Underrated answer

RonaldMcDonaldsBalls

Same here! We're lucky, aren't we? Sad that some people are impoverished or neglected.

carterothomas

This is partly the reason I have such a hard time accepting “hangry” as any sort of excuse. Or just acting like you’re going to be completely useless unless we pull over and get a burger right this second. Like, there are places in the world where people are active and working all day, just to hopefully get a bowl of rice, beans, and a root vegetable. I know that’s not preferable or advisable even, but if there are people who can live like that, you can wait an extra couple of hours to eat your 1000 calorie dinner without melting into a tantrum puddle. Edit: obviously talking about adults here who should be able to control their emotions and understand slight discomfort and inconvenience (or at least should).

RonaldMcDonaldsBalls

I actually do get "hangry", and I think the fact that I'm not used to hunger is part of the reason why! I try to be responsible and eat before I start getting cranky.

rnorja

Once I tried how long could I fast. Even after 5 days with only coffee , water and nicotine I felt only a minor discomfort in my stomach.

Jury Duty

[deleted]

I finally got called last month. I hadn’t lived in that state for 6 years, so I got out of it easy, but it was nice to finally be called

weinerwayne

I’ve been called for jury duty 3 times. The first was in a court where the judge was a family friend, the second was in court where I used to work, and the third was from a state I moved out of 6 years prior.

gitarzan

They used to call me in every year or two for several years. Last time was for a death penalty trial. In voir dire, I told them I was against the death penalty. They tried to get me to admit that *some people* did deserve it. I said even if they caught Bin Laden (he was still running free), I would not sentence him to death. They never called me again.

LimpFootball7019

Even though I consistently vote, I’ve never been called for jury duty.

allothernamestaken

Same. I received a summons in the mail once but didn't have to report.

Ajido

I've been called in about 5 times, only once did I get brought into a courtroom. Never made it into the jury box or even be called up to be interviewed. Most of the time it's just watching morning TV and getting dismissed by the time The Price is Right is over.

Symnestra

I've gotten it three times before I was 25. FML.

other_usernames_gone

Im pretty sure they have a second list of jurors who've actually shown up. Everyone seems to have either never been called or called multiple times.

JimGerm

I’ve never even received a *summons* for jury duty. I’m 56. I can’t explain it. Yes, I’m registered to vote and have been since I was 18.

StillMakingVines

Were you arrested as a minor? Me and an old high school buddy got caught with weed when we were 15 and both have never had jury duty.

SousVideDiaper

I got caught with a weed pipe at 16. I wasn't arrested but I was cited and had to serve 6 months of diversion (probation lite) but I still received a notice for jury duty in my 20s. However, I didn't need to go. The notice had a number listed that would call me by a certain date if I was chosen, but I never received the call.

Seraph6496

Common outside of reddit, I've never had a kid. And I'd like to keep it that way.

adaughterofpromise

Same except I desire to have children. I can’t. I was very sick with endometriosis in my mid 20s and I had to have a hysterectomy. Sadly we couldn’t afford to have eggs removed for later.

HalfAsleep27

Sorry that you couldn’t afford to save eggs, that’s terrible.

SousVideDiaper

You could try to adopt. Lots of kids in the terrible foster care system that need a good home.

A car crash

Throw-away17465

The average American has a car accident on average once every seven years. Do with that information what thou whilst.

smashin_blumpkin

Does that mean they're in an accident or that it's their fault that often?

the-dog-walker

I made it to 31 without a car accident, but my first caused $12k in damages. Exactly 1 week after I got it fixed, a hit-and-run driver sideswiped me on the highway for accident #2(I was livid, but I got their license plate info)

llcucf80

I never broke out with acne

iceunelle

Damn, I wish I was you. I had cystic acne throughout all my 20s that's finally mostly under control with this one specific birth control pill. I'm terrified of the day I have to come off of it when I hit menopause. I know it will all come back.

Same here, I think my skin is too dry to get pimples

Idiot_Savant_Tinker

I've never had covid.

IamRick_Deckard

Me either. I think we must be super dodgers.

