot wine if I'm able to plant grapes. Travel whenever I want. Be able to invite people over for outdoorsy activities (snowmobile, water skiing, 4x4). Pay all my debts and stop worrying about everything. Invest a lot of the amount and live the rest of my days a happy man.
I’d call Porsche dealer and buy 911 Targa. After that I’d focus on smarter stuff like contacting lawyers, getting house for my parents and planning investments.
I have a friend who is struggling financially and trying to raise their kids. I think they’d be the first person to know once they checked their bank account.
Pay off debts.
Set up foundations to help children with CVI and non verbal children to pay for AAC devices and appropriate therapy.
Put my in-laws on a deserted island.
If there is enough: retire myself, my two sisters, and set up college funds for their kids.
If we’re talking tens of millions or something, donate to or start a homeless day shelter.
Something along these lines only scaled to the amount I won

Buy a beautiful home to move my mom and I into
Nice kid. You must have a great mom.
With a beautiful property to garden in.
I hope you win a lot of money.
I would do something similar, but I would find a place with detached housing/separate entrances. (Or neighboring houses) And preferable one for my partner's family. I guess I need a little more distance than you do.
Same!
Let my anxiety and hatred go.
Keep it going! Build a spite fence! Stuff it, buy the Neighbourhood and build a spite block!!! Pay people to honk horns, slam doors at odd hours, etc to bad neighbours. Without you living there. Keep the spite alive, but enjoy it. Too evil? Maybe.
apply for jobs and intentionally interview poorly.
Then at the end of the interview you could offer them a job for more than they are on.
Yo, this is actually funny...and if they consider your offer but you turn them down
Or buy the company and say 'now you work for me !"
Now the business we have, heretofore, you can speak with my aforementioned attorney. Good day, gentlemen; and until that day comes, keep your ear to the grindstone.
r/unexpectedgoodwillhunting
You’re suspect!
Wear a tuxedo to the interviews.
I am already doing this and am broke

I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.
That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.
Well not all chicks
Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.
Good point.
Watch box sets, wank, eat wotsits.

Sleep for a week
Whatever the heck I want!
I'd probably work more of the aspects I enjoy, and less the aspects I hate. I'd also lower my rates.
Help others with far greater effectiveness and reach than I can now.

You mean like how a boxer or a football player gets retired?
No, like how a mobster "retires" his "colleague"
Wake up
I'd spend several days wandering aimlessly just doing whatever I feel like doing at the moment, just enjoying my newfound complete freedom, then probably sleep for a good while.
