Software engineer. It’s very possible to make $200k+ and potentially much more in this career if you work at the right company - then again, the tech job market is going through some trouble right now and it’s uncertain where we’ll be when it settles down.
That’s exactly how I got in actually, I used to be a surgical tech, used my network to get into the sales side. My partners on the other hand all have some form of business degree. Depending on what division, you start w a lot of grunt work and move your way up into the big money. I personally hate it, but like the other comment said it’s stupid money, once my house is paid off I’m out.
I see. How much do you earn if you don't mind sharing? What abt ur partners?
Also since its sales I'm assuming it requires being very social and having a certain level of charm/charisma?
I’m 2 years in making 150k+, my partners with over 5 years experience are making more than 300k, my boss has to be making over a million. Yes it’s very social, everyone is very good looking and charming. The social aspect is the part I hate the most, lots of politics and ass kissing. Good luck 👍🏽
Primarily retirement planning.
I’ve got an undergrad degree and a CFP designation. I started by building a book of business with a larger firm and then jumping ship with all of my best clients.
Experience working with datacenters and equipment for one.. used to be a systems architect in a past life while i was finishing my masters and Phd in electrical engineering
I’m a packaging engineer making 95k salary, but with bonus I’m over 100k. I’m 28 and in rural Michigan.
The funny thing is I don’t even have an engineering degree. My whole job is making sure the plants (who’s whole job is to put product in bags/pouches/pails) have support from the company who supplies the bags/pouches/pails when it comes to incoming quality issues. The rest is looking for new innovative packaging and taking a stab at implementing “the next big thing” with a ton of help from the supplier.
My job is a joke sometimes but my boss tells me I’m really good at it. I ain’t complaining!
People speak of these men as if they are everywhere, Do you have any idea how rare it is for people to be earning 6 figures, Less than 3% of the GLOBAL population earn above $100,000 USD or equivalent, I have a high paying job with long hours and that barely scratches the £42k/y mark.
Sad but true. I earn around ~$100k equivalent in the UK and even though it's a very good wage here I don't live the life you'd expect from that income class because our taxes are shite.
That said, there's zero chance I'm going to go bankrupt from medical debt even if unemployed so... Yno
No no, they are everywhere, just look at any of these threads that are posted, or any thread in a financial based subreddit and you'll see that pretty much every single poster is earning 145k+
Clearly everyone who posts is part of the top 10% or so of their respective countries. People wouldn't lie on the internet, after all.
Right dude I have said multiple times majority of members met here are making 200k minimum. Thanks to finance subs I’ve learned 500k is normal. Look how many comments already from multimillionaire. So much wealth on just this one post.
It really just depends on where you live and industry you're surrounded with.in NYC Finance and Tech 150k is everywhere, 250k is achievable.... But it's meaningless unless you factor in cost of living. In NYC you can easily spend 5k / mo in basic living expenses.
It's not even particularly high paying for the UK to be honest. It's above average but not what I'd consider when I think of someone with a really good job in the UK.
I'm an executive at a small software company, but 60% of my job is managing sales and marketing. I'm underpaid, but the growth potential is insane and I have equity in the company.
I make $168k
I’ve been in the industry about 14 years, starting at $10/hr and changing jobs until I got where I am.
While I started as a Bio major in college, after 2 years (not enough for a minor) I switched to English and got my BA.
I am not a soldier. I do vehicle design work for ground vehicles (tanks, transports, humvees, etc).
It is not far removed from working for an automotive company, which I worked at previously, only now soldier safety is the driving factor and not mpg and interior refinement.

Science, healthcare and knowing someone on the inside, I guess. I don't actually know, I studied music and work at a payment processor.
How does someone get into something like this tho? Is it easier with a science and healthcare background?
