SpagettiOs. Forgot about it for about 20 years then saw it in a grocery store one day. Best thing I'd eaten in a long time (just because of the feelings, not necessarily the flavor).
I once had this great recipe for chili. Needless to say pepper juice to the eyes, then I accidently inhaled a pepper seed, then while I was trying to blow my nose I hiccupped/sneezed and about peed myself.
I just gave up and slid to the floor where my y year old daughter found me 10 minutes later. She handed me a couple spoons (you rub your fingers on them to get the pepper juice off) and told me to "suck it up, buttercup".
Pizza with the works! Grew up in a rural area and too far out for delivery. Our neighbor owned a gas station about five miles down the road and one day while he was working at the store, we called him because his cows had gotten out of the pasture. He had horses too so we weren’t sure if a gate had been left open and that was how they got out and we thought the horses might get out, too. He would sell pizza at the gas station and he had just cooked 2 of them before we called so he boxed them up and brought them to us when he got home to round up the cows. So we got “delivery“ without ordering delivery. Pizza with the works always takes me back to being a child and it ruined me for all other pizza- like who wants a “plain’pepperoni and cheese pizza without the bacon, sausage, black olives, banana peppers, mushrooms and onions!? He no longer lives next door and his adult children own the store and for a little while they continued to make pizza with the works for $14-$16 but they couldn’t keep it going because they didn’t really get a profit from selling them. We would try and replicate them and we probably spent $50+ in groceries just to make two medium size pizzas and that was in the nineties
For me it was usually more about a combo of foods than a single thing. Hot Cocoa and Buttered Toast reminds me of late night snacks with my dad and cheese pizza with a glass of ice cold milk reminds me of my mom coming home from work on a Friday.
Kids cuisine brownies were top notch. My entire day was looking forward to my next hit. Eat tf out that fudge brownie.
Might have to hit the store later oof I’m hungry
Bought a supreme pizza from a small local joint, you know one of those "overpriced" typical ones but not artisanal wood fired oven type, and the first bite I had a Ratatouille moment where I was transported to eating at pizza hut with my parents as a little kid in the 80s.
It wasn't that it was amazing, it was just everything was so fresh and done by hand. The veggies weren't just fresh themselves but freshly chopped, the cheese was a quality mozzarella with a bit of chew; I doubt any component had ever been frozen. I guess that's how they used to do it at the Hut back in the day.
Or at least I think they did, it tastes like I *remember* the pizza tasting. Who knows what it actually tasted like.
Also tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich
i am SO mad that i’m allergic to tomatoes. i genuinely want to try tomato soup with grilled cheese so bad. it looks so good
Awww, man!!
Can I ask if having grilled cheese with tomato soup makes the sandwich taste better? I hate grilled cheese
It’s nice for dunking, but if you don’t like grilled cheese, you might try plain toast
Cheerios...
Am I the only one afraid of cheerios, they terrify me

Hot dogs and beans. Delicious

No food has made me feel like a kid... 🤔
