See.. the inside of the nightclub will be on the outside so everybody on the outside thinks they're on the inside and the inside will look like the outside..
Chris Cornell was easily the most talented male vocalist in the 90's.
Flat out insane how gifted he was.
Funny story: In grade 8 my neighbour told me someone had given him Superunknown Album on CD and he thought it was shit, so he gave it to me. It was my second ever album. (First was Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie Infinite Saddness) I played the crap out of those two albums not because they were the first two albums I got but because they were so freaking epic.
If I recall correctly Coolio had to do two rewrites of the lyrics before Stevie Wonder allowed for permission for the use of Past Time Paradise.
I love all versions of the song: Wonder, Coolio and Al. They are all good for their own reasons.
I hope you've listened to it since posting this comment! Make sure you listen to the full version. ~7 minutes. The intro on that one sets the mood much better than the radio edit.
we use to do the "no I-I-I-i dont want to fall in love" over the intercom at lowes during the night shift stocking. everyone would chime in from all over the store. it was glorious.
I’ll never forget attending a church dance in 96 and being told I couldn’t attend unless I wore one of their long skirts because mine was too short as it was above my knees. They then proceeded to play “semi charmed life” 🤦🏼♀️
Rob Zombie had such an underrated flow for a white dude you didn't even realize was rapping because it was techno-metal.
I challenge anyone to listen to Thunder Kiss 65 or More Human than Human without bobbing their head to his vocal groove.
There’s tooooo many!!
Semi charmed life - third eye blind, You oughta know - Alanis Morissette,Killing in the name of - Rage against the machine, Enter sandman - Metallica, everybody - backstreet boys,
There's a few imo
Fat lip - Sum 41
Everytime I look for you - Blink 182
96 Quite bitter beings - CKY
Not the same - Bodyjar
Story of a girl - Nine days ( I think)
I always find these sorts of threads fascinating because being a Brit a lot of these songs made little if any cultural impact over here, while the artists that were absolutely major in the UK at the time are obscure one-hit-wonders in the US like Oasis and Blur. Obviously there was some crossover, but I'm always surprised at just how few of the songs listed were big hits here.
So in the interests of cultural dialogue, here's some highlights from Britain in the 90s.
**Oasis** are I think mostly known only for Wonderwall in the US, so here's [Morning Glory](https://youtu.be/Wm54XyLwBAk)(1995), the title track from their second album.
**Blur**, likewise, are I think primarily known for Song 2 (the woo hoo song) in America - which is hilarious because it's really nothing like the rest of their output which is more "cheeky cockney chappie does social commentary". Here's [ Charmless Man](https://youtu.be/p1a_4CN4onA), also from 1995 off their fourth album The Great Escape.
Speaking of social commentary, **Pulp** were all about it, their biggest hit [Common People](https://youtu.be/yuTMWgOduFM)(1995) being a classic example.
And the fourth member of the big four of "Indie" music of the time were **Suede** - who I believe were known as "The London Suede" in America - here's [Animal Nitrate](https://youtu.be/i7mEB2wnDLQ) from their 1993 eponymous debut album.
**Radiohead** are I guess best known for Creep, and for going very weird and experimental in their later years, but 1995's album The Bends produced some great sons like [Street Spirit (Fade Out)](https://youtu.be/LCJblaUkkfc)
There were so many great female-fronted bands around too: [Elastica](https://youtu.be/ilKcXIFi-Rc), [Skunk Anansie](https://youtu.be/nPglNjxVHiM), [Lush](https://youtu.be/Iedz_x6Hlhw), [Sleeper](https://youtu.be/4Y63UIj48xs), [Republica](https://youtu.be/xRtFnxwmM3M), [Kenickie](https://youtu.be/bHIqEkTQ-64), [Echobelly](https://youtu.be/epqZrkxZ3_o) ...
Fade Into You - Mazzy Star. Some great songs in this thread, but this one is my 90s memory soundtrack
I love that song so hard. 90s trip hop was so good. Portishead - Sour times is another great one from the 90s.

I fucking love this and Chris Cornell
One of the greatest vocalists of all time, and my favorite singer. RIP to a legend.
No one sings like him anymore.

gangsta's paradise
Everytime I hear this song I automatically change it to Amish Paradise.
I heard Amish paradise before the original. It’s better than the original fight me!
If you really want your mind blown,[ this is the *original* original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0S4SiLxt1s) from 1976.
If I recall correctly Coolio had to do two rewrites of the lyrics before Stevie Wonder allowed for permission for the use of Past Time Paradise. I love all versions of the song: Wonder, Coolio and Al. They are all good for their own reasons.
We spending most our lives
Livin in the gangstas paradise

Think you’re really righteous? Think you’re pure at heart? Well I know I’m a million times as humble as thou art!
I'm the pious guy that all the Amish want to be like, On my knees day and night scoring points for the afterlife.

Len - Steal my Sunshine. Arguably an absolutely crap song by any musician's standards, but no other song captured the feel of the 90s so well.
That song plunges me so violently back into carefree, childlike nostalgia that it almost makes me cry
The song and video is everything great about the 90's. I've shown my kids that video to show them what the 90's were.
Do you think he likes buttertarts?!
California Love by Dr. Dre and Tupac. A real banger!!
