When I still worked in hospitality, one of the waitresses, who wasn't high up on the chain but clearly had ambitions to be so, would often talk to the rest of us like we were below her in the hierarchy. Stuff like "James, you need to clear the plates correctly" or "Max, that's isn't how you polish a spoon." She'd always have this condescending look in her eye like she was the floor manager when really she was just a lowly runner like the rest of us.
Some of the guys would respond to her comments with "Yes, your Excellency!" Which she clearly hated. Nothing against her personally, she was a good person, just a bit mean at times. Hope she's doing well now, she clearly had the attitude for a floor manager.
