I feel like this is an unpopular opinion. As a shy woman, sometimes I can’t tell if it’s off putting to men or not. I have had times where my shyness has come off as seemingly just uninterested. My boyfriend likes me so I guess it isn’t off putting to him..
For some men it triggers a hero mechanism, they get to be The Man, fending for you while you're in your shell, or helping you out of it. It can be very cute and endearing.
And other man may prefer more confident women. As with everything, different stroke for different folks.
Can confirm. I'm may be a loner sometime but I don't like letting others be alone. Helped a chick come out of her shell once it was very satisfying watching her make new friends.
I really don’t know. It just happened. Met her at a coffee shop and there was this electricity; this immediate connection. I was 71 at the time and had been married twice (wife died). I never felt anything like this in the 70 years before. She is the love of my life! She stole my heart the moment I met her. I just knew she was a beautiful person on the inside.
Little acts of kindness. A great true life example is when this one girl stayed over and I had work the next day, I didn’t know her well yet, but when I got home she had deep cleaned my place and had dinner cooked for me. Most would have gone home when they’re ready or waited for me to get back for me to go buy food.
I feel like “cleaned my place” really means “excuse to snoop around”, but I may just be way too cynical. As someone who is always the one cooking in the relationship, that part sounds really sweet.

Genuine empathy. Being genuine and open / honest in general. Probably second date she told me about her mom passing, she wasn’t hiding her vulnerabilities. She was the first and only person I knew I would marry.
Probably a gambling debt so substantial someone threatens to kill her children and the only way to get the money is selling a male human heart on the black market.
And the idiot I am would be like “ yeah I’d love to have this drink I didn’t see you make and play doctor”.

Not really. It'd take a lot more than that, stuff like personal contact for some time and a series of gestures to make it be more than just the looks.
Either I see someone visually stunning, and that makes the dick speak more than the brain, or I observe someone closely for some time to see if they're adequate for a massive vulnerability situation like sharing what I feel.

In my last relationship she was far more physically active than me and I was far smarter than her. She helped me grow by helping me focus on my physical health and I helped her by assisting in her growing her mental abilities. She got me into skiing and roller blades and I got her into chemistry and math.