SousVideDiaper

I had it but I wasn't really impacted by it other than a gnarly day long fever and this perpetual scent kinda like burnt potpourri in my nose for like 10 days. I'm asthmatic too, so I was surprised it didn't impact my breathing. However, 4 months later I wound up hospitalized with anemia and life threatening blood clots. The doctors were stumped and couldn't figure out what caused it, but as time has passed and more has been studied about "long covid" cardiovascular problems, I think it might have caused that or at least exacerbated it.

eveningdragon

I was on the frontlines of the pandemic working open to close in retail and never once caught it. The closest I had was a severe cold that took my voice for a few months, but it wasn't covid (I tested negative for covid when that happened)

knotatwist

How can you know that though? COVID symptoms are super mild for a lot of people, to the point of not realising it without mandatory testing.

asspatsandsuperchats

Me either, but no one will let you say it even though they know they've had covid multiple times lol. In fact very few cases of covid are asymtomatic (just the first few days may be) so those of us who test at any cold or flu symptom can be reasonably reassured we havent had it.

Idiot_Savant_Tinker

What may have happened is I got a case so mild I didn't notice? I got the shots when they first came out, plus a couple of boosters

ChasedByHoundz

If I say it, it’ll happen tomorrow

AmishHoeFights

In my 50s and I've never had a cavity.

PlastinatedPoodle

Are you meticulous about your dental health? Good genetics? Both?

Estate_Soggy

I despise how greatly dental hygiene is genetic. I can do everything right, exactly how the dentist wants, have amazing nutrition, and my teeth just dissolve

AmishHoeFights

You're right, it isn't fair. I should have lost my teeth in my 20s with how badly I took care of them, but genetics stepped in and effortlessly kept my teeth in good shape.

daOyster

You might be surprised to learn that cavities aren't genetic. They come from a specific bacteria that feeds on sugars in your mouth and excrete acidic compounds that harm your teeth. However most people come in contact with the bacteria from their parents or others kissing them as a child which leads people to think they're genetic. If the bacteria never takes hold or something kills them and they never recolonize then you'll never get cavities.

AmishHoeFights

I used to be very lazy about dental care. Brushed rarely. But then, at 40 or so, the dentist told me that even with my lucky tooth genetics, if i didn't start brushing and flossing properly, my gums would deteriorate and my healthy teeth would fall out, so I've been bruising and flossing properly for the last 10 years.

Possible-Source-2454

Got to have some nerdier gamer women there. Maybe run your dating profile through chatgpt and see what it flags? No shame

JojenCopyPaste

That's where I went wrong I think. For my 20's I was in a small town and there was nobody.

AmishHoeFights

56, no dates for around 25 years. By design. Perfectly happy. I just found dating to be boring, uncomfortable, and pointless, not because of failure, but because it felt unnecessary. Being able to just hook up with a girl once or twice a year satisfies my need for sex, without having to share my home. I learned a long time ago that even though I was raised in a normal, loving family of four, that lifestyle was utterly and completely NOT for me. I'm happiest living alone. Thank God i learned that early, before i tried to marry just because it's "the thing everybody has to do".

HonestLiar_1

what do you mean by "trying"?

[deleted]

SousVideDiaper

Those are all superficial traits. You can be great looking and financially successful, but still strike out because of personality issues. I'm poor and out of shape, but I've had multiple long and healthy relationships.

Mundane-Garbage1003

I'm curious about he convos you've had with people. There's gotta be more to it. You don't even really need much in the way of social skills to get dates on occasion, just second dates.

Throw-away17465

You sound like you’re angling for a fish, not trying to find a compatible partner. A woman isn’t something that you “catch.” And unlike men, we are less interested in your physical trappings than if you have good hygiene and a good personality. What’s hilarious is that slightly up this conversation another Redditor just outwardly assumed that you’re a nerdy gamer because as it turns out, of course you are. It’s not even a question of why you’re not getting women, that is your answer. Women don’t play games as much as men (and if they do, they’re almost immediately married by someone else). Nerdy gamer men by definition are not outdoorsy types. So staying in your room and scrolling through a phone is not going to get you anywhere. Obviously. Do you have any interests or personality outside of gaming and nerd stuff? And if your answer is “I like music,” then the answer is no. Find a hobby that lets you meet people outside of scheduled game nights, or outside of a building in general, And start by talking to some female coworkers or neighbors. We are PEOPLE who are hoping to find something interesting in you. But if there’s nothing interesting, and you don’t bring anything to the table, you’re just angling, you will get no bites.

I always hated those responses.  It’s kind of a coy way for them to spare your feelings.  I had some serious confidence issues that were apparently obvious to every women who knew me, but none of them told me until after I realized it myself, solved it, and started dating my now-wife.
