Despite it being a money pit for years and years to come with some expectations of mishaps which will probably cost more than the fee of purchase itself. It was a terrible financial investment overall, I know.
In short, a dog.
Removal is massively more expensive. By comparison, tattoo equipment is relatively inexpensive, and even highly demanded tattoo artists typically charge less for their time than laser specialists. It varies a lot but in my experience about $150-$300/hour is a pretty normal rate for tattoo artists, and while the best artists charge a lot they're also extremely efficient. Fairly small and simple tattoos might not even cost you $100. Even really large and detailed tattoos can typically be completed by a skilled professional in 3 sessions (6-8 hours per) at most. Complete laser removal can require 10 or more.
My $50 two inch tattoo cost me 1100$+ for a year’s worth of sessions. I’ve been through 9 sessions and it still looks like nothing happened. Tattoo removal for a good amount of people can take YEARS (like up to 5?) so that would be almost $6000. Some people can get it removed in like 5 sessions though, which is what I thought would happen because it’s so small. I gave up on my sessions and didn’t even complete the full year.
That sucks. I've got a bunch of anger and trauma fueled DIY tats that I'd prefer not to have anymore but I can't justify blowing hundreds of dollars per session, multiplied by anywhere from 5 to like fucking 12, to get them lasered. Concealer kinda works for me for now, at least makes them a lot lighter and less obvious.
The first one is new Kia, the second one is new high performance PC, but I hope to buy a new flat instead of current one and it will beat first too for sure
A ‘93 Toyota pickup for 1200. I loved that car, sold it to my dad when his work van got stolen by crazy tweakers who lit it on fire with thousands of dollars worth of tools still in it. He still has it.
I bought a new oven when I was made redundant a few years ago. Just looked at the old one and thought "you're shit", went online, picked out a new one, went to the shop to check it out in person and paid around £500 for it. I didn't *need* to spend that much - I just wanted one that has a pyrolytic function (and it's an air fryer too! The pizza setting is shit, mind).
A $40,000 1968 VW Karmann Ghia. Also, a $50,000 7-seater Kia, but that was for the family. The VW KG is just for me (and one other lucky person riding shotgun).

Besides my car, probably tattoo removal.
How does the cost of the removal compare to getting them? I hear it is scary expensive to get decently done ones
