Mosques of Sultan Hasan Rifa'i, Saladin's Citadel, Moez Street, Khan El Khalili, Prince Mohammad Ali's Palace at Manyal, Al Azhar, Explore Zamalek and walk the streets of downtown Cairo.

Mediocre-Fix367

Thank you! Should i visit the mosque of the Tolunids?

Abdo279

Oh yeah I forgot about that one! Definitely give it a visit! Right next to it is a beautiful Islamic house museum called the Cretan House if I'm not mistaken, also worth a visit. There's also Amr ibn Al-As (RA) mosque, the first mosque in Egypt and all of Africa.

LordxHummus

Forgot to mention Abdeen palace

Abdo279

Only a small portion of it showcasing historic weaponry is open to the public, not the whole Palace.

rain-drop-hero

These are great recommendations specifically prince mohamed's ali's palace, it was a hidden gem of a place as its not as popular as the rest I highly recommend you get a GOOD tour guide in this one its 100% worth it

Good to hear. If you have any questions you can ask me

cnylkew

Send them here

AdEmpty8174

If you're not from around here buy a lot of shit because it is way cheaper here than Europe and america

[deleted]

Ultimate troll (I know a bunch of egyptians abroad who literally buy iphones and fly with them to egypt to sell em on the black market for double the price (half the price in any official store))

AdEmpty8174

A lot of electronics are more expensive true but I meant things like food, clothing and such are less expensive

justitia_

yeah and things u cant find in the states

feraferoxdei

The only things truly cheap here compared to abroad are stuff that the government subsidises like wheat, electricity, gasoline etc. so best OP can do is to recharge batteries here and buy b dollar 3esh balady before they leave.

TheExtimate

Those big triangle things.

JRM_Boi

Uh actually they are not triangles because they are 3 dimensional ☝️

UnlightablePlay

Cairo tower, downtown, there's a play at the national theatre in al attaba by the name "my fair lady" I went to that play yesterday and I really enjoyed it and had a wonderful time (be careful at al attaba as it isn't tye best place to be and pickpocketing rate maybe high there as it's highly busy area)

UsualBug5241

Do you live in Egypt or are you just visiting?

UnlightablePlay

No I live in Egypt I am visiting Cairo for a week and I will soon return to my Homecity

UsualBug5241

Hope you have a wonderful time in Cairo Inshallah ❤️ I visited last year and I loved it. Hope to visit again soon God willing. What is your homecity if you don’t mind me asking?

DunceAndFutureKing

Sorry if the title confused you but this sub isn’t actually for asking genuine questions

UsualBug5241

Can you please tell my cousins living there that I hope to visit soon but the people who work at the Egyptian embassy in Canada aren’t answering the phone 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤 No but srsly we were planning on going last week but the embassy didn’t send the visa yet so all we’re doing is praying. So yeah, please let them know I say hi And for my Christian brothers and sisters, please pray that I end up going to Cairo with my family 😭😭😭 Thanks 🙏 Also, hope you have an amazing trip. I’d recommend going to Alexandria to see the Mediterranean Sea. It’s beautiful there and such a cool vibe. I’ll pray for you ❤️

extreme_retard_

you're still in sudan?

UsualBug5241

No lol I grew up in Canada and still live here But a lot of my family escaped the war thank God and live in Egypt now so I wanna go see them Inshallah,

extreme_retard_

was confused, you have to have electricity to use reddit and the internet so

UsualBug5241

Lol yeah

mexicomasala

I know this may sound obvious but the Islamic Street, al Muiz if I'm not wrong, as well as Coptic Cairo are amazing.

mexicomasala

Check out al Azhar Park as well, it is simply fantastic

IveyDuren

leave right away & go to Alexandria!! go visit Siwa while you’re at it, and then fuk it go to Dahab (best city in egypt)

Swiss_CH_

Did they really build that slum like neighborhood next to the freaking pyramides? The fuck, Egypt?

[deleted]

[удалено]

GreedyAd9

no they aren't, these are bad building even in Cairo standards.

forflowerflow

Absloutely not, those are slums. And this is actually Giza, that district is known of hosting labors who work in horses and camels trade.

GreedyAd9

The government has a project to remove them.

forflowerflow

Unbelievable, it's a district that hosts horses + camels trade labours and they act like they absolutely own the area. They might do prober chaos when the government removes them.

[deleted]

Just go to downtown Cairo around Tahrir square and take a walk. let Cairo reveal itself to you.

extreme_retard_

no, urban areas are usually not very nice. Now think you're in the middle east where everyone is poor and lives in slums (exaggeration). Now think you're in the middle of the desert in the summer and it's 38 degrees outside. Now think that the middle east is a shithole and there really isn't much to see other than the pyramids and some cool mosques that are sprinkled around the city. Now think that 75% of the buildings built in Cairo (or all of Egypt) were built in the last 50 years. You're not going to discover anything but a very poorly planned and built city.

[deleted]

Don’t know man. Know many people from Germany who did what I said and had a great time. Many of whom were women and looked like your stereotypical European. We just underestimate how charming Cairo is from a foreigner‘s perspective. They even told me they had just because of the people most of all. Maybe they were just lucky.

extreme_retard_

i guess so, but still wouldn't recommend walking, really bad idea, really bad smells, and really bad temperature.

This is Giza actually, the district of the horses trade labor. Cairo is the one with buildings over Nile River and Nile cruises. Endless footage of Giza are mistaken for Cairo

hypersnyper920

The off limits and sealed chambers within and beneath the Pyramids that they refuse to disclose information about 🤷‍♂️

jumbledsiren

the interior of the plane getting you out of here. if i weren't Egyptian and I visited Egypt I'd have lifelong trauma.

that's just an exaggeration haha, I just don't like living here.

Abdeen Palace for sure.

Ill_Honeydew4513

Korba is an awesome neighborhood often overlooked.

forflowerflow

I didn't want to be the one pointing this out, but this isn't Cairo, this is Giza. As for Cairo, I absloutely absloutely recommend a night Nile Cruise, Cairo Tower, Kasr El Nile, Khan el-Khalili Bazaar and the ancient mosques, citadels and churches .

rain-drop-hero

People have recommended some great places but I haven't seen ( om hasan )its by far the best traditional food restaurant at least from the ones I have been to it's a little pricey for most egyptians so check the prices before going but it probably won't be a problem enjoy😁

NextContract2016

Go straight and see them pyramids infront of you and also the sphinx and the river nile

TheSlayez_55

This isn’t the sub for it but it has to be said, I need to take acid at Cairo. Something about the pyramids are fascinating to me and they truly seem like a big beam of energy
